My post was much more thoughtful and constructive than "I had sushi there once."
But you're right, we don't need politics introduced here, so I'll amend my comment.
Sadly, Seattle is a wasteland of homeless people, heroin addicts, crime, human waste and rampant disease. It is unfortunate that the city and state leaders there have caused the degradation of what once was such a beautiful city, it was called "The jewel of the Northwest."
No political parties/philosophies mentioned, so no lives shattered, right?
@WoomyNNYes Sadly, Seattle is a wasteland of homeless people, heroin addicts, crime, human waste and rampant disease. Unfortunately, that tends to be the predictable outcome for cities that suffer decades of liberal political control.
Love Flashback, and quite liked its stylish sequel Fade to Black (despite its difficult controls and awkward camera). I am buying this for sure, but wish they would have numbered it properly as Flashback 3.
I really miss them. You are spot on with your comments about the glory of anticipation, reading through the manual on the car ride home and such. There is a home video of me and my two brothers visiting the easter bunny in the mall in like 1990 or something. In it you can see my brothers smiling and interacting with good old Peter Cottontail, but if you look past them you see me, off to the side, opening a copy of Gauntlet for the NES that we had just purchased in the mall, and reverently leafing through each page of the instruction manual with a look of rapture on my face, because I COULD NOT WAIT to get home before experiencing it.
Even years later, at 18, I remember hitting up the mall with family as I visited them on leave from the Air Force. I picked up Quest 64 and even though I was afraid of warping or creasing the manual, I just had to read through it on the car ride home.
The fact that those memories are still vivid 20 or 30 years later just goes to show how important the manual was to the experience of buying a new game.
In those days you knew that a Nintendo game was a premium purchase, a cut above the rest and a big part of that feeling were the thick, glossy, full color manuals when the second rate developers only gave you chintzy 5 page black and white leaflets. When you bought Nintendo, you were buying the BMW or Audi of the gaming world.
Even to this day, there is a little, helpless moment of disappointment when I open a new game only to be greeted by empty space or a single two sided instruction sheet.
After Lucasfilm's treatment of Gina Carano, and their blatant hatred of free thinking people everywhere, they will never get another penny from me. There was a time I would have been excited about this. No more.
Love all Konami. Bring it all! Metal Gear, Suikoden, Silent Hill, Castlevania. Bring the Hudson Soft stuff too! Hudson was legendary. If they bring it, I will buy it!
I have waited so long for this. This was my first SaGa game, and the title that made me fall in love with the franchise. Amazing freedom of exploration and character progression, fun battle and magic systems, phenomenal soundtrack by Kenji Ito, cool story with intertwining character arcs, a rich world brought to life through inspired art design... I love this game. It is a fresh, revitalizing breeze in a world of stagnant, cookie cutter RPG's.
@Slowdive Yes, the soundtrack by Ito is absolutely incredible. The music that plays when you journey by ship between different regions still brings chills.
But sometimes, we do know what we want. Wind Waker ended up being a great game with a living, breathing world that was a joy to experience (except sailing) and I love it (even though Link and Celda are ugly as hell), but at that time I would rather have had that gritty Space World Zelda. The disappointment with the game didn't stem from a cartoony looking Zelda. Most fans, (including myself) would have embraced that. It was the rug that was pulled out from under us by showcasing badass, dark Zelda only to reveal light, airy football head Zelda. That 'subversion of expectations' was a sucker punch alot of fans had trouble letting go of.
1) Final Fantasy 6 Remake (With FF7 Remake graphics) 2) Eternal Darkness 2 3) Beyond Good & Evil 2 4) Metroid Prime 4 5) New Monkey Island 6) New Prince of Persia 7) New Gauntlet 8) New F-Zero 9) New Kid Icarus 10) New King's Quest
Wow! Everything I want is a remake or sequel. I've seen a lot of good in my time... and I want more!
It warms my heart to see so many requests for classic dormant franchises requested. My two requests:
1) Get back into hardware design and manufacture. We need a new Sega console!
2) Take advantage of their vast IP library. Bring us Shining, Golden Axe, Phantasy Star, Panzer Dragoon etc. Join up with the original developers or competent dev teams if necessary, but make it happen!
@Rambler I absolutely loved all these series as a kid! Sorcery, Lone Wolf, Grail Quest, even the D&D Endless Quest series! I have a pretty good collection going, but these are hard to find in the states.
There is a videogame based on the Lone Wolf books and I believe it is available for Switch. In fact, I believe today is the day I buy it. This article has reminded me of my love for these properties.
I LOVE the SaGa franchise. SaGa Frontier is my favorite of the entire series. I adored this game upon its initial release on PS1 back in the 90's. Been waiting and hoping along time to see its return. Buying immediately. A physical version would be a dream.

Sorry, but any top 50 list of NES games that leaves out Faxanadu is critically flawed.
Faxanadu needs to be on this list.
