@kingbk The problem is, you can't "continue the Switch aspect" AND "prevent the only on Xbox or Playstation phenomenon". You can only have one or the other. There is no way a system that needs to be fully functional in a portable mode is going to compete in graphics or processing power with the behemoth PS5 or Series X. As long as that disparity exists between Nintendo's console and their competitors, developers will be forced into choosing to make a product designed for two platforms fairly comparable in terms of capability, or for a single platform that is less capable. We've seen this conundrum in some fashion since all the way back to the N64, although power and graphics capability have only been the issue since around the Wii era. Personally, I would rather have them make a cutting edge system capable of rivaling Sony or Microsoft offerings and rely on the strength of their IP to set them apart. But since the last system that was close to this, the GameCube was considered a disappointment, with 22 million systems sold, they will likely never take this approach again. (Although that had more to do with proprietary discs and no built in DVD player than anything else.) I agree about a more robust online system though. We need a persistent eco system akin to PS Plus or Xbox Live, and please finally introduce a trophy system!
@jamesthemagi I'm not sure I understand, but if you are referencing my comment about hoping for a big budget FF6 remake, then yes, I'd like it to be on the same level as 7R, only with a better soundtrack. I know Hamauzu, the composer of 7R, (and 13) has his fans, but Final Fantasy just isn't the same without Uematsu on soundtrack duty. It might sound bombastic and epic now, but it has lost that special combination of wonder, mystery, grandeur, charm and loneliness that used to give the series its distinct feel. It hasn't been the same since he left.
@Magician That's true, and it was a great premium edition remaster. I'm thrilled Square has shown some real love for SaGa over the past few years. But, I would still love a thorough remake of the game bringing the graphics into the modern era. Keep the colorful, creative, art style though!
@Ralizah I would enjoy this and definitely buy it, but I would rather they give 6 the remake it truly deserves and lavish it with the premium budget, graphics and attention they are giving to 7. They must contract Uematsu to score it though. The music in 7 Remake was not good. They had a treasure trove of some of the best video game music ever written at their disposal and threw it out in favor of generic western action blockbuster themes, and corny jazzy elevator music. Wasted potential.
@invictus4000 That's amazing about your daughter's name! Excellent job! (Hopefully her appetite doesn't match Lina's, or else grocery shopping is gonna be EXPENSIVE!)
You are right about anime today, so many clones of each other in both style and content. I'm happy we were there to witness it's emergence in western popularity.
@invictus4000 I was there in that anime scene in the late 90's too. All my favorite anime is from that era: Escaflowne, Slayers, Magic Knight Rayearth, Trigun, Neon Genesis, Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, Macross Plus, Lodoss, Vampire Hunter D etc. Great times!
@TheFox So many great games on 3DO! Alone in the Dark 1 & 2, Bust-A-Move, D, Escape from Monster Manor, Gex, Guardian War, Crash N' Burn, Dragon's Lair, Myst, Shockwave, Starblade, best version of Road Rash, first ever Need for Speed, Total Eclipse, Killing Time, Myst, Wing Commander 3 (incredible to see that on a console at the time), Samurai Showdown, Super Street Fighter 2, Wolfenstein, Star Wars: Rebel Assault, Return Fire, Lucienne's Quest, Lost Eden, Flashback, Out of this World. The system was straight fire!
@TheFox Bubsy isn't in the same league as Gex. Bubsy can wallow in the mire with Trevor McFur and Kao the Kangaroo. Gex is up there closer to Spyro territory.
@Axelay71 Alot of us old 3DO gamers on here! I loved that system. So far ahead of it's time. I wish the 3DO M2 would have made it to market. It would have been my primary "next gen" system at the time.
@Greatluigi The first Gex was one of the best 2D platformers of it's era. First on 3DO, then on Playstation. The 3D ones that came later on PSX and N64 were excellent fun! This is excellent news!
"See you in the comments" indeed! As a genuine (and looongtime) fan of adventure games, I loved LucasArts and Sierra both, but Sierra will always be nearest to my heart. The release of every new installment of King's Quest was a major event in our household. Premium games with state of the art graphics and sound (for the time) that somehow delivered a whimsical warmth and sense of discovery and adventure. Monkey Island was special and had a huge impact on me, but King's Quest 6 is possibly my favorite game of all time (tied with Faxanadu) and my take for greatest adventure game.
So very happy to see the legacy of point and click adventures continue on to modern consoles. Beneath, was a great iconic game from the peak of the point and click era. Now let's get new King's Quest, Monkey Island, Kyrandia, Gabriel Knight and Quest for Glory games please!
@RogueSpyke You're right. Hate speech should not be tolerated. Now please explain how the guy who said he was going to buy the Japanese version was engaging in "hate speech". His comment was pretty innocent.
@CharlieGirl Incorrect. That war you're referring to was fought to end abuse of a minority group and ensure they were afforded all the rights inherent to human beings as endowed by God their creator, chief among them individual liberty and sovereignty. It was not fought to prohibit people from having different opinions on the matter or from sharing them in a public space. That's called free speech. We fight wars to protect rights and ensure they are extended to all, not strip them from people we don't agree with.
@ItsJustAnotherGamer No problem at all. Nobody can pile on you for having your opinion, I won't stand by and watch while everyone piles on someone else for having theirs.
@Dm9982 I LOVE that they remade Actraiser. The soundtrack alone is worth the price of the game! My controversial take is that I wish they would also redo part 2 as I think it's a beautiful and underappreciated sidescrolling hack n' slash action game.
@Arkay Nice! The end credits message! Although I owned Perfect Dark on my N64 I never beat it. I finally did, on my Series X this morning and can check a lifelong goal off my list. I am Nintendo and Xbox this generation and really can't wait to get the new Perfect Dark when it comes out!
One of my favorite RPG's all time. Beautiful art direction, incredible soundtrack by Motoi Sakuraba, creative story. More Baten Kaitos would be a dream come true. One that I've never dared hope could be possible.

1) Chrono sequel/remake
2) Xenogears remake
3) Vagrant Story sequel/remake
4) FF6 remake (With graphics engine from the FF7 engine. Must bring Uematsu back to score!)
5) FF Tactics sequel/remake
6) Dew Prism/Threads of Fate sequel/remake
7) SaGa Frontier remake
For crying out loud bring back Bahamut Lagoon, Illusion of Gaia or Treasure Hunter G for all I care, but bring back/carry forward the classics!
