Re: Random: PETA Wants Nintendo To Add A Gun-Toting Chicken To Smash Bros. Ultimate

@Clarice The thing is, media is a dirty business. It's not always about facts and ethics. If an article about PETA and Smash will get a bunch of ad revenue, sometimes that's all it takes for a publisher to run it. They'll keep the machine going until stories about it aren't profitable. The only thing to do is to not click on the article, but that might be too hard for some people. I know I screwed up on that one. ;P

This is just a tweet used to get PETA attention on gaming news outlets, so that they can be in the news for the next relevant shocking thing they have pulled. It's also a ploy to get young impressionable people at their doorstep.

The only responsible thing is to ignore it. They know they have no chance they will get a character in Smash. They just want the media to fall for it. Unfortunately Nintendolife fell for it.

Re: Rumour: Huge Nvidia Database Leak Lists Unannounced Third-Party Games

HarvestGoddess

Square Enix is known to float fake leaks around on purpose in order to keep a secret. I was also once told that Final Fantasy XVI would be Agnes Philosophy by a staff member I happened to meet. I foolishly believed them because that did not happen.

Also the same thing happened when Square Enix characters were rumored for smash. They told us which ones, but mixed it in with other characters that weren't going to make it. Take Square Enix rumors with grains of salt.

Final Fantasy XIV rumors though.. now that is a different story due to the teams well known transparency.

@Strictlystyles Genshin Impact mobile style crap in our games? Absolutely. The Chinese game market is bringing some predatory practices into the world's game industry. However, what I do hope China brings is their unique sense of art direction and story telling. A lot of producers from China are wasting their talent on Gatcha crap, when they could be world renowned for making games without any kind of catch.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of Nintendo Direct At E3 2021?

HarvestGoddess

My thoughts are:

1. MAKE MORE AMIIBO AND SPECIAL EDITIONS. Don't just put some out, have them get scalped by bots, and then say "Sorry, you can get some on the shelves at launch." Then I have to compete with several people. That anxiety isn't fun for what should be a happy gaming day. -o-

2. Mario Party Superstars is AWESOME looking. I'm a bit disappointed its not DLC for Super Mario Party, but its honestly fine. I can just swap out the cartridges when I feel like having more boards. That means there are at least nine to play on the Switch (assuming there isn't a secret board or anything on Superstars.) I just hope it gets some form of DLC. Especially characters that underutilized like Paulina.

I absolutely have memories of playing the original three games at friends houses, so it looks wonderful to play.

3. Metroid Dread omg, but again see my first paragraph on why I'm a bit frustrated with Nintendo's marketing tactics. I have been waiting a long time to see if Dread would ever get reincarnated in some form. I'm glad to see that it really does look quite original in its styling. It stands out from other Metroids and looks pretty distinct. I dig it a lot.

4. Zelda is cool, but they really should do more than just have a Game and Watch. Not putting up more remasters is a mistep. It wouldn't be hard to port Windwaker HD, and Twilight Princess HD to the Switch after Skyward Sword.

5. Not really interested in the new Smash character. Don't get me wrong, because it's cool to see all the fighting characters together, but I'm sick of fist fighting ones. At least give us ones with cool powers, because as far as I'm concerned; Street Fighter, King of Fighters, and Tekken all feel the same to me. :x

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo And The Industry Needs To Get Serious About Game Preservation

HarvestGoddess

It is also legalities that ruin game preservation. The games I come from; Harvest Moon: 64, Friends of Mineral Town, More Friends of Mineral Town, Tale of Two Towns, DS, DS: Cute, Island of Happiness, Sunshine Islands, My Little Shop, Tale of Two Towns, and A New Beginning CANNOT be preserved in the current form as they are in the west, and europe, because of Natsume.

You may have saved my sisters and I in some of these games, but we are legally bound by something a simple farmer cannot solve. Natsume stole the name used outside of Japan, and made ports VERY HARD to re-release without the rights to the franchise name "Harvest Moon". If Xseed and Marvelous wish to port these games, they will have to go through the lengths of re-translating the originals IF they even still have them.

Get used to it, because unless they completely remake the games that me and my sister Harvest Goddesses come from, you probably will not see all of us in our original forms again.

I Gaia(appears in most games with a goddess), Mariel (Magical Melody), Sephia (Tree of Trainquility/Animal Parade), Marina (Hero of Leaf Valley), wish to see you again, but ports are almost impossible without the motivation of our devs, and the funding to do so. It is actually possible, because the games are not actually called Harvest Moon in the east. The series is called Bokujo Monogatari, and translates directly as "Farm Story" when translated directly. It just would take a lot to do so these days.
