@Elektrogeist1287 It reviews between 10 and 6, with the average of 8. I would also call that mixed reviews. For most reviewers it's not an instant classic like the original Metroid Prime was, for some it is, and some find it just okay.
I'll still check it out later, don't have time for it now.
@Munchlax I've already played it for 25+ hours and I don't feel like I'll be done with it anytime soon. I think there is plenty of content to enjoy if you like this type of game.
@Bats1234 I'm not sure, there is Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong and Metroid Prime 4 coming out soon. There are only so many games the average person would buy at a time. I think many casual gamers/parents don't run out to buy an expensive game every month.
Also, the spinoff games are less demanding to make so it's a relatively fast way to produce Switch 2 exclusives. I also feel the Nintendo games usually remain relevant and someone who picks up the console in 2 years still would want those same exclusives (whether they are spinoffs or mainline games). Like there won't be a Mario Tennis 2 for Switch 2, so when the user base grows they would still pick up Mario Tennis if they would want to play a tennis game. It kinda makes sense to me.
@Trmn8r a 4.0 is still a huge outlier from a game that scores between 7.0 and 9.0 elsewhere.
People are caring too much for this review scores tho. Apparently Mario Kart World sucks so bad you can't even believe (86), Sonic is way better in every way and look at those graphics (82), Kirby totally sucks and is a flawed game with significant issues (78). After playing the demo I'm sure that I'll be enjoying Kirby the most, as the downsides listed in the reviews are more a matter of style or taste than actual bad design or bad gameplay.
@8bit-Man I think the core gameplay has more to offer than many other arcade racers really, both in gameplay and modes.
I'm glad they had a demo, seeing the reviews I'd probably think yeah it's okay but not a must have, but it happens that I'm free the rest of the week and can't wait to play it!
@the_beaver I only played the Lessons from the demo, but my feeling is this game will be "easy to pick up, hard to master". I don't feel to just race around the track and enjoy it you will need a lot of time with the game.
@Fake-news Sakurai did 2 hours of explaining and many different channels have been making overview trailers from that. Makes sense that Nintendo also releases a shorter overview trailer that highlights the game. Also, with one previous entry that received pretty poor reviews 20 years ago, I think it seems a good call to promote it heavily.
@PharoneTheGnome That's not really a big statement, I think everyone is aware of it. Fire Emblem, Yoshi, Tennis and Kirby are already announced. Only one I'm doubtful about on your list is Mario Strikers. Also, I'd like Nintendo to revive some old series. They make enough to do that as well.
I don't think the Switch 2 is that light on new games that have already been released and announced. Are some people really expecting every big game to come out within the first year?
I can imagine if you are not interested in Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Metroid Prime (I know it's on Switch 1 as well, but still a big release) or Fire Emblem that it kinda sucks. But then why the heck would you get a Switch 2 already anyway.
@N00BiSH I agree with everything you say. I'm also loving all the crazy stuff like the gummies and what not. Everything seems to be designed perfectly with a clear vision (unlike Mario Kart, still a good game tho).
@rockodoodle Have you watched the Direct? It was packed with new information, many people who watched it seem to be very excited. So I'd say yes this was exactly what we needed. For me it went from excited but let's wait for the reviews to I'll buy it for sure.
Can't wait! Everything they showed looked absolutely amazing and they added in some crazy stuff makes me feel there is not really anything more you could wish for in this game. And somehow there are still a few people able to find something te be sour about. Some people just can't be pleased 😂
I have never cared for amiibos, but these are €35 here. Not that different than other bigger amiibos that released recently?
The game looks totally insane tho! After the first direct I was thinking to wait for the reviews but I'll get this day one. Can't wait to play all this madness.
@The_Nintendo_Pedant I don't know either, but you stated they should save the costs of these Directs and make the game cheaper. It's pretty much Sakurai sitting in front of a webcam explaining a game he made. It's not a flashy high end production. If he was allowed to do this for single characters for Super Smash Bros the costs will most likely never be that high (and it also didn't affect the cost of that game). Most if not all his Directs are watched by a few million people so it's pretty popular and good exposure.
@The_Nintendo_Pedant The first Direct made me interested in the game and I enjoyed the way he presented it. Also my guess is that we get another Direct because Sakurai likes to do one, not because it's an absolute necessity. What does it cost to make a Direct like this? Probably the cheapest kind of fluff Nintendo can do. I'm kind of excited to see what else he has to show us.
I'm interested in this game so I think it's cool they do another Direct and will happily watch it. It's not like him doing another Direct means something else is not happening so I don't see the problem.
Many people (including me) didn't think Donkey Kong as a game (not the new design) looked that great until it's got its own direct. I'm hoping it will be the case here as well. Still feel the desolated planet could be the right vibe and hope that there will be more interesting parts as well. That it's also a switch 1 game is a bit worrying tho.
Very excited about this one! I know it sucks Nintendo increased the prices but come on really. Some of you saying it looks like it be worth maximum €50, while Aces had less content and was a €60 game. Let's be realistic here.
@DashKappei Thanks for the heads up, I'll be skipping this one for now. I picked up House of dead remake for €2.50 in the last sale and for that price it is definitely fun enough. I was assuming since M2 usually puts out quality enhancements that it would be even better, as the House of the dead remakes are not of such high standards. Pity to hear it's not the case.
@carlos82 I think someone on Reddit pointed out that during city trial there was an icon of something like 'press a to join for P2,3,4' during city trial.
@raymond23 Labelling Mario Kart as total trash is ridiculous. The consensus on Mario Kart World is 86 out of 100 based on 129 reviews. Now you can dislike the game, and I would also like to see some small things changed. But it's not like its generally perceived as rubbish. I think Air Riders looks pretty exciting as well, and feel it is enough its own thing that it can co-exist with Mario Kart.
Enjoyed watching the Direct, game looks great to me. I'll wait for the reviews but I like the style and concepts. See quite some people complain about the game not being worth €69.99, the original Air Ride sold for €59.99 in 2003(?). This one has more content, is released 20+ years later and only €10 more expensive...does not seem that unreasonable.
@EVIL-C That's not totally fair, it makes sense due to the limitations of the platform. I guess it would be either have couch co-op or have the graphics turned down by a lot.
@Suketoudara that controller meme is quite good 😂 No idea that Mario Kart Double Dash was not that well liked, always had a lot of fun with that one.
I understood from the websites that Kirby Air Riders was a big wish to make from Sakurai so I hope it turns out fun, but I'd rather have had a new Kid Icarus. And for racing games I would have thought that F-Zero would be more deserving of a new game. Oh well, maybe someday.
@LikelySatan I'm enjoying Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza a lot. However, I feel a lot of AAA games have been doing more or less the same things for generations, just with nicer graphics. The big studios are all complaining about how expensive game development is because of the complexity and then there are relatively small Indie developers who blow them out of the water in terms of creativity and gameplay.
I'm surprised the original Air Ride is apparently such a well loved title, as reviews at the time were generally quite poor. Never played that one, but if this one has some creative new ideas and turns out good I'd get it.
Is it actually confirmed somewhere that it is indeed a full collection that doesn't require a Download? Here (in the Netherlands) there are several webshops that have always had a box art picture listed without download required info, but it was still the same version as everywhere else.

Re: Poll: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Is Out On Switch 2 And Switch This Week, Will You Be Getting It?
I'll get it eventually. All my gaming time is going to Air Riders and that will continue for a while. Also still need to finish Donkey Kong.
Re: Site News: So, Where's Our Metroid Prime 4 Switch 1 Review?
@AllBLK It makes sense from a business standpoint to promote the Switch 2 version, but I expect the Switch 1 version to be fine really.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Kirby Air Riders?
@Jayvir If you like the gameplay I'd give it a try online. Best online multiplayer I've played in a long time. Incredibly fun!

Re: Metroid Prime 4's Sweet New Trailer Builds The Hype For Next Month's Launch
I don't know what to think of it, the game looks kinda dated in the trailer. Not super excited, will wait for the reviews for this one.
