@James - I had no idea you could move the icons - many many thanks for that (I'd tried but hadn't left the cursor on the icon before!). I'd been deleting DSi/3DS ware and re-downloading them just to fill up the empty spaces....I'm such a dunce!
A brilliant guide - many thanks! Sorry to see there isn't an update to the Home screen though, I have quite a few gaps now as I've deleted some videos (and I want my 10 new Ambassador games to be all together). Hopefully the ability to move icons (or at least remove gaps) will come in a future update.
It has generally been an advantage that the Wii does not have an easy patch facility. At least this means most games have been comprehensively tested, rather than the Xbox/PS3 standard which seems to be "dont bother testing we'll just fill up the users hard drive with bug fixes as the customers find them" Both this and the Metroid M are pretty obscure and won't happen to the vast majority of gamers (who will be collecting the songs in order). No amount of testing will ever be able to 100% guarantee no problems, but at least having a difficult system to patch means developers can't be lazy!
Really surprised its a 10. Shame it will be a sales flop though as its being unnoticed in the run up to Xmas and the focus on Zelda (and annual shmups on 360 & PS3).
Tesco was selling this for £25 in store yesterday, methinks I'll be heading back there later.
@ woodlin37 - for 4000 stars you can get the Golden Wii Wheel - great if you already have the Zelda gold Wiimote and the Goldeneye classic contolller. All I need now is a gold Nunchuck!
Europe is still waiting for Axelay, even though its been out in the US and Japan for over THREE YEARS !!
Konami must really hate European gamers. I did try asking them a couple of years ago where it was, but they said they couldn't comment as they never comment on commercially sensitive release schedules. How commercially sensitive of them for not releasing it and missing out on easy profit!
I've not managed to see any reviews yet, despite looking......its abit of a worry that the game is launched on Friday but still not much has been seen of it. I bet Game and Gamestation won't have any in stock (like they haven't stocked Cave Story)
Not interested in this series on Wii, although I'd be tempted to buy the game if they release a 3DS version that's anywhere near as good as RE:Mercenaries.
What really annoys me with all the Sodoku games, none of them have copied the Brain Training input method. This is still by far the best entry method.....other games are clumsy in comparison.
Game looks awesome. I love the music and hoping its as good as Xenoblade...if so then maybe Nintendo (of Europe!) will give us free downloads of the soundtrack like they did for Xenoblade.
So happy I'm not in the USA....plus we get Zelda two days early too!
It seems the majority of (non-US) people think Xenoblade should be on the Wii Top10 list. It seems unfair not to include it because NoA can't be bothered releasing it to US gamers!
Also agree that Eternal Darkness should have been mentioned (especially as I've just started replaying it after about 8 years!).
PETA undermines all the good work animal welfare charities do with their campaigns that have been dreamed up by complete and utter nutjobs. Instead of focussing on very real animal cruelties, their campaign against a cartoon character is completely laughable. They are making a mockery of the wonderful work done by proper charities, such as WWF or the RSPCA.
Maybe Mario's fur is fake, as are most 'fur' products?
A Link to the Past would look amazing re-done in 3D. I loved the way Ghost Recon looks like you're playing with soldiers in a box, I presume the Zelda will look the same! Do this ASAP please Nintendo
I've never understood why SIlicon Knights never re-released Eternal Darkness for the Wii. They could easily have done a quick 'Play Control' style makeover of the controls, and made a tidy sum from it.
It would be great if they re-did the game for the 3DS, or a new game for the WiiU (or both!)
MiracleBlaze has it spot on - just wait until the Mario games are released next month (!) and December. Then the 3DS will start flying off the shelves.
@Jettiblue - the vast majority of Nintendo DS's casual market are the sort of people who do not have smartphones and are still willing to pay £20-£30 for a decent game. By only targetting so-called hardcore people, these are the same people who have smartphones and therefore are starting to expect cheaper games. Also, I have a smartphone, and have yet to find any game which comes anywhere near a Mario game for example.
What Nintendo needs to do urgently is to release a load of the casual games which has made it so much profit. I know co-called 'hardcore' people will not want this, but they need to keep their casual gamers involved in the next generation of consoles.
Where is 3DS Brain Training, or follow-ups to Wii Sports Resort, Wii Fit, DS casual games, etc etc etc??
I'm hardly a 'young un'. I'm 42, and remember when people like me in the 80's were assumed to be spotty friendless geeks simply for liking gaming. You may hate the ads showing families and people of all ages playing games, but you have to admit it has been a commercial success for Nintendo to go for so-called 'casual' gamers.
My parents (both in their 70's) are now Nintendo DS gamers - my mother has four of them!! (Phat, Lite, a Turquoise Lite as she liked the new colour, and an XL). Those adverts, patronising to some, were a large part in them becoming gamers.....my mother is completely addicted to gaming now.
I don't see why there is a need to label people as casual/hardcore. My mother would say she's a casual player but she plays at least 3-4 hours every day!
A reminder for people. Everyone's tastes CAN be different. Just because someone has different tastes to you does not mean they are wrong, nor you are wrong. It also doesn't mean you have to try to change their opinion or be rude to others.
I also hate this obsession with 'Casual' or 'Hardcore' labelling. Why not just be a gamer?? I remember years ago most middle aged people thought all video games were evil and there were often hysterical cries to ban all games. Thanks to the so-called 'casual' market (namely by Nintendo) these 'middle-aged' people have discovered gaming can be great fun, and has led to gaming becoming mainstream rather than being thought of as for teenage boys stuck in their rooms. Lets just call everyone gamers.
I can't believe how people are now panicking about the life of an AAA battery. You can pick up 6 for £1, hardly going to break the bank is it?
As for battery life, 2 AA batteries last 20 hours plus in a Wii remote, and most of the power drain is because of the wireless/bluetooth functionality. I'd expect an AAA battery powering one analogue pad and two extra shoulder buttons to last over 50 hours minimum.
As for giving everyone a redesigned 3DS, it would cost several billion pounds/dollars to do so, enough to bankrupt Nintendo. Thats why there will be no rush to launch a 3DS 'Lite' until at least the end of 2012, or Q1 2013 (i.e. the same timescale as the DS/DS Lite).
Too many people are again throwing toys out of their prams over an attachment for Monster Hunter. Wait until next week - I bet there will NOT be any announcement about a redesigned 3DS.
All markets have reported a massive increase in sales following the price drop, no commercial company would redesign something so soon unless it was to refund 8 million 3DS owners.
Also good message by iPruch - I don't get some people's obsession that their portable games machine has to be as complex as the home console version (Sony did this with the original PSP and look how badly it did in comparison as a result.....would have been even worse if not for Monster Hunter!).
Why oh Why hasn't Axelay been released on VC in Europe? its been out in the US and Japan for over a year! Even better would be to launch it (and other SNES games) on 3DS-VC.
How long until Sony put three sticks on a PSP and then all the sheep demand the same for the Nintendo handheld? Where will this end?? 10 analgue sticks one for each finger??
For complex games with 2 sticks I already have home consoles. There's not really that much of a need to have a portable doing everything that the home version does.....the console stops being quite so portable.
I'd bet this add-on is purely to get the MH series onto the 3DS. After all, most of the PSP's success in Japan was due to it having Monster Hunter. Like most people, I don't really need to have really complex games on a portable so don't see the need for multiple analogue pads. I just want more games on the 3DS that
@shinobi, don't assume what other people are thinking!!
Sony clearly got it wrong with the PSP by rehashing console games onto the PSP without understanding that the market for handhelds is very different to consoles. I don't care how many buttons or sticks or pads are on my handheld console, so long as great games are produced for it that can be played away from home. Great games can be produced for the 3DS without needing a 2nd control pad.....simply because the Sony machine has 2 !
I can't believe the number of people who really think there will be a second analogue pad announced. That rumour was started by some muppet who looked at the PS Ryvita and said the 3DS therefore needs a 2nd pad too.
What we DO need are a load of new games announced, I'm not interested in having 2 pads, I just want a portable machine that plays games SUITABLE for playing on a portable machine. Sony still haven't got that into their heads with either the original PSP or the Vita.......theres no point in just copying console games that are too complicated to play on the train, bus, etc.
Talk of the second analogue is complete nonsense. It only goes to prove that you can say anything ridiculous on the 'net and it will soon become widely reported as 'fact'.
@edhe Yeah we do pay more for goods in the UK but we do have free healthcare via the NHS. I'd be dead if I lived in the US, but here I don't have to worry about going to my GP or to the hospital. All countries have their good and bad points, at least in the UK we know that if we fall ill we don't have to worry about paying extortionate costs for doctors or drugs, or have to fight with Insurance companies.
The problem is that it is Nintendo of EUROPE. There are costs involved in translating the game to several different languages - there would be an outcry in the media of several countries if Nintendo dared launching the game across Europe with only English language available!
To all those who are still whining like babies about the free games. Don't download them then!! No-one is forcing you to have these free games and Nintendo didn't have to be anywhere near as generous as they are being. I get the impression that some of you would still be throwing your toys out of the pram even if Nintendo gave us all a full refund.
I paid £40 more to have my 3DS at launch. I'm still happy with the price I paid as an early adopter and I've had several months of joy with Shadow Wars, Pilotwings, Zelda etc. To receive 20 free games as compensation is still an amazing apology from a commercial company.
The IPad is not innovative, its an overpriced toy for people who want to pay over the odds for an underpowered laptop with no keyboard or even USB sockets. To add to the insult to buyers it is made by underpaying Chinese labour in factories with incidents of suicide.
WIth regard to Nintendo's big announcement, why has no-one mentioned launching 3D movies on the 3DS?
Maybe you tried at a bad time? I've redownloaded it again with no problem. I suggest you delete the zip file(s) you've already downloaded and try again? Otherwise contect NoE and hopefully they can help.
