Re: Analysts Suggest Nintendo Switch May Have Sold 14.6 Million, Trounced Wii U Lifetime Sales

Hyrule

@WaveBoy To me the concept is essentially the same, though executed differently. Yes the Switch cannot be used as a second screen, due to the docking requirement, so games that made use of this feature of the Wii U will obviously not work on the Switch.
But both have the following similarities for example:
6.2" touchscreen, dual functionality, with the ability to play games remotely, with the same if not similar graphical output.

You can see Nintendo's thinking in that the Switch is the next logical step. Being tethered to a maximum distance from your Wii U, was a great idea but poorly marketed. Being able to actually pick up and take the game with you wherever you go as the Switch allows, is an even better idea and has been deftly marketed. That's simply the way I see it, though you're welcome to disagree.

Who knows what else Nintendo has up their sleeves, no one was expecting the Labo

Playing smash bros last night, I took a good look at the Wii U Gamepad. It's literally a tech demo for the Switch. And whilst the Wii U wasn't marketed correctly and didn't have the desired impact, it had some cracking games, which some of the Switch generation are now getting to play (I see nothing wrong with ports). It's great numbers for the Switch and the momentum looks to continue moving forward well into the next decade. Official numbers out on Jan 31st I believe.

Re: UK Pricing For Nintendo Labo Is Confirmed

@Hotfusion My point is it's too early for people to be raging, when they haven't had a chance to use the product yet nor is peddling this misconception that you are paying £60 for cardboard, that's just silly.

Re: UK Pricing For Nintendo Labo Is Confirmed

I'm sold so far, hopefully get to try it out in London, should I be lucky enough to get a ticket. I never understand the logic of some people. The average cost of a game is between £50-£60. You get the game and the set of interactive modelstoys to build for roughly the same price. But more importantly no one besides Nintendo and the lucky few have had a chance to play with these hands-on. It's launch day all over again for some people, "OMG Joycon so expensive, omg pro controller so expensive". PS3 launched at nearly $600 people

Re: Sorry Netflix Fans, You Won't Be Watching Stranger Things On Your Switch Anytime Soon

Netflix have walked back on the comment posted on twitter and stated "Correction: We are still exploring the opportunity with Nintendo, but don't have definitive plans to share at this time. The incorrect original tweet has been removed."
So there you have it folks, just because it's on twitter doesn't make it true. Now whether you believe Netflix should be on the Switch or not, is your own personal opinion, I personally don't care either way.

Re: Nintendo Switch Hardware Sales Reach Another Level in Japan

@JaxonH I've been asked about 6 times this week on a rush hour train into london, 'What is that you are playing with'? When I say the switch most are aware of the advertising and are impressed you can pick up and go. One guy this week spent the entire hour journey staring over my shoulder as I played Doom. I could feel the jealousy radiating from him, haha.

Re: Guide: The Best Nintendo Switch Micro SD Cards

Hyrule

@Farmboy74 Same just bought one myself. It's only about £30 more than a decent 256gb SD card and £60 discount. I've got about 70GB left on my current 128gb sd card. With Resident Evil Revelations 1&2 coming out next week, that's another 36gb gone, leaving 34gb. I'm looking to get Skyrim digitally as it's the same price as physical, that's 14.5gb. Leaving just under 20gb left.

Not long left for anyone interested:

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Analysis Points To Switch Sonic Forces Being The Worst Version

Hyrule

Just my perspective as my copy arrived today. I've played about an hour of it so far. It's fast as all Sonic games generally are. The controls are responsive and so far it's been enjoyable. I'll try it docked when I get home, but so far haven't noticed any slowdown, and graphically it looks fine to me. I'm not going to be comparing it side by side with the other console versions or having a nervous breakdown because it runs at 30fps. If as I play more of the game it's detrimental to the gaming experience then sure, I'll be the first to call it out.

I use my switch as my main home and portable console and my PC for things like Wow and high end/4k gaming. The PS4 gets dusted off for exclusives and I don't own an Xbox.
If as time goes by it turns out that this a lousy port as some are saying, due to Sega devs not optimising as best as they could, then Sega is where the venom and fire should be directed at.
But if you want a fun, albeit standard 3d Sonic game for your Switch then you could do worse. If the game doesn't interest you then that's ok as well.

Re: Bethesda Adopts "Popular Internet Saying" To Promote DOOM On Switch

All the usual forum suspects regurgitating the same old vitriol about why would you buy this or that for the switch. It's not 60fps, its one or two years old, it's a port, it's on steam and blah blah blah. Sigh... Anyway, day one purchase for me as I have a long commute and regularly play my switch on the train into london, plus it's a hit in the office with the lads.
