The launch of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is inching closer, with the hefty expansion releasing on June 30th, 2022.
Capcom is looking to ramp up the hype train for the release with a brand new digital event taking place on May 10th at 7:00 PDT / 15:00 BST, with game director Yoshitake Suzuki taking the stage to present.
The digital event promises a new look at gameplay features and monsters for the game. Capcom's previous event for the expansion in March revealed a new Amiibo, the game's release date, and its file size (a chunky 13GB).
Let us know in the comments if you plan on tuning into the new digital event in May!

I’m in…..let’s hope it’s worthy
Bring the noise!
With how much they're hyping this, it almost feels like an entirely new game rather than just an expansion to Rise. Very cool.
Only thing coming to Nintendo platforms this year that im excited for.
I didn't realize this was a $40 expansion until earlier today. I'm playing the base game now and having a good time, but I'm not sure I want to spend that much on DLC unless it close to doubles the number of unique monsters. I fell off Generations Ultimate part way through, so maybe I'll just go back to that and wait for a sale.
Bring back Jhen Mohran
@Anachronism
Generations is always worth coming back to. Greatest game in the series. So much to do.
I'm pretty partial to 3 Ultimate on the Wii U since it was my first one. I think I might be the only person who misses the underwater sections.
@Anachronism
the expansions tend to nearly double the content from the base game and are usually very much worth the money
What time is this Digital Event for est?
@steizgr8 I might just be too used to the Ultimate editions we used to get. I can't justifiably complain that Rise is light on content, but it is a maybe 100 hour game compared to the others being 300+ hour games. Even if the DLC doubles the play time, it feels weird that the game will have less content than the 3DS ones that were $40 total.
@Anachronism
That's fair, though the new games do bring some jumps forward in gameplay and graphics, they'll never compare content wise to Generations Ultimate.
Hopefully Capcom have a beefy endgame loop built in to Sunbreak
@Anachronism This is my major complaint about the game. Sure we have new gameplay that is a huge leap from previous games, but the lack of content I don't understand. Maybe like you said, got used to buying generations/ultimate versions where the content was huge, but the lack of G rank (best part of the game) I still don't understand. That always made comeback for more.
@JeanPaul That is what Sunbreak is, the G Rank expansion to Rise. Just as Iceborne was the G Rank expansion to World, and the "Ultimate" versions were to the older games (IE MH3, to MH3U where 3 was high rank, and Ultimate added G Rank). This is the way Monster Hunter has gone for generations of the games. The initial release is up to High rank, and the follow up brought in the G rank (or Master rank as its now called since World). It has always added a massive amount of content to the games, and I cannot wait for Sunbreak to drop. Already had it pre-ordered since it was first available.
Also, Generations Ultimate will always be one of my favorite games of all time. Just started yet another new character for a new playthrough of the game with a different weapon from start. The game is simply divine!
I'll admit I was wrong. I predicted we'll be far into like the 3rd or 4th digital event for this expansion by now. For Rise and especially Stories 2 they did so many.
@Highlar You're right, forgot that detail, that Ultimate versions were the update in previous games. So technically we'll be getting the Ultimate update with Sunbreak, that's awesome. Definitely looking forward to Sunbreak, MH is one of those franchises that I just can't stop playing, I have lots of fun!
Now that you mentioned it, I think I'll take a quick dive to Generations, it's been a while since I've played and it's one of the best games they've made.
e3 is coming early, ladies and gentlemen!
And I'm all about it. Been waiting what feels like forever for Sunbreak
@Anachronism
My first experience was Tri and I quickly switched to 3 Ultimate, when that was released. I also liked the underwater segments.
Dire Miralis was my first encounter with one of the Black Dragons. That was partially underwater and a fun fight. I especially miss that one.
@Aneira Dire Miralis and Ceadeus were definitely the most epic fights, which makes sense since they're basically the coop/solo final bosses. My favorites to repeat were probably Lagiacrus and Zinogre, and I really liked the Brachydios equipment set. I guess I'm lucky all three of them got brought back at least once, though obviously the Lagiacrus fight was pretty different.
