@misterMike why do you hold scores so highly. Why do you hold the switch accountable for what many third party companies are producing. At the end of the day scoring a game, movie or whatever is subjective and should not be the only factor that determines your enjoyment. The switch has amazing games, the critically acclaimed ones, and the ones you enjoy because of who you are. Just like every other console out there.

@Heavyarms55 I believe the point of digital foundry is not to complain but to just point out how things really work. The title even "DF loves switch". Of course there are things so minor that don't bother many when actually playing the game including me, but if you watch DF's videos you can see the vast amount of experience and knowledge these guys have over every little thing regarding computers rendering graphics. They're here to show us everything under the hood, you can take it however you want.

To be fair, when versioning, an increase to the first number doesn't mean features are being added. When you increase the first number it means that you have changed enough so that your new system is not backwards compatible with anything from your previous one, meaning there was something done in the background that makes the leap from 6.2.0 to 7.0.0 significant in those terms.

However, we are already at version 7 and we still haven't had any major changes to the UI at all, whats with the obsession of just adding icons, those are just images you are dropping. At least give us themes, we've had black and white for almost two years now.

@Heavyarms55 I believe one of the strongest motivations for developers to go with that route is because of how easy it is to work with them compared to other art styles. Both for the artist and the developer. Personally speaking, whenever I practice game development either on unity or UE4 the sprite tools for frame animations, hitboxes, and the overall process is far easier to make, and I can always ask my artist friends to quickly doodle some sprites to work with since they don't take much time. That being said however, some games such as octopath traveler, owlboy, and the list goes on, show the potential of the art style to really shine with modern tools and incredibly created people. But when it comes to indie games with such small teams and how popular it has become, it really is the safest bet to go with.
