Nobody seems to know very much at all about the Wii U version of Aliens: Colonial Marines. The first person shooter was released on other platforms back in February and was supposed to be released for Wii U in the system's launch window - which is set to close on 31st March.
There have been rumours that the title has been postponed, however SEGA has confirmed that it will be released in the first quarter of 2013 as planned.
Last week a SEGA representative said there was no further news on the supposedly upcoming release, while Demiurge, the developer behind the Wii U edition, said it had no comment on it either.
It now appears that Gearbox, the developer behind the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC versions of Aliens: Colonial Marines, doesn't know if the title will ever see the light of day at all on Wii U, never mind make the launch window.
Speaking to GameSpot, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford said:
We'll see. That's not our call. I think [Demiurge Studios] did amazing work. I think it's really cool, but Sega's got to figure that out. We're doing the best we can.
It looks as though the fate of Aliens: Colonial Marines is firmly in the hands of SEGA. The publisher again declined to comment.
What are your thoughts on this one? Will you be picking up a copy if it ever does get released? Let us know in the comments section below.

Is there anyone left who actually wants this game? I hope not!
@Linkstrikesback I want it. The game it was originally meant to be, that is.
I no longer have any interest in this.
I'm kinda hoping that they heard all of the negative press on the game and their going back to tweak it. I still want it, I still believe they can salvage this game.
I think its worth noting that Nintendo took this game off their list of Wii U games, on their website.
honestly, the bad reviews from the game, and bad gameplay videos i've seen completely turned me away from it. during the time i found out about the game i saw the Alien movies, and I was excited, but now. I dont care.
If they take additional time to rectify the games flaws (assuming its like all ther other versions), then I would still be interested. But like the saying "you can't polish a turd" it's maybe for the best if this never see's the light of day.
So, Randy Pitchfork says Demerge did an "amazing job".
I think Gearbox will not be trusted ever again after all the cow-mess they quoted prior to Aliens being reviewed. Although wouldn't it be ironic if the WiiU version ended up being the only decent version? (not that we are likely to see it)
I'd prefer it doesn't ever come out. We don't need something like this damaging the Wii U's library.
Maybe if they sell it for $20 some game starved Wii U owners will pick up a few copies. Maybe they can make it DL only and still turn a profit at $20?
lol
This game is beyond salvation. Give up on it.
If this game ever comes out, I'll head to the store and buy a second copy of Metroid Prime 3.
I'd like a copy. Apparently it's packed with fan-service.
My interest for this game completely dissapeared after I played the Ps3 version at a friend's house.
Could be another Ninja Gainden but otherwise it doesn't bother me either way.
I was only interested in this on Wii U because the Zapper/GamePad motion tracker idea sounded like it had the potential to be brilliant. If the game is as bad as the 360/PS3 versions though then not even that would save it.
Disregarding the failing review scores of the game and probably the fact that demurge studios did an "amazing" job on the game. Why is Sega holding this game back? It could obviously be review score scares but it's probably something else........
I really wanted it but I'll only play it if its like the preview footage they showed us.
@mariobro4: The fact that the game is terrible and no matter what they did to the Wii U version it'll still be a low mediocre at the unrealistically best?
After all the awful reviews (and from what I understand, Gearbox's outright lies to SEGA about what they were doing with the money), SEGA probably doesn't want to release it because they'd just lose more money.
Let's be honest, even if this version is actually fantastic and everything we thought it'd be, it would still do average at best in sales because everyone already lost interest and had their views tainted by the horrible reviews.
Just noticed this game was added back to Toys R Us' site this week.
I don't really know enough about this game to get interested in it. Last I heard it was getting unfavorable reviews all over the place, and that the Wii U version was turning out to be the worst. If I knew what was wrong with it, and if there were any possibility of Demiurge actually fixing up the problems of the original release, to make the Wii U version good, then I might be interested.
I still want it, how bad can it be.
I would hold out for a couple reviews, see if the Wii U version is the one to get
No thanks. I don't like buying sh*tty games. Besides, Gearbox lied.
its not as bad as made out i have it for xbox and im enjoying playing throught it,its the best alien game ive played, should get released on wii u as no real shooters on the u like it.
Maybe it's being "Patched" pre-release with the major patch the PC version just got?
I can't say that I am very eager to see this game released on Wii U. Still, this is strange because the game was showcased quite a bit for the Wii U while it was in development.
If they can some how make this game into what it was suppose to be and they gave it a respectable price cut then I would give it a look but in just a months time that's like asking them to bring the titanic back from the grave. This game will still be a flop no matter what just let it DIE!! -_-
they should do what they did with the old ET Atari game back in 1983 and just bury this game in the middle of a desert then we can all move on
They're turning to the Wii U 'cause it didn't succeed on anything else.
You can shove Colonial Marines up your butt SEGA.
The game has been heavily and negatively criticized, I don't think there are enough people interested in the game anymore.
I'll buy it if it comes out on Wii U. I've held off getting it for PS3 because Randy said the Wii U version was the best. After the abysmal reviews the twins got, I'm waiting & hoping Randy was right. If it skips Wii U, then I'll pass since we know the twins' version is terrible.
^Even if it is better, there's no guarantee the Wii U version will be any good. A step up from terrible is still bad.
Sell it for 30 bucks on the Wii U and maybe I'll buy it but not paying 60 bucks for this.
"We're doing the best we can." ROFL
Did he just say that? About Aliens CM?
Well i guess it's at least present tense, cause if it was past tense it would certainly be a flat out lie, though a lie wouldn't be shocking coming from that guy.
