Re: Europe Now Receiving Club Nintendo Stars For All eShop Downloads

FredTheCat

Mushroom kingdom figure is a good one to get, plus it comes in a neat coin block box.
Game & watch ball is a boring game but great as a collectors item. The new notebooks arent bad- just received one of two i've ordered.
I bought a connector to use SNES controller with my Wii but found I didn't then use it.

Re: Luigi's Mansion 2 Still Scaring the UK Top 10

FredTheCat

Nintendo is advertising Luigi's Mansion on TV, yet I've not seen a single Lego advert. If they won't promote the game then it won't get the high sales it deserves (although it did make 'Game of the Week' on that Challenge TV games programme this week).

Re: Sega Adds Disclaimer to Aliens: Colonial Marines Trailers

FredTheCat

Although Gearbox should take alot of blame for this shambles, Sega as publisher should have had better controls over a developer. They should also have not published the game on any format when it was clearly sub-standard, the fact they did publish on 360/3 shows that they care nothing about quality control and everything about quick profit.

As for their disclaimer, they may aswell put "these are the graphics which we could have given the game, but we couldnt be bothered"

Re: SEGA Still Not Talking About Aliens: Colonial Marines On Wii U

FredTheCat

I cannot understand why, if the game is finished, Sega don't just say so. They can always release the game on eshop download only, thus avoiding the costs in publishing & distribution. If tiny developers such as Tomorrow Corporation can publish on eshop (and make money) then it cannot cost much.

At least then we can get a copy of the game and see how stinky (or not) it is!

Re: Monster Hunter And Price Cut Trigger Wii U Sales Spike In UK

FredTheCat

@LuigiMan200
You can get insurance for any console - and getting it separately is usually much cheaper than store ripoff insurance. Just Google 'console insurance' (or something similar). Just looking for a minute I found accidental damge for £3.99 per month - you might get it even cheaper if you search properly.
Hope this helps!

Re: Digital Foundry - Need For Speed: Most Wanted U Delivers as Definitive Console Version

FredTheCat

I really love this game, despite being useless at racing games! I just hope the sales are a success for Criterion (they deserve it for such a great version), plus it will also mean its more likely we'll get DLC. I don't miss analogue acceleration (I tend to race full on anyway!).

This game is great whether you want to play a long session, or even if you just want to play a short game. Either way, it should be a must-buy for every WiiU owner.

Re: Talking Point: An Open Letter To Nintendo

FredTheCat

Although I love Nintendo at its best, I have to agree with most of the points in this well-worded article. Is anyone sending this up to Nintendo bigwigs?? Someone needs to make sure they realise how disappointed some of its most loyal fans are. Yeah, the 3DS was a shambles in the first year, but Nintendo should have learnt from it, not repeat it a year later. When was the last time anyone saw a TV advert? Consoles won't shift without a marketing spend.

Oh, and where is Pikmin 3 !! (and Scribblenauts!) Perhaps they are moving the development onto the WiiUMe ?

Finally, I'm angry with Royal Mail, yet again they've failed to deliver a next-day item......today my copy of Lego Undercover is MIA ......GRRRR.

Re: Review: LEGO City: Undercover (Wii U)

FredTheCat

Only 3 more days to wait for Europe! Has anyone else bought the Lego 60007 Police Chase set yet? You get codes to open a couple of vehicles & secret missions. Best of all is you get a Chase figure, police jeep & motorbike, plus a robber & sports car (and spike traps!) & price wasn't extortionate for a Lego kit. I'm a kid again!!!

Re: Gearbox: Future of Aliens: Colonial Marines in SEGA's Hands

FredTheCat

So, Randy Pitchfork says Demerge did an "amazing job".

I think Gearbox will not be trusted ever again after all the cow-mess they quoted prior to Aliens being reviewed. Although wouldn't it be ironic if the WiiU version ended up being the only decent version? (not that we are likely to see it)

Re: Wii Mini Generating Little Interest in The UK

FredTheCat

Does anyone outside Nintendo and Nintendolife users know it even exists? Nintendo needs to get its act together - along with no marketing for the Mini, I've seen no adverts for Monster Hunter, Luigi's Mansion or Lego City.

Its policy of no marketing is a major factor in current sales failures - I've seen more ads for the dreadful Aliens (plus countless other xbox & ps3 games) in the past few months than for any wiiu or 3ds.
Today i noticed Game has all but removed WiiU from its store space - they haven't even bothered getting Need for Speed in stock.

Come on Nintendo, insert a rocket and do something! Anything!!

Re: Wii U UK Price Reaches New Low As HMV Slashes Premium Bundle Cost

FredTheCat

1. WiiU sales are dire ATM and discounts are needed.

2. HMV is in administration and there has been no agreement with any company to find a buyer. Administrators have been able to secure new DVDs etc but hardware is more difficult to acquire due to suppliers requiring guarantees or payment in advance. They obviously have alot of consoles to shift - while they are in Admin then they have to sell enough to keep going each week, even if this means selling at a large loss. Most people know of HMV issues and are unwilling to spend a large purchase as warranties are sometimes problematic. Plus of course the WiiU is dead until promised games arrive. No launch of Scribblenauts or Aliens hardly makes someone decide to buy!

Re: Miyamoto Overseeing Series of Animated Shorts

FredTheCat

Pikmin 3 (originally for the Gamecube/Wii), was due to be a WiiU launch title, then delayed to launch within the 'launch window' This window ends on 31st March. I do wish Nintendo would stop messing about with Pikmin cartoons, animations for a system transfer, and just launch the game on the WiiU. We are crying out for it (especially as we are starved of games atm). Some sort of release this year (or decade) would be nice!

Re: First Impressions: LEGO City Undercover

FredTheCat

@Nintenjoe64 - 30 too old? Never. I'm another decade older and still want the Chase McCain figure!

I'm getting ever more impatient after each article, I just hope that it sells in large numbers - it deserves huge success and will hopefully help lead to an end in WiiU-bashing!

Re: UK Retailers Call For Wii U Price Cut And Fresh Approach From Nintendo

FredTheCat

All Nintendo needs to do is to bother with doing any sort of advertising & promotion for the console. I've seen endless adverts for Aliens Colonial Marines yet none for the WiiU in the last month. Nintendo seems to have become ever more arrogant in thinking people will just spend £300 on a console simply because it has the Nintendo name for it.

We keep hearing about how cash-rich Nintendo is, why is it not investing in bigger development studios to bring out more games (or buying up some great existing ones which have recently gone bankrupt). It has a massive catalogue of gaming legends but very few games (where is Metroid, proper Mario, Kirby, Yoshi, Luigi, et al??).

Lets face it, what other company would have Pikmin 3 in development since the gamecube era!!! nintendo needs a rocket placing somewhere, and quick!!

Re: Nintendo Receives Zero BAFTA Game Awards Nominations

FredTheCat

Nintendoland and Kid Icarus not included but a rehash of LittleBoringPlanet on a system no-one wants is included?

All this does it prove that Bafta should stick to TV & Film and even those choices are more than a little dodgy. Remember TOWIE received a Bafta!!

Re: Rayman Legends No Longer a Wii U Exclusive, Delayed to September

FredTheCat

Who at Ubisoft has business sense? WiiU owners are crying out for new games so would have bought Legends en masse. By September however, we'll all be too busy playing Lego Undercover, Pikmin, Zelda, Mario Kart et al to bother with Rayman. It would have made business sense to release Rayman on the WiiU now and the other platforms when ready in September(ish).

Re: Review: Picross e2 (3DS eShop)

FredTheCat

I've been pretty disappointed with both these - only having small puzzles limits any real challenge, and the Micross ones were also pretty boring (as the main article says many lf the sub-puzzles are just a line to complete).

I'd pay twice the price for a decent version 1.3 with some larger puzzles and more of them.

Re: ZombiU Producer "Disappointed" By Early Reviews

FredTheCat

It isn't a perfect game (few even come close), but many fans like myself love that a mature game has been produced. It is a survival horror filling the gap left by Resident Evil's shift towards fps blandness that US press seem to be obsessed with. We are grateful that Ubisoft and Grunier developed this game.

He just needs to do a sequel that we are all desperate to hear confirm, and hopefully give us a sequel that is even better! Personally I'd love a section being stuck in the Gherkin or the Shard (plus maybe the London Eye?, Westminster cathedral, a Parliament full of zombie MP's) ETC ETC !!
