Re: Nintendo Posts 43 Percent Revenue Drop

Hardy83

Probably a mix of 3DS, VERY poor software support (even by Nintendo), the fact it's a 6 year old system and it's probably just reach as many people as you're going to reach, probably a dabble in Apple taking some sales away from them.

Either way, they are still profiting on it, not losing. And the 3DS will sell millions so Nintendo isn't going broke any time soon.

Re: 3DS Coming to Japan by October

Hardy83

I sure it would be in Nintendo's best interest to get it out in all regions by Christmas. However there are so many factors to consider.

Price
Stock
Manufacturing speed
Software support
Marketing plans
Development times

Is the system even fully done? (Psst put two cameras on the inside, if you don't you're REALLY REALLY stupid NIntendo)
Will there be enough system to meet world demand?

And I'm probably missing a million and a half other issues that could determine the launch date.

Re: Bplus Blowing Up 3DS with Vector Tank 3D+

Hardy83

No, going to retail is smart, look at how well games sell when a system launches? Many DS and Wii games were garbage when they came out, but sold a million (Carnival Games) because there wasn't really any other choices.
For 3DS coming out with a simple, kind friendly looking 3D at launch they are guaranteed to do better then their digital games.
Also, I imagine with how poor their online system is, they would rather support retail more? lol Nintendo really needs to explain how they plan to improve their online services.

Re: The War on DS Piracy may be Hard to Win, but Iwata Optimistic with 3DS

Hardy83

Piracy and homebrew are always linked together because you need one to get to the other.
You don't JUST pirate a system without having homebrew. Which sucks because it just hurts those homebrewers are are making what I consider legitimate software for it. I think this would be remedied if Nintendo, as many people have already stated, eased up on who can make and what can be made on their digital stores.

This is where I think where Nintendo should use online. Pushing updates, and pushing checks on the system whenever the system is near a Wifi signal. Yeah, I think every 3DS should constantly check if the system has been modded and FORCE the person to update or remove the modded software or lose access to all online functions of the system and possibly more.

Course Nintendo needs to fix their pricing structure and reasons why people pirate in the first place. Cost of games (Hi DSiWare) and region access to games, i.e, bring more games over like Soma Bringer.

Re: Iwata: Blame Poor Games Not Poor Economy for Sales Decrease

Hardy83

Iwata: It's totally the crap games that hurt the industry. We're personally not going to do anything about it even though the Wii currently has the most shovelware there is. It would be rude of us to implement some sort of quality assurance for games doing to the system as some of our games wouldn't even pass but it's totally the reason why.

Re: Nintendo Considering Online Play and DLC for Future Zeldas

Hardy83

Nintendo is still new to DLC. I mean their only real game with DLC is Animal Crossing and it's just stupid items now and again, so don't expect quality DLC like what Rockstar does for their games or Besthesda or however you say their name.
Just like HD, just like online, I expect Nintendo to be behind when it comes to DLC by a generation or two.

Though, at least we can expect most of it to be free if they do make DLC.

Re: DSiWare Will Not Be Transferable Unless Nintendo Makes Changes

Hardy83

One of the MANY MANY reasons Nintendo's online structure is absolute garbage and YEARS behind when compared to competition.

I stand by my opinion that DSiWare and Wii have THE worst online structure I've ever experienced in a video game system, that includes computers.

Nintendo does amazing things, but online is not one of them. Obviously I would love for them to change that.

Re: E3 2010: Wii 2 Will Probably be 3D, says Iwata

Hardy83

3D will probably be much more affordable when Nintendo finally releases a new system in like 10 years. lol
Nintendo plays catch up because they have cost in mind. 3D will be cheap when they finally support it. Just like HD.

Re: E3 2010: Rumour: 3DS May Allow Game Installs

Hardy83

Downloading games from a store would be awesome, but unless Nintendo changes their set up to one more similar to PSN where purchases are bound to an account and not the system, I am not buying anymore digital content from Nintendo.

Re: de Blob 2 is Going Underground and Multiplatform

Hardy83

Doesn't matter who's fault it is anymore (personally it's everyones)
Third party Wii games don't sell that well and devs/publishers no longer want to take the risk for big games anymore. So we're going to see more and more watered down ports until Nintendo's next system.

Re: Rumour: 3DS Could Rival PS3 and 360 in Power Stakes

Hardy83

I'll remain skeptical. I find it hard to believe the 3DS is as powerful as the 360 or PS3. If it is, I think the battery would take a huge hit, unless Nintendo plans for this thing to be like the DSiXL and be a household device.

I would believe Gamecube graphics more than this rumour.

Re: Review: Blood Beach (WiiWare)

Hardy83

I remember when Reggie was talking about how WiiWare and DSiWare will be about quality and not quantity. That games will be better overall than say the App store or other services....Yeah....I don't remember him saying anything about their online content recently.

Re: New Zelda Aims for Easier Controls, Big Surprises

Hardy83

Complicated controls? The Zelda 3D series has had some of the best controls of any game, they have never been overly complicated.

How stupid do they think Nintendo players are?
I mean auto jump, auto lock, simple item mapping to buttons...It's incredibly easy.

Re: Nintendo "Happy with Virtual Console Pricing"

Hardy83

Some people know me. Some people know what I think about Nintendo's online pricing structure.

I'm gonna go over and play my 5 dollar Resident Evil and Dino Crisis on PSN, maybe play my 99 cent Dragon's Lair and Duke Nukem on my Ipod Touch.

Enjoy your 5 dollar NES game. lol Well it may be a good game at least.

Re: Tournament of Legends Trailer Smacks Us With a Multi-hit Combo

Hardy83

I don't know what some of you are talking about, this game looks a 100 times better then the muddy crap that was the old version of this game.
I think it looks like a very competent fighter....I will admit not having online will hurt it.. A LOT, but this game doesn't seem to be targeted towards us but parents and kids.
I hope it sells because I want HVS to earn money so they can fund their bigger projects.

Re: Kid Adventures: Sky Captain Has Lift-Off

Hardy83

@JimLad You'd be surprised how clueless some parents are.
Also this would probably help sales if anything, since they would see the ocean of games not labeled for kids and see this one that specifically says kids.

@opeter Yeah there are too many, but that's what you get for buying a system where the majority of the owners are mothers and kids. I bet the kid game to "core" game on the DS is massively in favour of the kids games too.

Re: Nintendo Profits Fall for the First Time Since 2004

Hardy83

"@Hardy83: Investors aren't as important to Nintendo as most companies though because of the fact that Yamauchi owns a lot(the majority?) of Nintendo."

Yamauchi is still an investor, Nintendo still has other investors. Nintendo is a openly traded company.
They are the ones that back Nintendo with funding and stock value, they matter just as much as any other company.
If Iwata said something along the lines of what you said, I bet you within a month he'd be out the door.

And yes, 2.4 billion is a lot, but a drop in half a billion is a lot also.

But I wouldn't worry, Nintendo always has tricks up it's sleeve. In fact I bet you anything the HD Wii or Wii 2 is already done and their just waiting for profits to drop even more. On top of the 3DS probably coming out this year.

Re: Nintendo Profits Fall for the First Time Since 2004

Hardy83

Yeah, making 2.4 billion is a lot for you but you try and tell investors it's no big deal profits dropped half a billion dollars.

At least it means this year we'll see kickin' stuff from Nintendo, since their best software and hardware are released when they start getting hungry for more money.

Re: Monster Hunter 3 a Roaring Sales Success in UK

Hardy83

So a third party core game succeeds... To bad it'll still be rare since the amount of time and money used to promote the game is well beyond that of most publishers save Capcom and Ubisoft.

But good for Capcom. I hope it makes them lots of money.

Re: Final Fantasy V and VI Technical Problems Prevent DS Conversions

Hardy83

"Hmm, strange. What sort of "technical issues" could there possibly be?"

The technical issues is, should we devlop this game for the DS when the 3DS is right around the corner?

Imagine a beautiful looking 3D Final Fantasy VI....drool if that came out at launch I would get the system for that game alone.

Re: First Look: Pearl Harbor Trilogy - 1941: Red Sun Rising

Hardy83

You can play both the Japanese and Americans. Though because it's a trilogy I don't know if one has more attention than the other in this.

Yeah, they asked for a price from us and we all said 700-800 because Legendo isn't as big as Nintendo or say the World of Goo guys, but unfortunately Nintendo will probably stell them it's a 1000-1500 point game. I'll still get it.

Re: First Look: Pearl Harbor Trilogy - 1941: Red Sun Rising

Hardy83

"Uh? Why there is a mouse cursor in the inferior right part of the video? XD" HAHAHAHA I didn't see that before...Someone forgot to move the mouse when recording footage! lol

"Does anyone know the controls used? (i.e. wiimote, nunchuk, classic controller, or gamecube controller)"

I can't remember exactly what the controls were but there were multiple choices. I believe classic controller was one of them. They learned their lessons from Three Musketeers.

I rarely use WiiWare now, but I"ll get this to show my support. It looks fun!

Re: Oh Look, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Sold Better Than Expected

Hardy83

1. What were their expectations?

2. What did it sell?

I'm sure either way it made money for them, but I want to see the numbers. I doubt it would be comparable to a PS3 or 360 successful launch, but I'm curious what a big developer considers a success on the Wii, since none of us really know.

Re: NA Wii Shop Channel Updated

Hardy83

It's something I guess, but they need to promote the service itself more as well.

Also the best thing they could do would be to have users rate the games they own, similar to how Apple does it, with a 1 to 5 star system. I bet that would filter out the crap cause I can't imagine anyone giving games like Cave Story lower than a 4 star.

Re: Wii Least Connected of U.S. Consoles

Hardy83

My issue with pricing is with Wii compared to PS3 (excluding Home ingame purchases, man some of that stupid is stupid overpriced). I don't own a 360 so I can't comment on XBLA games, though I can imagine I would give XBLA game more credit due to their size/length and visual/audio quality compared to that ever so stupid 40MB limit that forces any decent game to look like a 64 game or a side scroller.

To those saying that 54% of Wiis may be bigger than all PS3s or 360s online, maybe, but it's still 54% penetration and that is flat out pathetic.

I don't see Netflix fixing this as it accesses the Internet on it's own more than going into Nintendo's online system, or at leats the issues I have with the system, showing numbers might make some people feel better.

Re: Wii Least Connected of U.S. Consoles

Hardy83

It's easy really, Wiis online system is garbage compared to the others.

1. There is no user friendly interface, it's old, outdated and clunky compared to others. The Wii is about being user friendly so the online functions are totally foreign to many users.

2. NoA doesn't promote it. A little phamplet in some of their games. That's it. I imagine most people don't even know it's there.

3. No content. There are many good wiiware and vc games, but people who go online see barebones, ps3 and 360 have demos, videos, avatar areas, messaging, game dlc, movies and more. So these people go on a few times and gets bored. A shame for those good wiiware games.

4. Pricing. This issues is moe toward dsiware than wiiware but some games cost just too much.

5. Restrictions. This kind of recalls back to one, but a 40mb size restriction, limits to online play and friend codes and more, they all add up to an inferior online experience.

There are many more opinions that can be added, however I place no blame on the consumer or debs at all. For this part of the Wii I put all blame on Nintendo. They just flat out made a crap online system that people either don't know about or don't care to use.

Re: Red Steel 2 Blunted After Poor UK Chart Debut

Hardy83

You can blame no adverts, but be aware that most Nintendo games have next to none (like the new pokemon games) and they are in top place.

I've seen more prerolls, print and web ads than most Nintendo games save resort, nsmbwii and rythem whatever.

Re: Lumines Dev Not Impressed With 3DS

Hardy83

To be honest even Nintendo game don't sell was well anymore on the DS let alone 3rd parties.

I mean the new Zelda probably sold around a million, which is good, but not Nintendo good.

I would assume it's a mix of the market just being abolutely flooded with games good and bad, piracy and just lack of interest for the system.
His complaints lay with his experience as a developer for the DS. He's staying it'll be the same if Nintendo does some things... Well I imagine 3rd parties will make money in the beginning, but like DS and Wii after a few years it'll be the same thing over again.

Re: DS Successor To Offer 3D Gaming

Hardy83

I knew it. I mean their are adopting Apples way of doing handheld devices and doing an update every year with one big one every now and then.

I'll probably get it, but the lite version, I JUST got a DSi last winter, I'm not made of money.

Also I expect the 3D will be just like that DSiWare game, but I'm sure the embedded cameras will be better (Hopefully at least ONE megapixel lol) to follow your head better in various lighting conditions.
3D is neat, but adding a field of depth to a game is a much better way to do 3D gaming. Imagine if GTA or any open world game had depth? mmmm
