Still got my Shadow Dragon DS cart, so not gonna get this. Still holding out for them to rerelease Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn... These two still go for crazy money second hand but I'm dying to try them eventually
One of the best games I own on Wii u, bought the soundtrack too cause the music is just fantastic. While I'm looking forward to the sequel I'd rather he takes as long as he needs to complete it properly. Either way it'll be a day 1 buy for me
I don't think it's bad that Wii u games are getting ported. I already have all the major Wii u titles anyway, but I'm glad other people are getting the opportunity to play them. It doesn't really impact me anyway - the switch has got such a huge library as it is that nobody really has any right to complain about having nothing to play. ...what I DO take issue with though is the fact that these games are invariably released at full retail price, regardless of the similarity. Some games like hyrule warriors come with all the dlc, so the switch version is actually cheaper than the all the wii u dlc packs combined. Some would argue it should still be cheaper but...eh. Other games like DK: tropical freeze had no dlc, and just got a new easy mode, which really doesn't justify a full price tag. Pikmin 3 is a great game, I personally got like half the dlc free via my nintendo so not interested in double dipping. But for anyone who doesn't have it, great! this probably is actually cheaper than buying the wii u game with all the dlc, and it wouldn't surprise me if it drops in price over time anyway.
An update on My Nintendo says: "A website issue is currently affecting some users of My Nintendo Store, and we are working to fix this issue. If you have claimed a reward code for a Animal Crossing: New Horizons Reusable Bag and wish to redeem it, please continue to check My Nintendo Store as we anticipate the issue to be resolved shortly. Stock of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Reusable Bag will be available to all those who have claimed a reward code and redeem it prior to its expiry. "
Knowing Nintendo, my main concern with going all digital would be that they wouldn't provide an adequate amount of internal storage (which is the case on both Wii u and Switch, obviously). And if they're going to require you to buy external storage cards anyway, is that really any different from still using physcial media? There's also the obvious issue of eshops closing eventually. I think systems like PC or mobile, where you can still access the same stores but older devices won't always be fully supported, lend themselves better to a digital-only ecosystem.
Had my switch for a year and a half and they suddenly started drifting badly about a week ago. A friend has had theirs less than a fortnight and got drift, another friend has had 4 joycon drift, between him and his partner. It's definitely a major issue and it's astonishing that they've not released an improved model of joycon that resolves this.
I actually enjoyed bravely second more than the first game, and the main reason for that is that there was no padding the story... Very nearly didn't finish the first game because of how it basically repeated the second half of the game over and over
Didn't realise he did this for ultimate too! I remember always looking forward to the pic of the day on miiverse for Smash Bros 4, it made life a little more fun and I was sad when they stopped. Glad they help bring his teams together too!
Basically grew up on Trek games... had both Tactical Assault and Conquest on DS/Wii, still go back to both occasionally. Had a truckload on PC as well... Klingon Honour Guard, Armada 1/2, Elite Force 1/2, BotF, Legacy... been crying out for a new Trek game for years tbh
redundant as it may be, were there any discounts planned for 3DS? I'm still missing some of the ace attorney games and regret not snagging them in the previous sale
Gave it a few tries, as a free game it's competent I guess, but it lags occasionally on my phone which is very off-putting, and the controls lack anywhere near the level of finesse you get in traditional Mario kart titles. If anything it makes me either want to dig out my old copy of kart 7, or finally get round to buying kart 8 deluxe
@matdub yeah I know, I'm just wondering if it's worth the price hike though. I think it probably is worth if it pops up in a sale, I'm not that fussed about the physical models tbh
I've been tempted to buy the digital version on sale given that apparently it includes some things that you don't get in the physical version, is it worth the extra stuff or is the physical version more than enough?
If balance is the issue, why not just limit competitive play to use pokemon naturally obtainable in the game, but still make it possible to transfer other pokemon and use them in non-competitive. Not everyone cares about the competitive scene, some just want to have battles against friends using their favourite Pokémon, in which situations it's sometimes fun having a slightly overpowered Pokémon. And besides, they're clearly reusing the same Pokémon models that they've been using since 6th gen, can't imagine it'd be that hard to just continue reusing them
@Heavyarms55 apparently they majority owned Riot in 2011, and fully acquired it in 2015. Wikipedia suggests this was made because riot didn't want to make a mobile version of LoL
If they release a cheaper version with a handheld focus, I reckon it'd be released around the same time as Pokémon Sword and Shield, like the 2DS was with X and Y. It'd be a strong competitor for the Christmas period
I literally just finished Trials and Tribulations on the 3DS last week! Definitely my favourite of the trilogy I think, but don't think I'll be picking this up. Might pick up Apollog Justice, Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice on 3DS instead though
Default was great although being bogged down by being a mind numbing grindfest in the second half. Bravely Second improved on it in nearly every way... Can't wait to see what they do with this new game!
I used to buy the Official Nintendo Magazine every month while I was at high schoo, still have all of my old issues and quite a few of their posters are still on my wall. Only stopped buying it when I felt the quailty of the writing dipped after a lot of the staff changed, and the price susequently going up was the final nail in the coffin.
As much as I still loved it while it lasted, ultimately there's very little point paying for month old information that you can get online far easier
I've been playing the Wii u version recently (having had it on my shelf for about 2 years now) and gotta say it's been great fun playing with my brother. Would people say that the dlc is worth getting?
Have they said that you'll need to pay manually each time, like Pokémon bank, or will there be an option to automatically renew? Losing cloud backups isn't really an issue as long as the local saves are still fine ofc, but having an auto-renew option would remove the hassle of having to back everything up all over again
I feel like Civ is one of those games that's really made to be played best with a keyboard and mouse, definitely one I'm interested though. Will be interested in seeing more, pumped hundreds of hours into Civ 2 so would love to give thisa chance
Decent start, okish middle, good finish. The majority of first party games revealed seemed to be ports, excited for animal crossing and Luigi's mansion 3 except we didn't actually see anything for either. Yoshi looked interesting though, and glad Isabelle is in smash. Switch online looks totally lackluster and offers no real incentive to those that have bought NES games 20 times since the Wii
They're useful as a gauge of quality, if I see a game I was unsure about getting, but it consistently scores high, I'll probably get it. If a game didn't score as high as I expect, I'll look further into the review to see what's wrong with it, and then make my decision. I almost always skip to the final score before reading the review, it's nice having the TLDR
Oh come on, this is hardly a 'new play experience', that kind of line got stale fast with the Wii 10 years ago, and ultimately led to the console being notorious for shoehorning waggle controls into EVERYTHING. There's nothing wrong with having them of course, but if you force people into using a control method that they don't want to use, it's surely only going to put them off in the long run.
Given that almost all major 3ds titles over the last year or two have been remakes/ports/remasters, I imagine that most new stuff will be the same. More GameCube ports maybe?

I've spent the point to get the code but I'm not seeing any option to add it to the basket. Can't tell if it's out of stock or the webite is just bad
