Re: Retro Studios is Hiring and Tweeting, Which is Nice

HeroOfTime32

@ThanosReXXX I think he's confusing retro being on a hiring spree and filling positions vs them having not been able to fill said positions.

Sure Retro has tweeted positions in the past...but for all you (@LeRaposa) know, Retro has just been expanding due to an increase in scope from the boss man (Nintendo).

Having positions open is not a bad thing....in reality it's just telling you that pure awesomeness is soon to be on the way!

Re: Deals: Black Friday - New 3DS Super Mario Black & White Edition

This is a really great deal if you were in the market for a 3DS.

@Nintendofan83 @Flashmanharry It doesn't make sense to drop the price/run a sale on the Wii U if you're ceasing production. The final limited quantity of units will inevitably sell (finite quantity), so you're only hurting yourself by not maximizing profits. In fact, that's a prime example of supply/demand being that supply now becomes nill. The opposite holds true for 3DS, where they want to still encourage and perpetuate the base for a little while longer.

Re: Major League Baseball Owners Look Set To Approve Seattle Mariners Sale

@ironside1911 And why exactly is that??

You know, sometimes if you have big plans in the pipeline you need the immediate capital to finance your plans.

It's pretty evident that for the past three years Nintendo has been doing just that.

It doesn't necessarily mean it's a desperation move. Companies do this all the time.

I understand that it is steady income...but very small income. The fire sale of it generates TONS of immediate capital that can be redistributed into other potentially higher yielding growth and profit plans.

@samuelvictor Where did you successfully pre-order at??

When the NL article went live a week or two ago, all web page links were something like "Oops, we couldn't find what you were looking for", etc. I'm assuming I was just a little too late, and missed the boat (I hope not).

I signed up for Amazon.com e-mail alerts in the meantime.

I'd love to know if you have any input. Thanks!

Re: EA Talks Possible Plans for NX

HeroOfTime32

Like another commenter mentioned... I think Nintendo is courting the Japanese 3rd-party devs first. "Taking care of their own". They know that a majority of 3rd-party Western devs need convincing first...based on past history.

Seems (to me) like they're going to have a great RPG catalogue, as I think Square Enix is going to definitely be on board. We've got DQX, DQXI, and I personally think Nintendo has made some serious offers to get FF7 Remake to come to the console (why else would Cloud have been on Smash??). This will go hand-in-hand with a re-release of Smash "Complete Edition" on NX.

Seems like Ubisoft is doing their usual (Just Dance, maybe some Rabbids crap, etc.). We've got limited info on the rest of their franchises, I.e. Assassins, Watch Dogs, etc.

As far as EA is concerned... #*%@ 'em. They're obv going to play it safe and sit and wait. They don't really care about "the gamer" anymore, just sales. Even though Nintendo needs them to an extent, they don't have much of a choice. Just gotta prove 'em wrong and hope they come running back for sales.

A strong showing of 1st-party titles, a novel console/handheld idea, and reliable 3rd-party support will get the console started off just fine. Once the snowball gets rolling, I'm sure we'll see the douches that are EA show up late to the party.

Guys like Square Enix, Capcom, Konami, Sega, Namco, Atlus & Platinum are going to be the 3rd-party backbone (if there is any) for NX.
