Following on from the world-first Nintendo Switch OLED unboxing, and then the first Nintendo Switch / OLED comparison, we've now got Nintendo's own "official" unboxing of the new model, courtesy of Nintendo Minute's Kit and Krysta.
Obviously, this isn't the unboxing you should watch if you want an unbiased review, but it's pretty professional all the same, albeit basically a glorified press release. The hosts take out the screen and the Joy-Cons, commenting on the screen going "all the way to the edge" and how "different" it is, making sure to mention that the OLED is "bright".
There's not much more to say about the OLED without turning it on, except for the "soft white" of the Joy-Cons, but they take the time to highlight the "different shape" of the power button and the new, larger kickstand that has a "good amount of resistance" no matter the angle, and plenty of sturdiness.
"You can definitely tell that it's new and different," they say, pointing out the new 64GB of memory and the rounded edges of the dock and its removeable back plate, and definitely not just reading off a list of features that they were told to mention.
The Nintendo Minute duo do not switch on the OLED. That's it for the eight-minute unboxing — at least, until the release of the OLED on the 8th of October, by which time Nintendo will have hopefully got up the courage to show us the screen in action themselves.

It's the bigger on-board memory for me. Turns out 4 years can fill up a 200GB SD card pretty well!
Not even a Youtube Comment sweepstakes to win one?
Be wary, they show a tiny bit of metroid dread in the end if you are trying to avoid minor spoilers
Why would they not power it on?? That’s the whole idea behind the new system
"new and different" nice script writing Nintendo. Yes it's a bigger screen, congrats.
Lol boy do I not understand the appeal of unboxing videos.
Krysta!!
Haven’t seen this one yet.
@SpaceboyScreams,
Just like the 3DS XL and previous consoles mid generation upgrades, more screen and better overall quality.
@KiraMoonvalley All Digital Games only????
@johnvboy more screen and better overall quality
How can that be using v2 hardware? Bigger OLED screen and larger 64gb but that's the different but in the end it's still last Gen v2 hardware underneath. Not sure how one determines overall quality still using v2 hardware.
Gary and Alison from Nintendo Week were much better hosts than these dorks.
I'll eventually get one with the white joycons as a collector's item but I'm afraid to ever use it. I've seen burn in happen in my time of selling Sony and LG OLED televisions and I doubt the quality of this panel is anywhere near the quality used in those TVs.
I know these two are cringe, but I once sat behind them on a flight from Seattle to San Francisco and they were authentically the biggest nintendo nerds you could meet. Constantly playing their switches doing experimental stuff on BOTW.
A far cry from Iwata's fantastic Wii U unboxing, but I'll take it.
@ItsJustAnotherGamer Yeah, Nintendo’s presentations are so disgustingly sterile. Most game corporations are like that, tbh! But Nintendo takes the cake, I think I cringed so hard at the treehouse for Dread that my spine tore in half.
@BloodNinja i have seen you rant about Metroid dread enough but this comment made me laugh, well done!
@ItsJustAnotherGamer agree, it feels forced like they are not even gamers, who definitely don’t even have the Switch.
@NinjaGuy69 A Picross board would be my most likely culprit for screen burn-in. 😝
@WolfyTn kit doesn’t turn on Nintendo consoles. He just sniffs them.
I would be head over heels if they nixed this format and brought back something more akin to Nintendo Week. That was much more fun because it took itself much less seriously. Actually got me excited to watch Nintendo's own advertising before Directs were even a thing!
Waiting on the 'Switch Pro' or next-gen Switch, whatever the next piece of hardware ends up being. I think it's going to be more of a 3DS to New 3DS thing than a true next-gen leap.
Any word on how or if the OLED can fit in that vertical attachment thing for arcade/pinball games?
@EriXz You’re welcome
@daebiya Did you talk to them?
@XanderLovesNintendo regretfully, no. I was paralyzed with a bad hangover and could barely order a drink. But I remember the date. Feb 2020, right before the pandemic.
@SwitchForce,
The console has a more premium feel and quality to it, not sure why you can't see this, but I am assuming you are upset because we did not get a Switch pro, which was always a ludicrous pipe dream in the first place.
