Sega Europe has added a disclaimer to its Aliens: Colonial Marines trailers following complaints that the shown footage does not represent the final product.
The disclaimer was added after a Reddit user reported Sega to the Advertising Standards Agency. On Sega Europe's channel, the game's trailer now has the text "The trailer footage shown uses the in-game engine, and represents a work in progress" in its description.
The shooter, which has been the subject of controversy since its release, has still not been released on the Wii U and has received scathing reviews on other platforms.
Have you played Aliens: Colonial Marines on another console? Are you disappointed that the game has not lived up to expectations? Let us know in the comments section.

Forget this already.
Just cancel the Wii U version already
I think it's pouring salt to an open wound. But this wasn't made by sega, so umm.... gearbox is to blame?
I don't know why they're still bothering with it. It's obvious how poorly it did and how hardly anybody wants it.
Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.
Actually they could do the "Ex Effect" (uhh I have to patent this ^^). Take a Team, make some extra costs, remaster the failed edition and bring the Director's Cut some months later for the Wii U like Sqare Enix did with Deus Ex. Reviews have to blow the minds and BOOM the Wii U gets pushed and the version it should have been exclusive for Wii U, instead of releasing the sucking one nobody would buy after all.
lulz
@DStroke Thats what I think they will do more tbh. They need to make some money back on the game and Sega could figure a remastered version on WiiU, which they hyped as being the best version could be the way to do it.
If that is the plan at Sega I would expect WiiU version getting hyped from August time with a september/october release.
Or they may just wait for ppl to forget about it and release the WiiU version as is without any sort of fanfare.
They lost a lot of money I think cause of bad critics so the question is, are they willing to take that risk, spending extra money to make a better version (if it is possible in any way) or will they burrie the game for good by releasing the allready produced game on Wii U or not releasing it at all.
I'm still wondering why it wasn't released yet and why they make such a mystery out of it!
I say they just cancel the Wii U edition unless they were going to completely rebuild it from the ground up. Quality over quantity.
The release date at the moment is still april 12th isn't it?
If they are under attack for misrepresentation then that might actually pressure them into releasing a WiiU version in line what they advertised. I would be open to buying this if they actually fixed it but I'm not bothered by its demise.
Nuke the game from orbit, it's the only way to be sure!!
@DStroke
Remember though, if the Wii U version is an exclusive Director's Cut and it does sell well, it'll just be ported to the twins later. Nintendo tends to get screwed over like that lately.
Have any of you even played the game? It wasn't great, but it wasn't nearly as bad as everyone said it was.
Remember when Randy Pitchford said that the WiiU version was the best one? I guess he's still pretty much right huh?
The aliens are completely unplayable, and the rest of the game is extremely mediocre. Aliens VS Predator had a good control scheme in my opinion, where it didn't need 3 buttons pressed just to transition walls. :1
Disclaimer: Expectations may be higher than actual product.
Seriously though,I am never for forcing people to say things or censorship, I much rather people accept that the world is full of lies, advertisements ALWAYS looks better then the product they are selling, and to be wary and skeptical rather than gullible and demand laws force everyone to be honest.
Not saying Colonial Marines is a great game, but this is little different then when people were orgasmic over Dead Island when that cinematic trailer showed no gameplay at all, and flocked to the game which turned out to have no involvement with the trailer whatsoever other then also being on an island.
@Farmboy74
Could not have used a better quote!
@Timro
I could of used game over man game over!!!
Ah I just did!!, think its time I stopped quoting the film.
@GiftedGimp: Except after everything Gearbox did wrong, I don't think Sega would trust them with more money. Even if it did turn out well, people already lost interest. It wouldn't make even half the money back. At this point, it's better to just let it die quietly.
@DarkKirby: But that was a pre rendered cutscene. We all know those aren't really how the game will be. They claimed all of this was how the game was actually going to look and play. They flat out lied, not mislead.
"The trailer footage shown uses the in-game engine, and represents a work in progress"
Ooh those smart...people.
The whole point is that the game looks nowhere near as good as the trailers, but this implies that the game might actually look better.
@Kaeobais
My point is just that advertisements or trailers in particular, people should never trust. They are designed to make a sale, not be honest. You can use it as a reference, but don't expect it to be "as is". It is another issue altogether when publishers or developers are interviewed and they outright lie.
@Geonjaha
Touche.
Lol, it gets more painful by the second! Let we all forget this game and just move forward!
It is an awful, disappointing game. I've briefly played the Xbox 360 version at a friends house and have no wish to ever play it again, as well as having seen footage uploaded by others to Youtube showcasing some serious glitches. The Wii U userbase is still relatively small and Aliens: CM has a terrible reputation and likely won't sell very well on Wii U anyway....releasing it now is simply a waste of time and money. Best to just officially cancel it.
A lot of people think it's solid and fun, even if its not fantastic. Better than a bunch of other shooters around, it doesn't seem to be the broken mess people have been saying. I suppose it might be due to people over hyping it, thinking its going to be a 10/10 game but only got a 6/10 game.
IF Sega do eventually release an improved version no WiiU, (its still listed on sega website), to have any chance of selling it they will have to release a demo on eShop to proove to WiiU owners the game is better than what the other versions are at least a month before its release.
If they'd actually take the time and ressources to make it a killer game on the Wii U that'd be amazing.
Hey, maybe you haven't been keeping up on current events, but we just got our asses kicked, pal!
I'm disappointed that self-proclaimed fans of the film watched Aliens and thought it would be better without this Ripley character.
If it wasn't for all the deception, the game would just be dismissed as another subpar movie tie-in. Would be nice if the Wii U edition turned out to have taken major steps toward producing the hyped version but I think it's more likely that Sega will cut its losses and Gearbox has Borderlands to fall back on.
Although Gearbox should take alot of blame for this shambles, Sega as publisher should have had better controls over a developer. They should also have not published the game on any format when it was clearly sub-standard, the fact they did publish on 360/3 shows that they care nothing about quality control and everything about quick profit.
As for their disclaimer, they may aswell put "these are the graphics which we could have given the game, but we couldnt be bothered"
Le Reddit da bes websit 2 gud christen is bad Carl Sagan 4 lyfe trollfaic rage comics lololol
But seriously, just give the damn game a break, it's been out for long enough. I don't see why they need to keep worrying about it.
