I loved my clear Game Boy Pocket. The only downside was the yellowing from sweat/sunlight/age, but that happens with white and gray hardware, too.

@neolestat
I was completely unaware of this US SNES vitriol until today. I was a little surprised for a second, but then I remembered that this is the internet and that people on the internet like to complain about things that don't matter at all.
Like the people who make a point of commenting that Sega Mega Drive is a much better name than Sega Genesis every single time the latter is brought up.
Personally I just love Nintendo consoles in all their forms, SNES included. Sometimes I do wish the SNES controller had the colorful buttons of its SFC equivalent, though.
That is the absolute CUTEST. And an incredibly impressive handmade costume. Talk about wife goals.
That little girl has impeccable taste in costume choices! Kid goals!
@Ryu_Niiyama Moms ARE awesome like that. My mom used to make great costumes like that for my siblings and I. I still remember the Darkwing Duck costume she made, complete with a cape, felt hat, gas gun, and soft foam beak.
@Quix It's a fantastic deal for families who all play Animal Crossing. It's a terrible deal for individuals who just want to play N64 games. I think Nintendo should offer nonsubscribers the option to buy individual games, like, say, Super Mario Bros. 3, Donkey Kong Country, and Banjo-Kazooie. They'd still make plenty of money that way. Perhaps even more since some people only want a few of these games and will never pay for NSO. You can buy Tetris 99. Why can't you buy Super Mario Bros?
I'm happy with what I'm getting right off the bat, and I'm hoping they'll continue to add games and DLC to the service. But I completely understand why some people are very unhappy with the pricing.
If I were just paying for a single membership and the only new content were the N64 and Genesis games, there's no way I would pay $50. But all six members of my family including myself own a Switch and play Animal Crossing. For all six of us to purchase the HHP DLC, it would cost around $125. The fact that access to this DLC is included with the NSO Expansion Pack makes it well worth $80, and the N64 games on top of that really seal the deal for me. I can even add two more friends to bring the total number of members up to eight, and $8 per person is a pretty sweet deal. I'll wait for a sale on eShop cards around Black Friday like I did last year, and this will be a phenomenal deal when all is said and done.
Doesn't the ages 6± on the box art mockup indicate that the two pack will indeed release stateside, at least? I've noticed my imported and Japan exclusive amiibo lack that age rating. My PAL boxes don't have one, either.
@Chibi_Manny
I worried about that a little, that there would be one fighter with no amiibo, but then I thought, surely agreeing to the production of an amiibo is part of the negotiations for every new fighter.
If anything maybe certain manufacturers have to produce certain figures due to exclusive merchandising rights.
@rjejr Well, the creator appears to have composed a Labo version of The Only Thing They Fear is You, Doom Eternal's main theme, so, yeah, I would have thought it was Doom even without any other context.
@Roam85 I'm going to say it, and you know it to, "China steals everything", and I don't care if it looks good, if it sells they steal it, I mean hell, there was even a tv show host in China, pretty popular, guess what? he stole the work, so I think its great that people in china are trying to back some OG content, and thats also why china hates Ginshin impact, bc its just plays on "China steals everything" (Plus they banned winnie the pooh ):
@Damo You really should. Actually, you kind of have to, now that you've given the idea life. You could have the most confusing and unsettling business cards since Tobias Fünke's, and that sounds pretty hell to Bongo.
@Damo I think the damage has already been done. I won't be surprised if people start commenting "Hell to Bongo" on all of your articles (and maybe even Sonic reviews) from now on, or until they get bored or if they forget. Hell to Bongo, indeed.
Video games are video games. Most of the people reading this article probably have access to a computer and could therefore try these demos. If a game is on Switch, but you can only find a demo on another platform, it makes perfect sense to try the game on that platform.
I'm very confused by this article. The ability to purchase event themes for 30 tickets has been in the game for about a year now. I know because I played a ton of Tetris 99 last year, earning enough tickets to purchase the Kirby and Fire Emblem event themes I had missed out on previously.
I feel like anyone expecting a full blown secret seventh fighter are just setting themselves up for disappointment. I think the most likely bonuses we could get are, in order of most to least likely, nothing at all, a Mii costume, a stage, an echo fighter, a fighter with no stage or spirit board, and finally a full fledged challenger pack.
I could maybe see the final fighter having an echo, like say Crash and Coco Bandicoot, as others have suggested.
Personally I'd rather expect nothing and be pleasantly surprised if anything comes of this.
No thanks. I'm not putting myself through that again. I'll just wait a year or two until I can inevitably buy them secondhand for a decent price, like I did with all the old Club Nintendo rewards I missed out on the first go around. The western set has fewer pins than the Japanese set, anyway, so I'll just import. I'd honestly rather just buy the set than put all this work into a mere CHANCE to get a set for "free."
I feel like it's going to be either Min Min, because she's the most popular character, or Spring Man and/or Ribbon Girl, because they're the mascots, or Biff because he would be the funniest and least expected choice.
I have a hard time believing this really tricked that many people. The tweet makes absolutely no sense out of context. It's clearly meant to promote Animal Crossing and has nothing to do with Smash Bros.
Why are so many Smash fans convinced that everything Nintendo does is Smash related?
That being said, I think 2B actually is fairly likely to end up in Smash Bros. at some point. I could see her being the Joker of Fighters Pass 2, so to speak.
Huh. Well, this just shot down my theory that Astral Chain could inspire fighter + stage DLC, since those usually come with a bunch of new spirits for the DLC spirit board. I wonder why this didn't happen at launch?
@sketchturner According to the most recently released sales figures, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS sits between Melee and Brawl at 9.54 million, while for Wii U ranks below the original Super Smash Bros. at 5.37 million, making it the lowest selling entry in the series.
Does anyone else feel like this game has a good chance of being represented in Smash Bros, possibly even by a playable fighter? I don't recall coming across so much as a spirit from Dragalia Lost. I would think that they would have had a spirit event by now if they were going to do it, since they've had events for Nintendo LABO and Daemon X Machina. It just seems weird and conspicuous that a successful Nintendo-published game has gone completely unmentioned in a game that features some form of content from just about every single Nintendo game ever.
What's even weirder to me, though, is I never really hear anyone talking about this. Not on YouTube, Reddit, SmashBoards. It's like the fan bases for the two games have no overlap.
If only the side bar on the North American box were black instead of red, the 007 logo and firey explosion effects wouldn't blend in so much and it would be perfect. I have the Players Choice GOTY edition in my personal collection, and I think the gold side bar suits the cover a lot better than the red one. I mean, it is GOLDEN Eye, after all.
@KazooieTooie Grant Kirkhope confirmed in an interview with Shesez on YouTube that there would be multiple remixes. He said he thought about doing a medley of many different Banjo-Kazooie songs, but Nintendo told him not to worry about that and just focus on one song, because they had other people working on new arrangements of other songs. https://youtu.be/EnTdb5wgV2g (He mentions other remixes around the 5:50 mark.)
I have actually seen this before, a few months ago, I think, but it's such a great guitar duel I had to watch it again. Plus I love Banjo-Kazooie music. It's been playing in my head nonstop since the Direct and I've been watching plenty of videos celebrating Kirkhope's masterfully cartoony work. This is one of the best, though. I lost it when he said "now, get the [bonk!] off my property."
@thesilverbrick I've been thinking the same thing since December. While I know Sakurai is a fan of Persona 5 and has praised it in the past, the fact that he chose to include Joker, of all characters, in the fighters pass seems very telling. We know that Sakurai chose five fighters from a list of options presented by Nintendo, which must mean that Nintendo was already in talks with Atlus about potentially licensing their characters. Why on Earth would all parties involved settle on a PlayStation exclusive character when Shin Megami Tensei V is in development exclusively for Nintendo Switch? SMT has a long history with Nintendo, and a fighter in Smash would be a great way to promote the game.
The most logical explanation for including Joker in Smash is to stir up hype for Persona 5 on Switch, a game which otherwise would likely have been seen as just a port of a relatively niche, albeit critically acclaimed title. Now Persona 5 has the attention of at least some of the 12+ million people who bought Ultimate, and Ultimate has the attention of the 2+ million people who played P5. That kind of cross promotion is far less effective if people have to buy two different consoles to play both games.
The end of an era. While I'm glad that Reggie is able to retire at such a young age, I do feel a bit sad over this news, if only for the fact that he's been the face of NoA for about half my life, and I'm going to miss seeing him around. I wish him all the best and hope he'll enjoy the rest of his life.
While I wasn't expecting any major new SSBU announcements, I was a little surprised that what they did say was so vague, and that they didn't show any actual gameplay of Joker. I expect they'll air another Smash Direct in March or April, then, so that Sakurai can show us Joker and all of the other content (Persona stage, music, spirits) included in Challenger Pack 1, and also explain in detail the new content in 3.0.0 (assuming it's anywhere near as substantial as they hinted). The announcement of Challenger Pack 2 in a teaser trailer at the very end seems like a pretty safe bet, as well.
@BLD Oh, I know Waluigi has fans who genuinely want to play as him in Smash. I'm not saying that everyone asking for his inclusion on the roster is only joking. And I'm sure that Waluigi's Community Service for Nintendo 3DS would sell more than a few copies.
What I'm saying is that the main reason why Waluigi's exclusion from the roster and his role as an assist trophy has caused so much of an uproar, and why the story has received so much attention from gaming news outlets over the past few months isn't because Waluigi is an insanely popular character who got snubbed in favor of niche characters like Ridley and K. Rool. It's because a lot of people think it's funny to act like they feel that Waluigi was unfairly rejected and disgraced. Hence the Washington Post articles with titles like "Waluigi was robbed and humiliated by Nintendo, and his fans are furious". It's a joke. A meme.
I've been keeping up with Smash speculation since the Brawl era. The size of Waluigi's fan base has always been comparable to Krystal, Tingle, and Lyn. In other words, his fellow assist fighters. Just popular enough to have a small role in the game, but not enough to make the roster. It wasn't until very recently that Waluigi gained so much attention online. Because to a lot of people, it's a meme, like "Shrek for Smash" was back in 2015.
Just watch, at next year's E3, Nintendo will announce a brand new game starring Waluigi... exclusively for Nintendo 3DS, and launching long after the internet has moved on to newer and increasingly vapid and insipid memes.
Awesome. The physical release and amiibo are all going to be a day one buy for me. I already have them preordered.
I bought the original Shovel Knight for Wii U a few years ago, when it was on sale for less than ten bucks. It is one of my favorite games, and I've sunk many hours into it. The fact that they've added so much free DLC for early adopters like me makes me feel like I practically owe it to them to double dip, plus I like collecting physical editions of my favorite games. Yacht Club Games has earned my loyalty for years to come. I wish them nothing but success.
Like the many others who have already commented, I also misread "Star Was" as "Star Wars" and thought you meant that Joe Keery was in both Stranger Things and Star Wars. I was trying to remember who he could have played. Perhaps you should rephrase that as "Stranger Things Actor" or "Stranger Things Star Joe Keery Was"?
Anyway, I totally remember this commercial, now! How... strange. Har har har, yeah, I'll see myself out.
@Mogster I don't know whether it was how he "got started", but Paul Rudd was definitely in a SNES commercial in the early 1990s. Just Google "Paul Rudd in Nintendo commercial" and you'll see it. It's pretty funny. Typical 90s cheesiness.
@MarinoKadame I agree. I think it's a shame that Mii character creation hasn't evolved much in the last ten years (wow that makes me feel old), and moving forward with Miitomo and especially NX, I'd really like to see more options. There's really no reason why they can't keep adding new "parts" to each system's Mii Maker while retaining the classic and simplistic feel of the original Mii characters.
@swordx Haha, I had a feeling someone would point that out before I edited my comment. You're right! I've never played MK7 so I wouldn't know, but I am still a bit surprised a Wuhu Island track wasn't remixed in Mario Kart 8!
I just watched this video last night.
You know, Wuhu Island may not have been as heavily utilized as Shigeru Miyamoto may have originally intended, but to be fair, it has been an important location in several series outside of Wii Sports: Pilotwings, Wii Fit, Mario Kart, and Super Smash Bros. all come to mind, and there may be more I'm not thinking of.
I wonder how much more Miyamoto had in mind, and whether we'll ever see the island live up to it's full potential, or even become prominent again?
I suppose it may end up becoming as unique to the Wii generation as the Wii Remote itself.
Edit: I had a feeling I was missing something, so I looked it up and realized that there was indeed a Wuhu Island track in Mario Kart 7. I've never played it, so I wouldn't know.
@waluigifan1 I'm going to take a stab in the dark here and suggest that Daisy and Rosalina have been so popular within the Super Mario fanbase lately is because they are characters who are 1.) Female and 2.) Perceived as having much more interesting and better defined personalities than Peach, whom I've seen on more Top Ten "Worst" lists than I can count, and yet 3.) They haven't been quite as heavily over marketed and overexposed as Peach, who now seems boring, bland and overused by comparison.
I don't have anything against Peach personally, nor do I have any prefence or strong opinion in regard to fictional princesses, but it would definitely seem as though she has fallen out of favor with older gamers in the Western world, and therefore the fanbase seems to be asking for something else.
Ugh, I literally just bought the GBA version on a whim last month... Which I later realized I paid about ten dollars too much for, and I don't even like it that much so far. I would have much rather got it on Wii U for $8. Sigh... Oh well.
I'm curious about something.
I already have Sin and Punishment on Wii, so I can get it on the eShop for $2 anytime I want. Now that it's on sale, will it be even cheaper or does my discount override the sale, making it $2 no matter what?
I can't get to my Wii U just now to check, so could someone else who's had something similar happen confirm how it works?
TL;DR
If you have a discount on a game that goes on sale, do both the discount and sale price apply?

It wasn't until very recently that Waluigi gained so much attention online. Because to a lot of people, it's a meme, like "Shrek for Smash" was back in 2015.
Re: Fans' Passion For Waluigi's Smash Exclusion Is "Fantastic", Says Nintendo's Andrew Collins
Just watch, at next year's E3, Nintendo will announce a brand new game starring Waluigi... exclusively for Nintendo 3DS, and launching long after the internet has moved on to newer and increasingly vapid and insipid memes.
Re: Shovel Knight Is Getting Two DLC Packs, A Physical Edition And amiibo All On The Same Day
Re: Random: Stranger Things Star Was In Smash Bros. Wii U Commercial
@Mogster
I don't know whether it was how he "got started", but Paul Rudd was definitely in a SNES commercial in the early 1990s.
Just Google "Paul Rudd in Nintendo commercial" and you'll see it. It's pretty funny. Typical 90s cheesiness.
Re: Video: Learn About the Quirky History of Wii Sports and Its Role in Bringing Us Mii Characters
Maybe in Mario Kart 9.
Re: Video: Learn About the Quirky History of Wii Sports and Its Role in Bringing Us Mii Characters
Re: Review: EarthBound (New 3DS / SNES)
I've gotta say, the tagline for this review is one of the best and cleverest I've ever seen on this site.
Haha, this game smells lovely, indeed.
Re: Masahiro Sakurai Wanted Geno to be a Playable Smash Bros. Fighter
@waluigifan1
I'm going to take a stab in the dark here and suggest that Daisy and Rosalina have been so popular within the Super Mario fanbase lately is because they are characters who are 1.) Female and 2.) Perceived as having much more interesting and better defined personalities than Peach, whom I've seen on more Top Ten "Worst" lists than I can count, and yet 3.) They haven't been quite as heavily over marketed and overexposed as Peach, who now seems boring, bland and overused by comparison.
I don't have anything against Peach personally, nor do I have any prefence or strong opinion in regard to fictional princesses, but it would definitely seem as though she has fallen out of favor with older gamers in the Western world, and therefore the fanbase seems to be asking for something else.
Re: Final Fantasy Tactics Advance Pegged for North American Release on 28th January
Ugh, I literally just bought the GBA version on a whim last month... Which I later realized I paid about ten dollars too much for, and I don't even like it that much so far. I would have much rather got it on Wii U for $8.
Sigh... Oh well.
Re: 17 Games Get North American eShop Discounts in the Winter Warm-Up Sale
I'm curious about something.
I already have Sin and Punishment on Wii, so I can get it on the eShop for $2 anytime I want. Now that it's on sale, will it be even cheaper or does my discount override the sale, making it $2 no matter what?
I can't get to my Wii U just now to check, so could someone else who's had something similar happen confirm how it works?
TL;DR
If you have a discount on a game that goes on sale, do both the discount and sale price apply?
