There's a lot of things to learn from XBLA, however it's not a perfect system. The best thing to do would look at EVERY digital system and take the best parts of all of them. This includes all the behind the scene stuff.
For the people complaining about Canada not getting them, don't worry. We get everything last. I mean EVERYTHING. If it's in the states, expect it 6-12 months later.
I'll go further into my comment. If Nintendo of America was REALLY serious about bringing it over, they'd do it now. If they are going to watch the game, they will most likely watch 4-6 months of sales in EU. If it does well enough they would THEN start to bring it over. That would be licensing, setting up prints, copyright, distribution, all that would most likely take 6 months or more. So if they were going to do it this way, the game would be out at earliest next holidays. When the Wii U is most likely already out. (The Wii U WILL be out by next Christmas, I guarantee it)
So unless they upscale it and make it a launch game for the Wii U (and probably sell them for 60-70 bucks), which seems unlikely and kind of spitting in the face of people who wanted it a year ago. It's not coming and Reggie is just using the standard carrot on a stick tactic NoA is known for.
Do I want to be wrong. Yes! But I'm sure many of you know, I have zero faith in Nintendo of America. At least while Reggie is the head.
Some people don't learn. This means nothing and is just a tease to keep people hopeful before they figure out what to tease you with next.
This game isn't coming over, stop thinking NoA cares. Everything that comes out of Reggie's mouth is marketing BS. It's his job and that's all he does. He doesn't speak to gamers as a gamer like Iwata does. He's a marketer and that's all he'll ever be. Number and money. Not games and fans.
@1 and @2 The whole concept of regions getting and not getting games is dumb. Nintendo should publish all their titles in every region and stop treating gamers as idiots. Oh American is dumb and don't want Xenoblade, or Europe is dumb and won't like Excitetrucks.
It's not just Nintendo, but this site is about Nintendo. The concept itself is stupid when it's large companies that can easily afford the localizations.
So what? More Woohoo Island? Maybe we can eventually walk around. Heaven forbid there be a "sims" like game where you can get a condo on Woohoo Island and then casually walk around and see your Miis everywhere.
Man, the PSP is unstoppable. Sony must be laughing their rears off knowing that they can stop support for the PSP and it'll still sell, while the 3DS struggles.
@Kholdstare No kidding. I would've thought that at least support for 3DSWare would've been a little more stable, seeing how (I think) it costs less then retail, but hey, I guess when you're a company that basically says screw you indie developers, you don't have lots of digital games flocking to your store.
He shouldn't be apologizing for this. Who cares? The whiners complain? He SHOULD be apologizing about the poor treatment to Nintendo's fans in North America, being treated as garbage because the head of NoA cares more about money then gamers.
So the early adopters paid a bit extra. Bit deal, NA Wii owners got screwed over from getting some amazing games.
I find it incredibly unlikely that they wouldn't sell the GBA games to the general public. After putting the effort into making them work on the 3DS, they don't want the money from the public?
They'll be selling them. They just say no right now to try and entice buying it at $250.
Nintendo isn't publishing this game. Marvelous Entertainment is aren't they?
Also I really doubt we'll see this come to NA, mainly because this is a too Japanese game, and people would flip out. Having those girls ripped in half with their guts spewing everywhere. That's okay. Bouncing boobs? That's not America buddy!
It funny that this has been going on for a while now even with the DS, but people are taking issue with it now on the 3DS. My guess would be that since there's so few games for the 3DS, having two use this non-delete feature seems like a lot.
I don't mind when Nintendo does this..But...At least give the consumers something interesting in the firmware update, like a video, or even a new AR hat. SOMETHING.
It's sad that Nintendo is worst at firmware updates then Sony, because Sony is REALLY bad at it. lol
Most people here aren't say there's no good games on WiiWare, there are some great games on WiiWare. What most people are complaining about is the WiiWare SERVICE, which in my opinion is possibly the worst service of it's kind ever made.
Horrible, horrible service.
Which makes the good games a sad story really because they never got the attention they should have gotten.
No future knowledge of upcoming releases by either consumer or the actual game makers. THIS was the single stupidest thing.
Never any sales, which EVERY other digital platform has in some form.
Game size limits hinder quality.
No demos, or at least there weren't for the longest time.
No real way to gauge what the game is with the exception of really small images.
Prices in general were way too high.
Process of downloading was slow and poorly implemented.
No easy way to see new content from the main UI of the console. Leaving many people not knowing the platform even exists.
Basically everything you could do wrong with a digital platform Nintendo did. I'm also not holding my breath on them making it better as the 3DS barely fixed any of the issues WiiWare had.
@13 Cipher Hard to keep faith when peoples past experiences with Nintendo and Nintendo's own track record seem to point to a direction that doesn't include any faith at all with VC being good, or even the online shop in general.
Just to note, at lot of games never make it out to retail. This happens for every systems. 8 games being canned isn't unusual.
I will note that because of what THIS game is, people are upset, but I also think because the 3DS is still starved for software that 8 games canned SEEMS like a high amount.
All I can say it. Early adopters of Nintendo systems. Fool you once, shame on Nintendo. You know how the rest goes. Just think about it when the Wii U comes out.
I don't blame Netflix for the cost increase. I blame the movie companies who's licenses expired demanding more money. This isn't a cash grab by Netflix, it's them dealing with greedy companies who have all the content.
Also, unless theirs 3D movies, I guess this is neat news, but pretty much every smartphone or console can stream Netflix, so it's nothing special.
@TheDarkness I'm gonna have to go and defend WaltElf's opinion. Game systems have transcended being just a gaming machine. If they JUST play games, they are viewed as toys. i.e. The Wii, even though that's not true for the system.
And you're being hypocritical saying consoles are for playing videos games, yet the Wii has a music player, picture viewer, Netflix and a web browser. And the 3DS has some of these features too, or soon will.
Nintendo's online structure has ALWAYS sucked, the 3DS's shop is no different, neither is DSiWare and Wii's shops. I personally have no faith that the Wii Us online will be anything near remotely on par with PSN, Live or Steam. Being flexible most likely means third parties are on their own. They said the Wii's online system will be flexible and that just meant Nintendo isn't going to do anything to help anyone.
Social and multimedia options on $250+ devices are more important than you think to people.
@Yogsoggoth I don't think they lost "core" players when the Wii U specs were RUMORED. I agree that they lost a lot of "core" players with the Wii though, not with the specs but with the stupidity of Nintendo's actions, such as focusing on casual games that border on shovelware and pushing fans almost completely to the side.
"core" players are naive and play only on the beast systems. They play where there is great software and they are treated well. And that wasn't the Nintendo Wii. The 3DS isn't doing much better with that either, course it's not doing much of anything right now.
Operation Rainfall has hit Japanese news sites. So Iwata is most likely aware of the issue, but cares more about money, so they let Reggie do what he wants.
Reggie also talks about the core gamers, and claims himself to be a core gamer, though he's most likely lieing about that. Reggie doesn't seem like a gamer to me.

Re: Nintendo Download: 17th November 2011 (North America)
I'm getting $6.99.
I also watched the video of the game and the 3D effect is pathetic. I was hoping it would be cool like the Urban Champions effect.
Re: Nintendo Download: 17th November 2011 (North America)
What? A 3D classic that's actually GASP a classic!?
Re: Nintendo Promises 3DS DLC for Next Year's Titles
You won't see DLC in any of this years games cause more then likely none of them are programmed to have DLC.
This is what happens when you add features AFTER the system is released.
Re: Review: Pokémon Rumble Blast (3DS)
Nintendo's track records for good games on the 3DS has sucked.
TWO good games, and should we even count them since they are old 64 games? lol

Yeah....Gotta say a big what's the point.

Re: Here's How Super Mario 3D Land's Gyroscope Controls Work
Nothing special, but I like it. They're clearly aware of the limitations of 3D and Gyro at the same time.
Re: Balance Board Goes Black in UK and Ireland on 7th October
@armoredghor Surprise, I'm making a pun at Nintendo on..a Nintendo site. GASP!
If this were a Square-Enix site, I could probably say the same thing, which I can actually.
Re: Balance Board Goes Black in UK and Ireland on 7th October
Nintendo milking something? NEVER!
Re: Nintendo Download: 22nd September 2011 (North America)
yawn
Old reliable Nintendo.
Re: Animal Crossing 3DS Looks Suitably Relaxing
I'll pass. SOME people like playing a game that's basically been the same game for over a decade, but I prefer for games to evolve and improve.
Re: Site News: Nintendo Life's eShop Appearance
They should do this more often.
Better yet, they should help sites like yours make ad supported apps for the actual system and put it on the e-shop for free.
Re: Nintendo Download: 8th September 2011 (North America)
Oh Nintendo. You never fail to disappoint on the digital front.
Re: Dragon Quest X Requires Online Connection
LOL people think a small fee a month (it won't be 15/month, you're deluding yourself with nerd rage) will run DQX into the ground.
Re: Nintendo Download: 1st September 2011 (North America)
Can't wait till we actually see 3D digital games being made for the 3Ds.
One game and the system has been out for 6 months. /clap

Re: Let's Create! Pottery on DSiWare This Week
@22 Every IOS port for DSi/3DS has been grossly overpriced. This is what happens when Nintendo gets the final say on price.
This is Nintendo not devaluing games, by overpricing the mediocre.

I'm sure Nintendo of America's official statement after people ask them about the game making the charts in EU will be this.
"Derp a derr a deerrrr! Never say never though! Derrrrr. You're awesome fans! Keep buying our stuff for no real reason."
Re: 3DS Price Cut Helps Machine to Huge Sales Hike in Japan
Now to fix the software issue and horrible digital store.

Re: Capcom Talks Street Fighter X Tekken, SSFIV3D:AE on 3DS
They can't use the DLC system cause the 3DS SF was never programed to have DLC. It would have to be a whole new game.
And I laugh how most of you, being most likely Nintendo fans, are yelling at Capcom for milking it's IPs.
Re: Here's Nintendo's Most Up to Date Release Schedule

Re: GameCube to See New Downloadable Life on Wii U
If true we can expect only a handful of games on WiiWare over the course of a year and a half.
And judging from the pricing (GB=3-5, NES=5, SNES=8, 64=10) I will predict that cube games will be $15-20.
Re: Capcom Could Show Wii U Creations at Tokyo Games Show
I imagine Nintendo at this point is begging Capcom for a Monster Hunter launch game for the Wii U to cement the systems success in Japan.
