Re: Nintendo Switch Online Prepaid Cards "Selling Extremely Well", Says Major Japanese Retailer

@subpopz Hey to be clear, dedicted servers are not always necessary, but in some cases they are the superior choice. Not to say P2P is obsolete or useless, if that were the case it would be encouraged not to use it and everyone would complain, sometimes P2P works so well that you only realize that it's peer to peer once you see the message "Changing host" or something similar. I'm just glad we had a healthy discussion with no heated arguments or insulting each other. You had some very good points that I do agree on. It was fun.

@subpopz Realiability as in: if we assume a dedicated server is within the same distance as another player using P2P, distance won't be the only factor, more so the quality of the connection and available bandwidth. I can safely and objectively say that a dedicated server with invested money will have most of the time a better service than that of a random player online.

@LittleLion "The amount of servers we need to support Smash Brothers or Mario Kart — these big multiplayer games — is not a small investment"

Dedicated servers, specially for games such as smash, do solve many problems. Since P2P relies on one guy hosting the match the entire experience will be dependent on the quality of his connection. Thus, if he doesn't have a stable connection, which is very common since not everyone has access to a good service, the match will be ruined for both players. Try playing a Smash WiiU online match with a guy with a poor service and the match will be ruined for both players. Dedicated servers remove the responsibility of the players to do the hosting and has regional equipment that not only manage the hosting service exclusively, but also have a very decent bandwidth allocated. Image having a game like Dota 2 or LoL where the hosting relies on one guy. He wouldn't say I'm lagging on the chat while everyone else is playing flawlessly, the rest of the nine players wouldn't be able to play as well, imagine that nightmare.

Re: Reminder: Wireless NES Controllers For Switch Are Now Available To Pre-Purchase In North America

JamesJose7

@sanderev I didn't mean it like that, obviously those games introduce a way more different experience than normal controlls, i love my rock band drums and would never prefer a controller over that. I meant it like these controllers right here, were they only work for nintendo online NES games. Let's say a FIFA controller with a couple new buttons or less and a different layout only to play FIFA games.

Re: Nintendo Switch System Update 6.0.0 Launches Alongside Online Service

JamesJose7

@NEStalgia well the way I knew about was that you transferred your Nintendo account to a new switch and then it will work, however you need to have your previous switch for that. Then again this shows how little experience Nintendo has with online interaction or infrastructure as a whole, we are still using friend codes on 2018... I think they should just hire an entire team that actually knows what they are doing with simple things such as this. There's no denying it, they know how to make games and I love them for that, but with online interaction they are still stuck in the 90's

Re: Epic Games Responds To Fans' Pleas To Improve Fortnite On Switch With New Patch

JamesJose7

@Grant007 The most interactive way ever to do so right on nintendo switch. You just have to follow some simple steps:

1. Archive your game
2. Power off your system completely
3. Remove the SD card
4. Power it on again
5. Redownload the archived game
6. Once done power it off again
7. Put the SD card back on
8. Enjoy your game on internal memory

I seriously hope there's a simple button to do this on 6.x like every other device out there, can't believe a qol feature like that was not considered for the first version.

Re: Illegal Game Sharing Site Mocks Nintendo's Recent Legal Actions With Trolling Video

JamesJose7

I mean... I don't understand how this is still a debate, I love ROMs, that's how I got to play lots of games for the first time and had a lot of fun, even bought the 8bitdo nes30 to play them. However, it's still illegal to distribute intellectual property that isn't yours, people talk about this as if Nintendo is the only one that does this, Movie studios, copyright system in YouTube, Sony, Microsoft, etc. They're not villains for doing this guys lol, it's just the legal team behind Nintendo protecting THEIR property because remember guys, they made it, it's their right to do whatever they want with it. As for the argument about game preservation, totally agree, if there was a legal service to do this it would be fine and I feel like they're planning to do so with the online service coming up, that's why they're taking action now.
