@Warioware You complain about someone getting 'attacked', and 'attack' someone else who was not even involved in the discussion a sentence later 🙃
I'm interested in the game if it performs well, as I only game on Switch and haven't played it before. Always a bit surprised by people who played it on PS4 or PS5 already and then want to spend €60 to play it again on Switch 2. Especially if they didn't play it a lot or even really like it on those systems. It's the same game...
The demo looked and played great, but it's not a game for me. I just didn't find the hacking along the shooting that enjoyable and the robot world wasn't that interesting to me either. Still hope the game will be a great success!
I really like the Amazon show, and thought I'd be giving this a try. Then I see the graphics and overall style and remember why I never played it in the first place. Idk why, and it's probably a great game but it just looks so bland and boring to me.
I think two weeks in top 10 is pretty good for Mario Tennis. Not sure why some people conclude from this that no one is buying the game? Like it's the exact opposite lol.
I'd give it a 9. Adventure mode was kinda meh, but challenge towers are nice. The CPU also is challenging at the higher difficulties. Online is incredibly fun! Really loving it. I also disagree with people who call it luck based or Mario Party like. I get my ass kicked regularly online and bad luck has very little to do with that.
Negative points I'd say are mainly in the audio department. Some variety in the music would have been nice, the talking flower was announced like it was a big deal but has very few lines. Also they could have used character names instead of using 'receiver' to announce the winner. Altogether great game for local or online multiplayer and well worth the money.
@NolandC You seem to base that it's a flop on the reviews, so it would be fair to look at the average critic scores no?
67 reviews are in and the average is 77, then Nintendolife giving it a 8 does not seem to be far off. But yeah sure the lower reviews and the comments of people who haven't played it and won't play it are more valuable 🙃
@NolandC How is it a flop? The average score is 77. The only Mario Tennis that scored much higher is the N64 version. The much praised GameCube version scored 80 back in the day.
People's expectations have become somewhat unreasonable. I think scores are pretty good, and if you love arcade sport games this seems like it will be a blast. It's maybe not the best Mario game ever, but it's pretty much the best tennis game that is out there right now.
I don't really care for the Adventure mode, and most reviews say the actual tennis and gameplay are fun and that's what matters most to me in an arcade sport game. Pity to see that many people here are seemingly less interested to get it, as I hope online activity will remain for a decent amount of time. Still excited for this one!
Didn't read much positive things about eFootball and haven't been interested in FIFA for many years either. Hope they surprise us with a good game, but my expectations are low.
I'm getting Mario Tennis day one. Resident Evil looks really good as well, maybe will pick it up at a later date. From the first reviews it seems like Carmageddon is alright and quite fun, but will wait for a sale.
I think it's a good ad. They don't need to convince us Nintendo nerds to buy it, and I think showing it like this has more broad appeal than showing all the game modes and stuff like that.
@Discostew I agree that is extremely poor behavior from their side and they are responsible for that. Doesn't necessarily mean that Nintendo wasn't the one that insisted on a censored version in the first place. But yes Adhoc is guilty for hiding that fact, I fully agree (and never said otherwise).
It seems like Nintendo wasn't convinced with the quality themselves as much either. I've seen surprinsgly little mainstream advertisement for it. Still plan to pick it up eventually tho.
The Warrior games are a bit if an acquired taste already and to me not worth their initial asking price at all. The type of game I'd pick up if I'm bored and happen to see it for €20 or €30 on a sale.
@Jeronan Apparently those Hentai games do not contain any nudity at all, so there is nothing to be censored there.
If it was on Adhoc they could easily say 'Sorry we will patch it and fix it', but they can't somehow do that. This is on Nintendo not allowing the content. Why would Adhoc release an uncensored version on PS5 and PC but not want to do that on Switch.
In each statement Adhoc has said or implied that Nintendo didn't allow the uncensored version of the game. Somehow people keep saying: 'They Just Didn't Want To Do 2 Versions!!! It's Not On Nintendo!!'. All based on fan theory and not on insider information. The statements itself are not ambiguous or vague, people are just overanalyzing and weighing every word in each statement to find a way that it implies they are wrong and not Nintendo.
@SuppressorSteve For what's an interactive story the black boxes to cover up look ridiculous. If they would have recreated the images that it was less intrusive and put some effort it already be a bit better. However, censorship is bad as it messes with how we are intended to experience the game and can easily become a gliding scale. I don't need someone from Nintendo deciding what I can or can't see in a 18+ rated videogame. If you need to censor videogames to 'protect' the audience it's still not a serious medium for storytelling compared to books or movies.
I was planning to get Dispatch, but will wait to see if they fix it in future updates. Grid looks like a good game and might pick it up at a later date (if I decide to get the GameCube controller). Still hoping for a Forza announcement tho.
Any chance that you guys will review Citadelum? Looks interesting, but surprisingly little can be found about the Switch 2 version.
@daftmagician I wasn't going to comment, but I would like to let you know that I won't be getting the game. This incredible pre-order bonus also did not change my mind, but I'm happy for you and others who are excited for the game.
@ProPAIN Fair enough, I also think that is incredibly stupid of them and doubt the sincerity of that apology. However, I also doubt Nintendo will let it slide if Adhoc wrongfully tries to throw them under the bus.
@Discostew Okay, but then why do they have to say that they are confident they can patch some of the censored content back in? That sounds like they don't think they can deliver the fully uncensored version even after patches. And I just find it odd that everyone is so convinced Adhoc must be the one lying, while their statement now is much more direct than what Nintendo said. They even say they were surprised by it as well. If this is really all a lie to cover themselves it's going to come back to them hard.
Also what people have previously stated about content of other games does not necessarily need to apply to Dispatch? As they do seem to push the border for the type of content you usually see in videogames.
Anyway, if they manage to solve everything with a patch that would be great, I'll buy it. If they don't also fine, I'll play something else.
Unless Adhoc is lying (that would be quite risky..), why people keep mentioning the 'they could have just done 2 versions like Cyberpunk, they just didn't want to do that'. They are clearly saying here that the content didn't pass Nintendo's guidelines and they didn't have much of a choice in the matter.
@PtM I'm aware. It's also a game that averaged a 7.0 around it's release, which was 12 or 13 years ago. That the game was still discussed regularly has more to do with a dedicated group of gamers out of all those total sales rather than that it was an instant classic or anything.
@Friendly How is this evidence tho? This could still be done in agreement with Nintendo? Adhocs statement implied it was done like that, a random guy on Reddit supports your claim and still uses words like 'likely they did this because they are a small Indie developer'. They are still guessing.
You might be right, you might not be but you haven't found a smoking gun. Frankly, I don't care that much, so as the other guy said, stop tagging me over this.
@Quarbit oh please, you really think parents nowadays wouldn't know there is a large variety of games available for a console? You think their kids also don't watch Netflix because there are mature movies on the platform? I just don't think your point is valid.
Funny to see all these free speech warriors come out just to show their disapproval. They don't have anything interesting to say and never seem to realize there is also something like the right place and moment to discuss things.
Anyway, I'm not interested in the game myself. I didn't get the appeal back when the 3ds game released and I still don't see it. But nice to see many people excited for it!
@Quarbit How many parents would buy an interactive story that is rated 18+ for nudity and strong language for their kids? Or how many parents will buy Cyberpunk or the upcoming Resident Evil by accident for their kids? All high profile games, that are not targeted at children.
Sorry but the argument does not hold up at all. It's still not a game for kids, just there are huge black bars now for us as well.
@Friendly your source is someone on Reddit tho? Did someone from the development team share this on discord? Or are you using some other guy on the internet claiming the same as you to be right? Lol. Also you claiming the devs are probably after the bad press? Sorry but most things you say hardly make any sense dude.
Anyway, as someone already commented on the Reddit thread, they already had the toggle option in the game. It's not like it needed a whole lot of adjustment to deliver the 2 versions. In the end whether it's Nintendo or the devs fault doesn't even matter that much. People are rightfully upset and won't get the game. That for sure hurts the developer more than it ever would hurt Nintendo.
@Friendly ah right, that was kind of a joke. Still so far Nintendo is the only platform that received the censored version of this game. So perhaps not in others, but it is actually true in this case in particular?
Also you keep blaming it on the developer as it was their choice, but they stated:
"Different platforms have different content criteria, and submissions are evaluated individually. For our Switch release, we worked with Nintendo to adapt certain elements so Dispatch could be on their platform."
This reads as if they wanted it to be on Switch they had to adapt because of Nintendo. Anyway I'm done with the discussion lol.
@Friendly I'm just stating my opinion about a topic that is considered controversial by many and passionately defended by only a few people, like yourself.
It should be up to me to decide whether I want the censored version or not. Like in all the other versions of the game... I can't think of any reason why it would be good to get this version compared to the others. Maybe those people who always claim Nintendo is just for kids have a point after all 🙃
@Friendly Why are you defending this decision by Nintendo so strongly? The dev had the option to toggle censorship right there in the game.
On Playstation and PC you can play it and intended, but Nintendo decides that we can't handle it? It's just a weird decision for them to make on a 18+ game. How is your 'Youtube some boobs then' even a valid argument? You can't be serious with that 🤣
Hmm I was looking forward to it, and while I do not necessarily care a lot whether I can see some cartoon genitals or not, it does suck that Nintendo feels they need to censor the artists original vision (and that we get annoying black blocks..). If a game is listed for 18+ why do they need to do this. Weird move and I might just play it somewhere else then.
@Rykdrew Damn, didn't know that. Bit if a bummer I guess, but I still want the GameCube controller out of nostalgic feelings. So would still try it with this game anyway.
Just wondering since you seem to know more about it, how is it only 3-4 levels in practice? According to some forums there should 256 levels? Would love to know more!
@RainbowGazelle Plenty of other websites also scored this as 10/10. It averaged 9/10 out of more than 100 critic reviews, so picking out this one to make a point of overrating Nintendo games is a bit odd.
People with amiibo will be unhappy thinking is this all? But I have zero interest in amiibo, so for me it's actually a good thing that they don't do anything meaningful. Also it would be hard to justify that after paying full price for a game you need to spend another €20 on a toy to get something essential.
Would be nice to have an additional set of joy-cons for 4 player couch multiplayer in games like Mario Kart or Mario Party. But unfortunately that doesn't happen enough to spend €90 on it.
I'd probably check it out if it's the free War Zone version. Other than that I don't think Call of Duty is a big deal anymore at the moment, and don't see myself spending €70 on it. Unless they go above and beyond and create a must have game (they won't, and I doubt they even could if they wanted to at this point) I don't see this becoming a huge success.
@Joe11 Well, you have a great taste in games. I also enjoy indie games but they are not a direct replacement or comparable for me. Cyberpunk and Yakuza 0 are both great games tho, can't go wrong with either of them. I do think Nintendo first party games have been very good to great (Mario Kart, Donkey Kong and Kirby) and don't really have a better alternative for the exact same type of game. (I haven't played Metroid yet and the Warrior games I don't really enjoy myself)
@GoldenSunRM I interpreted your original comment as writing of the whole game because of the baby characters in the story mode, not just as a complaint about the story mode itself.
I agree that the baby's are the least exciting characters from the Mario franchise. I'll still check out the story mode, and I really like the idea of the 30 different Fever rackets in the game. I'm confident it will be a great game.
@GoldenSunRM Fair enough. But you have been enjoying (that's another assumption on my part lol) 1000s of hours on these games, and apparently are still not happy with them?
I just think it's such a pity that everyone keeps saying how these games are so bare-bones and not worth it. I can understand that if you don't like sports game adding the Mario theme to it will not make it great experience. But as far as arcade sports games go, these are pretty great with polished gameplay and probably the last fun and big releases that are left within the genre. For that alone I hope they continue making them.
@GoldenSunRM It just seems that sports games are not for you. If you like the gameplay they are basically playable till forever, especially in multiplayer. They don't need a fleshed out 60h story or a full redesign every release. Tennis is still tennis after all.
@Joe11 which 3rd party games are superior and cheaper compared to Nintendo's recent games? And please don't come with Sonic Crossworlds again (it's good, not better and lacks all the charm).
I'll pick it up, generally like tennis games and never got around playing Aces. Also, I know most people dislike it but I think the core gameplay of Mario Strikers Battle League was absolutely great. I guess there is little love for arcade sports game, because if the gameplay is that good I personally don't need a story mode (as a requirement for a sport game, really?) and all that extra stuff to enjoy it. It's like complaining that NBA Jam doesn't have a story mode. Cool that they included one in here, but definitely not the main draw of the game for me.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream For Switch?
@Erigen Charm is very subjective tho. I was never a fan of the Mii design (it's ugly) and the graphics themselves do not really set this apart either.
The 3ds game was also not really highly rated at all at the time, but seems to have developed some cult following.

Re: Rumour: Call Of Duty's Nintendo Release Is Apparently On Target For 2026
I'd probably check it out if it's the free War Zone version. Other than that I don't think Call of Duty is a big deal anymore at the moment, and don't see myself spending €70 on it. Unless they go above and beyond and create a must have game (they won't, and I doubt they even could if they wanted to at this point) I don't see this becoming a huge success.
Re: Mario Tennis On Switch 2 Has 38 Playable Characters – "The Most In Series History"
Re: Mario Tennis On Switch 2 Has 38 Playable Characters – "The Most In Series History"
Re: Mario Tennis On Switch 2 Has 38 Playable Characters – "The Most In Series History"
Re: Mario Tennis On Switch 2 Has 38 Playable Characters – "The Most In Series History"
@GoldenSunRM It just seems that sports games are not for you. If you like the gameplay they are basically playable till forever, especially in multiplayer. They don't need a fleshed out 60h story or a full redesign every release. Tennis is still tennis after all.
Re: Mario Tennis On Switch 2 Has 38 Playable Characters – "The Most In Series History"
