Re: Fire Emblem Shadows Gets A Free Update Adding New Story, Map And More

Dunkin

Shadows has a fun story an characters but the gameplay, sadly, is not. Three people and visual clues does not make for a good who dunnit...

In regards to the recent qualities of FE games. I definitely prefer the fun and playful design in games like Conquest, Three Houses and more so in Engage, in comparison with for example Path of Radiance or Binding Blade.

I didn't really care for the story in Engage but i did care for it's characters. In Three Houses they managed to blend the two perfectly.

Shadows potential in the character department is being held down by poor presentation.

Re: Mario Is Getting His Own Balloon At The 99th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

@rjejr Asked? It's a marketing event. Sure they certainly could have reached out with a sales pitch, but it's Nintendo who now chooses to pay the big bucks for a spot in the parade (and maybe advertisement in the broadcast). It's all part of the plan to build the disneyfied entertainment giant Nintendo.

Regarding the pose and lack of capes... Well theres a movie coming out they'll want to market as well as the rereleases of the games.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (20th September)

I'm really into Let's School right now. I know that Nintendolifes reviewer didn't care for it, but I don agree with that interview at all. Where they made it a business simulator within a school setting, I'm working to make it the best environment for my students and teachers. I try real hard to make the school clubs suceed and win their competitions.

I wanted to like Two Point Campus and similar games. But they are more like managing silly amusement parks, than actually running a school.

This was a lot of words for saying. I play Let's School. Its the first well made actual school simulator.

@GrailUK They are not disinterested in Nintendo. Ollie and John are very interested in bith the hardware and software. Thats two out of four in the team. There's only really obe person that's could be described as disinterested, and he's usually not in any of the Nintendo focused videos. I don't really notice the lack of responsiveness in the screen myself, but it's still interesting to understand the tech behind the machine. Like how they in a recent video pointed out that this is an issue that Nintendo might be able to make better without changing the screen used, because it seems like some of the problems is just a calibration issue.

@GrailUK

Don't be that kind of fanboy... Their criticism has been valid and not over the top in any way. Also their 2 hour review of the Switch was 90 percent praise with some well deserved criticism for the lackluster screen.

@XenoShaun

This is not how it works. Advertising and news articles in gaming journalism is completely separated if not labeled otherwise. Those connections means nothing as all editorial staff act independently from each other. Content creators and influencers might act differently, however.

Re: Poll: Have You Won Knockout Tour Online In Mario Kart World Yet?

Dunkin

Not yet. I'm fairly used to being top four. My problem is that I'm bad at memorizing the tracks, and honestly haven't played enough to do it. This, combined with the mini map often not showing the actual end of the race, have me waiting for right time to use my items and then realizing we're right at the finish line...

Re: PSA: Splatoon 3 On Switch Has Made Some Cuts To Keep Pace With Switch 2

@sanderev This isn't at all spinning something negatively. They've balanced the reporting excellently, noting both the good and bad things. Having to scale down the amount of graphical assets in the game is a downgrade, there's no other way to say that. Especially when it's just an effort to keep the games performance a little more stable, and not giving a significant boost.

Re: Review: Star Renegades - Borrows Ideas From The Best To Create A Truly Inventive RPG

I did watch Dodger stream this a while ago. The gameplay and story are intriguing, but I really can't understand some of the design choices. This is a prime example of when design hurts gameplay.

Important to note that the art itself is great. My problem is with broder design choices.

Example: In battles the perspective combined with character sizes and placement, together with an moving environment, makes it hard to focus your eye. I think they should have studied the golden ratio a little when designing these segments.

The world is also a little messy.

Seems like a good game that I want to test on game pass but where I'm weirdly bothered by the design.

It remind me of Jotun. Good game and generally nice drawings, but the perspective was always a little off in almost every background.

Re: PSA: It's Diddy's Kong Quest, Not Diddy Kong's Quest

Dunkin

I didn't even really know what it was called after Donkey Kong Country 2. My parents where pirating most games at the time, so I had most SNES games on floppy disk, don't know if they wrote the full title on it and I guess I never paid much attention to the title screen...

Re: Mini Review: Party Hard 2 - This Stripped-Down Hitman Clone Is A Fun Time

Dunkin

I get that lesser known titles is compared with big games so that more people want to read about them. It's a nice way to get readers attention.

But not only is it overused in a way where every adventure game covered by Nintendolife is described as a Zelda-like. In this case the word "clone" is just used wrong, even by how it's used more broadly in the gaming community.

This is not a Hitman clone. Far from it.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #39 - Wetrix

@gaga64, I would want pictures like that on the back of the box. On the front I'd rather go with the Japanese or European covers. NA:s cover art may be honest, but it would certainly not have me picking it up in the store.
