Re: Best Wii U Games

@JJsNeighborhood i dont know about favorite console but its up there for sure. like yourself our family had a riot with it, so much fun with wiiu party, nintendoland, mario party , mario etc.
Superb console which deserved better.

Re: Video: "This Was My Attempt To Redeem The Story Of Silent Hill 3" - Revisiting Shattered Memories With Sam Barlow

E_maniac

I think i have played shattered memories on Wii more than any other game. I adore it, the atmosphere is stunning, the story is deep and powerful and it has a very mature view on the psycho sexual nature of the plot. Absolutely love it, with the ram and GPU advances we don't get games like this, thoughtful innovative games just prettier same old same old.
In all honesty this is just behind silent hill 2 as one of my faves in the series.

Re: Bayonetta's New Voice Actor Jennifer Hale Issues Statement About Bayonetta 3

E_maniac

@Would_you_kindly well depends what you mean . No man's sky is an indie game but retails for 50. Cost is not the be all end all of what denotes a triple a game.
It has money spent on it that would make indi developers jealous but equally it would pale in comparison to a call of duty or witcher etc.
Bayonetta has historically sold in the low million sellers which is good. But wouldn't keep a triple A title afloat these days . It's all relative.

Re: Bayonetta's New Voice Actor Jennifer Hale Issues Statement About Bayonetta 3

E_maniac

@Nanoline52
As has been mentioned elsewhere, on previous games she did 4 days of 4 hours on each day to do the voice work. So if that number is accurate for the latest release or in the ball park then the $4000 is neither an insult or a boon it is merely an average figure for a mid tier game. This is not a triple A big budget game that will sell millions and millions. It was only green lit in the wiiu and early switch days because nintendo were desperate for more "adult" games and new IPs. It will make money, of course (i doubt it would be a loss leader for the big N, especially not on the switch) but i doubt it will be massive.
Everyone is within their right to refuse or accept work as given but how she has gone about raising the issue is pretty poor.
You can tell the woman who took the role is much more professional and is probably why she does allot more work.

I will definitely not boycot this release. i cannot wait for it.

Re: Talking Point: Given The Voice Artist Controversy, Will You Be Boycotting Bayonetta 3?

E_maniac

@MattT3142 this sums up my thoughts on this.
The fact that a voice actor who is known for advocating fair pay etc took the role is also telling.
I sense someone may have had a little bit of an inflated ego regarding how big the game is (it is pretty small and only continues due to nintendo funding it due to desperation for exclusives in the wiiu and early switch days) and how important her role in that is.
I am not cancelling my pre order and while i respect her choices it does seem that she was offered a fair (if bog standard) pay rate

Re: Metroid Dread Staff Say They've Been Left Out Of The Game's Credits, MercurySteam Responds

E_maniac

@BloodNinja nothing wrong with pointing it out as something to look at, but there are ways of doing it, this has gotten all out of hand people going mad for something they either dont understand or has nothing to do with them.
I dont know if mercury steam are a good bad or indifferent company to work for, but that isn't the point. In regard to this point they have done absolutely nothing wrong and compared to other companies in the industry may actually be a better one!

Re: Talking Point: The Metroid Dread Credits Debate Is Sadly Common

E_maniac

@BowtieShyGuy why do you see it as being punished? if they were only on temp contracts then why would they be recognized? Its like any job, temp contracts do not get the full perks of full time staff (ie bonuses, insurances etc) why would this be any different?
Does the guy who works in the CD making factory get a credit on the album? or does the temp who cleaned the recording studio get a credit? i dont see the issue. they knew the way it would shake down, why complain about it?

Re: Talking Point: The Metroid Dread Credits Debate Is Sadly Common

E_maniac

@CharlieGirl
I dont get why it should happen? it was stated in their contract what to do to earn a credit. they didnt meet the criteria. Thats all there is to it. The company do not owe these temp workers anything. 8 months is not a long term employee is it? If they wanted to get a credit then they should have worked there longer

Re: Metroid Dread Staff Say They've Been Left Out Of The Game's Credits, MercurySteam Responds

E_maniac

@kobashi100 treatment of staff could be bad, i dont know, but to be honest, that has no relevance to someone not meeting the criteria for getting in the credits.
Nintendo do not usually asociate with companies that may damage their standing so i would need to see good evidence to suggest they are bad, rather than a couple of statements from disgruntled employees. Because by that measure the company i work for is the worst ever (because we have fired lazy, useless idiots) and they were unhappy about it and tried to bad mouth them. I'm not a company man, i work for the weekend but evidence of wrong doing has to be something tangible. (which it may be, but hopefully you understand what im saying)
still, great game!

Re: Metroid Dread Staff Say They've Been Left Out Of The Game's Credits, MercurySteam Responds

E_maniac

@BloodNinja it makes you glad you didnt support the whole studio and hundreds of staff because some workers didnt meet the clearly defined parameters for getting a credit in the game?
they got paid and they didnt meet the criteria, i'm sorry how is this something we boycot an entire company over.
Lets just try to hurt the companies employees livelihoods by boycotting someone not meeting the agreed criteria for working with that company!

Re: Metroid Dread Staff Say They've Been Left Out Of The Game's Credits, MercurySteam Responds

E_maniac

@CharlieGirl You wouldnt buy the game because a guy who worked on the game for quite short period of time is annoyed he wasnt in the credits. Seriously? do you know if that was in mercury steams contract? Do you know if the workers were good/bad or indifferent fired or whatever?
If you dont want to buy the game, thats cool but dont hide behind that as a reason because that is just weak.

Re: UK Charts: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Sales Keep Rising, But Cyberpunk 2077 Goes Top

E_maniac

@Heavyarms55 i have the game on xboxone (well had.....) i returned it day one, it was ludicrous frame rate regularly hits very low figures , texture pop in is terrible and the world feels barren. Not to mention all the game breaking bugs i only encountered one of them but i didnt play for long before i gave up. Its a disgrace considering the lead platform was supposed to be ps4/xboxone.

Re: Review: Valfaris - Heavy Metal Mayhem That's Rough Around The Edges

E_maniac

this score is crazy, i just got finished with my second play through and i loved every second of it. tight responsive controls , tough but fair (you know you made a mistake) a brilliantly crafted world with an awesome heavy metal soundtrack, whats not to love?
I remember the score for its predecessor was also poor, despite me enjoying it allot (although it has to be said i preferred this game to slain)

Re: Review: Call Of Cthulhu - Oppressive Cosmic Horror That's Plagued By Problems

E_maniac

@YorkshireNed I'm not denying or doubting Lovecraft was racist, the years he operated especially in New England at the time very much conformed to his world view, not saying it is correct for a second by the way. I also don't doubt the cthulhu mythos was based on his fears, insecurities and loathing of , well just about everyone really, but what i am saying is, it didn't directly get referenced in his work anyway near as much as people like to say. I am aware of a few of his overtly racist poems and letters but to my recollection outside of The Horror Of Red Hook i do not believe it is referenced much, if at all.
Not sure why nintendolife decided to devote so much column space to talk about it when it doesn't affect the game in any way and rarely makes the views expressed in his stories

Re: House Of The Dead 1 And 2 Are Coming To Switch

E_maniac

oh how i miss light gun games. please bring light gun games to switch - if i need to buy an accessory i am fine, just bring them!
so many good ones. house of the dead 1-4 and overkill. i'd buy that for a dollar!
I really want silent hill arcade too, i know its not great but i want it

Re: Review: Daemon X Machina - Solid Mech Mayhem That Gets A Tad Repetitive

E_maniac

Didnt think it was anywhere near as bad as what people made out after the demo dropped and uppon hearing the changes made it only sounded better! i have pre ordered it (email from nintendo saying it was shipped today!) im still playing astral chain and fire emblem but astral chain will be swapped out for this once completed.

Re: Guide: Bloodstained's 8-Bit Nightmare: How To Find The Game's Punishing Hidden Level

E_maniac

@RiggsHB
I mirror that experience myself. the two areas i have encountered of slowdown are annoying, granted but not game breaking and the graphical downgrade is understandable but still looks good, The input lag was the only annoyance but i have gotten used to it now and don't even notice it anymore. My missus actually said how pretty it looked, i then told her this was the "ugliest" version and she was very impressed.
Judged on its own merits its a great game with a few performance issues (which will hopefully be ironed out soon) i think its blown way out of proportion

Re: Bloodstained Team Releasing Multiple "Small Updates" To Fix Performance Of The Switch Version

E_maniac

It is not on parity with PS4/xbox one - but if you did not know the graphics for that it wouldnt make any difference,
The only issue i have encountered was some slight slow down (but nothing serious, and mostly when i went to a new area) and the input lag (but this is only on docked, handheld doesnt seem to suffer from the same issue for me anyway)
I have played a good chunk of the game and am enjoying it immensely. While it should have been sorted before launch, its not unplayable and i am having fun

Re: Bloodstained Team Releasing Multiple "Small Updates" To Fix Performance Of The Switch Version

E_maniac

I received mine yesterday and the only real issue I have found so far is the input lag. It's not game breaking but it's not really hood enough in this day and age. Graphics are not as sharp but I don't care about that. Not encountered any serious slowdown but haven't got far enough in maybe. Some load times but again not an issue especially after being a symphony of the night veteran
