Iconic video game characters making cameo appearances in popular fighting games is all the rage right now. Indie hero Shovel Knight has popped up in multiple titles, Yooka-Laylee was recently announced for Brawlout and now Rayman is being added to Blue Mammoth's free-to-play platform fighter, Brawlhalla.
Following Ubisoft's recent acquisition of Blue Mammoth Games, this particular cameo isn't quite as surprising as the other above-mentioned ones. Rayman first started out in 1995, and has been overshadowed by the crazy Rabbids in recent years. It's nice to see the original Ubi mascot receive some love.

In case you missed it, in August, Ubisoft revealed it was bringing Brawlhalla to the Switch eShop on 6th November. Rayman will be released on this same date. The title itself draws inspiration from series like Super Smash Bros., as can be seen in the trailer above. The character roster currently features over 40 unique fighters and there's plenty of modes including single-player, co-op, online and local competitive. The game is easy to learn but hard to master.
Are you excited Rayman is coming to Brawlhalla? Would you like to see Ubisoft show this character more love? Tell us below.

Very cool! I hope that, unlike Brawlout, this game serves to be a suitable placeholder until Smash releases.
...lol, video unavailable in my country, cool...
So... Rayman won’t be in Smash?
@shonenjump86 Just because he’s in one game doesn’t mean he won’t be in another. Mega Man, PAC-MAN, Ryu (duh), and others have been in fighting games before, but they’re all in Smash.
Oki video is fixed for me now...
So when are we getting a Smash game for anime characters? lol
How did that happen
@Joeynator3000 Didn't Jump Super Stars try that?
Alright, I'm going to get it for sure now!
if he's not gonna be in smash. might as well put him intro a clone smash game.
I guess this is the year of platform fighters
If Rayman can't be in smash then he'll make his own Smash game
I beg your pardon?
@ReaderRagfish No doubt why it’s FTP. Smashpocalypse has a good ring to it. Goes well with Nintendoomed
@shonenjump86 or it’s just a game for Ubisoft to promote on the Nintendo Switch for an upcoming Direct with a caveat to announce Rayman in Smash Bros Ultimate along with the Rabbids as Assist Trophy on the side.

@iLikeUrAttitude You know what I’m about to say, Ubisoft promoting there Game on Nintendo Direct with Rayman as the next Playable Fighter and the Rabbids as Assist Trophy
@NS66 You're right, it"s possible for Rayman to appear in smash. I've never said he wasn't going to. I'm also not against of the idea of any Ubisoft IP to appear in Smash. (or Brawlhalla, as Ubisoft publishes the game.)
@MH4 @shonenjump86 this does signify that he most likely will not be in smash atleast as a character, and while it is true that characters can be in more then one game those are usually their own series while smash is more of a side series, other have indeed been in fighting games before but they didn't release at the same time as smash to impede their sales.
@edgedino that’s what I was kinda thinking in a way. Still, he could show up in Smash. Ya never know. Brawhalla looks alright, I might have to try it out.
Does anyone know what is free and what you pay for in this F2P?
@shonenjump86 like shovel knight a assist trophy or he could just end up being a reg ol trophy collectable.
I thought Rayman would be in Smash for sure. I’m not super invested mind you, but I figured with Ubisoft being one of the only companies to give them any games on the Wii U, and given the partnership on Kingdom Battle and Starlink that Nintendo would want to show Ubi some love.
can we ever get a rayman legends sequel already?
@DavidMac I believe Rayman was purposely not included in Super Smash Bros. in playable form due to the broken exclusivity that UbiSoft did when they were developing Rayman Legends for the Wii U. As we all know the game was to be a Wii U exclusive, then UbiSoft change that and it would become a Wii U time exclusive meaning UbiSoft would still port the game to other platforms but would come out on Wii U first but then UbiSoft purposely held it back and release it same day as the other platforms and the exclusivity nature of the game is gone. Fortunately this made me less excited about a new Rayman game and loss a lot of trust in UbiSoft despite how much trash they still make for the Wii.
@iLikeUrAttitude simple as that
@paihia Rayman Legend was a sequel. But we're more likely to get a Rayman 3 sequel now, which is much better.
Legendary Fishing is the Ubisoft game I'm most excited for at the moment.
@Tasaraus sequel to origins but I meant some continuation following legends. any new rayman would be good its been awhile
I much prefer Rivals of Aether and Icons Combat Arena but I want to try this games version of Rayman.
is this like a smash bros type of game then but cross play on xbox/switch?
Why not to Smash instead?
Wait, so Ubisoft acquired the studio that makes Brawlhalla? So does that mean Brawlhalla isn't an indie game anymore? Since ya know, Ubisoft is a big name company and adding Rayman to this game makes it sound like this game is now a main company game since Ubisoft acquired the studio that made this game.
I've been hearing snippets about this game for a while now, but somehow the whole free to play aspect completely slipped by me. Which, releasing this a month before Smash, makes a little more sense. I guess I'll end up giving this a spin afterall.
Instead of a Twitter message, why not stop being lazy and create an actual debut trailer for the guy UbiSoft like this one for example.
So it's free to play... So what does it really cost?
We are getting a Netflix, HBO, Amazon prime situation. Meaning: Hmm, wich brawler contains the characters I care about? They are completely scattered about!
