theultimateabsol is talking about another kind of ending which involves a member from Gunvolt's team and a member from Copen's team talking to each other on how the plan worked out and possible tease for another sequel.

Re: Review: Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 (3DS eShop)

No mention of Runners Mode which supports online leaderboards? That unlockable mode is equivalent to Speed run mode in Gunvolt 1 PC Steam version but instead of being a full game run, it is more focused on individual levels. Players can aim for a very high score or a very fast time by following certain rulesets.

Because of that mode, Gunvolt 2 has more value over the 3DS version of Gunvolt 1.
The ice level can be challenging to non-Mega Man players but there's anti-ice cooling devices which makes the level easier.
I do agree that the Flashfield's secondary use for stage obstacles in general were toned down.
No magnetism, no light switches.
In fact Teseo's red/blue platforms segment is the only new obstacle element that I can remember so well.

Another big change is wall jumping, it's now possible to retain dash speeds after performing a wall jump.

@Emperor-Palpsy
Spoiler alert, run was done in real time, not tool assisted.
I watched him live in person at AGDQ 2016, winning the Super Mario Bros race.

@Shigmin
4:57.02 is a timer that had to be stopped manually. It was there for stream monsters to get an idea whether or not he was ahead or behind his Personal Best.

4:56.878 as the title says is basically after watching the run through a program like Virtualdub and count the number of frames, showing a more accurate time.

http://inticreates.com/gibril-asroc-gv2-updates/#more-2036

"Also, in regards to the Japanese Voice Mode for Azure Striker Gunvolt 1 on the 3DS, we are sorry that it is taking as long as it has to give you any concrete information. At this point, we can tell you that the Japanese Voice Mode will definitely be included in the Striker Pack for sure. Just like the Steam version, it will have all of the voices back in place and the new translation to go along with said voices. As for any sort of patch/update to the digital version of GV1, as soon as we have something for you, we will not hesitate to announce it."

SNES Dragon Ball Z: Super Butōden 2.
It's not a traditional SNES VC file for 3DS as it doesn't show the SNES console model in the home menu.
More like M2's Sega 3D Classic series where it shows the arcade machine & game or the Mega Drive's title screen.

Re: Review: Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 (Wii U eShop / GBA)

Greenalink

A small typo:
Only 12 were released in the US as Classic W2-2 was exclusive to Japan.

Nearly all of the regular SMB3 levels have minor tweaks ranging from enemy changes to additional blocks to reduce difficulty.

Some of the speedrun related zips have been fixed by freezing the camera which kills Mario/Luigi if they go too far off to the right.

If only Nintendo/M2 did a bit more work by implementing e-switches to tweak gameplay mechanics by going to the in-game menu and turn on/off features including:
Shorter P-dash meter,
SMB2 Veggies,
Fireball kill = a coin
Otherwise, this is one of the better GBA ports when it comes to new content.

Re: Video: See the GameCube HDMI Mod Thrash Cheaper HDMI Converters in Video & Audio Quality

Greenalink

@chess227
Not exactly.
It supports digital audio output,
scanlines,
detailed information of the game's native resolution by holding L+R+X+Y.

You are not required to use Nintendo A/V cables for sound and it automatically linedoubles 240p content to the point that it's possible to setup Gameboy Player/Interface (homebrew) in 240p and use A/V cables for CRT and HDMI cables for Capture Card to record/stream or simply a LCD Monitor to prove there's no input lag.

Re: Video: Check Out Super Smash Bros. Melee Running Through a GameCube HDMI Mod

Greenalink

I have been using this HDMI Gamecube mod for nearly a month now and there's a few advantages over official Gamecube Component:

  • HDMI supports digital sound output and only needs 1 cable to output both Audio and Video at 480p
  • GC Component requires audio from the Nintendo AV cable using up both video slots, 5 cables, analog audio.
  • The biggest selling point is for physical Gameboy purists ranging from B&W to GBA as you can use Gameboy Interface - Ultra Low Latency homebrew and run 240p from SD cables or 480p from HDMI. In fact I could use RGB Scart (SD cable) on my CRT TV and use my HDMI cable on a HDMI capture card at the same time, best of both worlds.

Re: Video: Check Out Super Smash Bros. Melee Running Through a GameCube HDMI Mod

Greenalink

@meppi
Framemestier adds 1.5ms of lag and using:
Composite, S-video, RGB at 480i native resolution to upscale is bad due to interlace combing effect.
Component is really pricey unless you use the Wii system which sells cheap component cables.
To get the best out of the GC, you need Swiss to Force 480p on PAL games, looks gorgeous and no lag..

@Thomas Whitehead
Is that the PAL version at 480i?
It uses the linedoubler effect which tries to deinterlace but it doesn't look as good as native 480p.

Re: The NES Joins The High Definition Era With This Awesome HDMI Mod

Greenalink

As a Framemeister user, it does have one or two advantages over HDMI-NES.
1) the x4, x5 options tends to be more accurate
2) My console can still use CRT TVs ranging from Composite to RGB while the HDMI model is restricted to HDMI.

Still pretty cool to have if your only console is the NES/Famicom and you have no CRT TVs.

Re: Fullblox Is Available To Download On The European 3DS eShop Right Now

Greenalink

There were rumours yesterday that the framerate varies based on the system but I can confirm that is actually true.
Old 3DS models (regular, XL and 2DS) runs at 30 frames
New 3DS models runs at 60 frames.

This is really unusual because the previous two entries were 60 frames when played on Old 3DS models and this series isn't the most graphically demanding...

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Speedrun World Record Holder Improves His Time

Greenalink

The route in this run is actually pretty new compared to 18:07, the biggest difference is using an old glitch that had some use recently called Get Item Manipulation (GIM for short) where you trick the game by first picking Deku Nuts right after exiting a crawl space, this activates a glitch called Walking While Talking (WWT).

When this glitch is activated and you stand in front of a chest, you don't need to open it, a certain memory value will be changed depending on the content in the chest. Then when you cancel the glitch, by jumping into water, you'll obtain certain item/s based on the value of the chest. This trick gives the runner a blue potion.

The only downside this route has it that it is extremely luck based at one part of the run as the chance to get Deku Nuts is 20%.

Re: Poll: Should Nintendo Patch The Controversial Fire Hopping Technique In Mario Kart 8?

Greenalink

I find it hilarious how the casuals cry over a feature called tech. It makes the game more interesting shows more of what you can do, it pushes time down even more. It even gives the player in first place using the technique LESS of an excuse for losing a race due to bad item RNG.

Another popular Nintendo racing game you may have heard of is called: F-Zero GX. That game has a few OP techniques that makes 8's Fire Hopping look like nothing.

Anyway, F-Zero GX time trials is separated into 3 categories:

  • Space Flying Glitch
  • Snaking (100% Acceleration)
  • 100% Max speed (basically no snaking).
    The third category has the most competition but it still use a lot of tech from Momentum Turbo Slide (MTS for short), Momentum Throttling Boosting and even Shift Boosting - see video link below
    (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPDDrniSLw0)

Keep it in. It's a legit speed run trick. All you got to do is to press the jump button a few more times after a mini turbo that leads to straights/uphills, no where near as exhausting as DS snaking.

Re: Weirdness: Super Mario Bros. 3 Can Be Beaten in Under Three Minutes

Greenalink

@grimbldoo
The run is different enough to warrant a new category called Game End Early glitch.

Before the discovery of the bug, there's 3 main speed run categories including:
Warps - Using the 2 warp whistles to skip most of the game, clear W8-Bowser's Castle
Warpless - Complete W8-Bowser's Castle as quick as possible without using warp whistles .
100% - Clear every single main stage (not counting Hammer Bro encounters).

Those 3 runs all have a traditional end (to defeat Bowser), this run doesn't.

Re: Weirdness: Super Mario Bros. 3 Can Be Beaten in Under Three Minutes

@Erixsan & @Yosher
I know a few who can do it on actual console, real time including Producks and Duckfist. Unfortunately it's very hard to achieve.
http://www.twitch.tv/producks/c/4007669

(To everyone)
The second video is basically this:

"This run is played back on an unmodified NES console.
The only inputs to the console are the controller inputs.
Input provided to console by true's NES/SNES replay device."

Re: Awesome Games Done Quick 2014 Raises Over One Million Dollars for Charity

Greenalink

"Once some official videos are released on YouTube we'll upload a selection;"

Those official MP4 videos that will be downloadable on archive.org will take a couple of months, AGDQ 2013 encodes started in January and all games were done in March/April time . UraniumAnchor usually encodes the 160+ hour marathon supporting full framerate on the gameplay and 2 audio tracks (or 1 for PC/DS games). Right now the runs can be watched on Twitch VODs or reuploads on Youtube.

Re: Guide: How To Capture Video And Screenshots From Your 3DS

Greenalink

Got one of these for a year and even used it for the speed running marathon : Awesome Games Done Quick 2013.

You should note that the Capture Add-on for the regular 3DS has a small sacrifice... you can't use the Circle Pad Pro (CPP), unless someone out there is good enough to make a custom CPP case.

Getting a shiny easily is only possible if you know both the Trainer's ID and the Secret ID. Getting 31 IVs (or a few 30s for a certain Hidden Power type) and nature isn't that hard to achieve on Black/White.

RNG Egg Breeding IVs (Shiny Deino timid with 31 IVs and knows Dark Pulse)

Getting a Flawless Genesect, Hasty with 31 IVs on White 2 - only took 2 attempts.
