@BloodyMurder I could have tolerated the censorship if it at least had more to do. A SK game should have at least 20-something playable characters, with some hidden behind unlockables. The total cast from both games is only ten characters...that seems lazy.
I remember even as a kid when I first heard of Metroid, I didn't understand why they called her a bounty hunter. She literally never hunts bounties. I think it just sounded cool to them. Actually, Metroid was the first time I'd ever heard the term bounty hunter, and I looked it up only to find that it was not what Samus does.
Disappointing that there's no real extra content. That's half the charm of at least the SK games I've played in the past...the huge cast of characters (that actually played as differently from one another) and variety of things to unlock. This one definitely sounds like a wait-for-sale. Shame, I was interested in this.
Handheld gaming is my favorite kind. It's the main reason I bought the Switch. Heck, it's the only reason I have any interest in the Steam Deck.
Funny thing though, I do believe the DS era was peak Nintendo but the DS wasn't my favorite console of theirs. Before the Switch, I was all about the Game Boy Advance. Something about the dual screens never really sat right with me. Although I certainly played my fair share of games on all the DS line of consoles, I felt the PSP/Vita were a more natural progression of handheld consoles, and I really wish the Vita had more time and attention from Sony.
That being said, the Switch is a great console and I hope Nintendo continues to grow the concept in the future.
Loved Axelay. It had great ideas through and through. Every stage unique, the weapons serving as your health at the same time, awesome enemy and boss designs, killer music...only problem was even for an SNES-era shmup, it was too short with only six stages (on the other hand, I don't remember it having any sort of password or save system so maybe that was just the right length).
I've often said to folks that Sonic was a great character in bad games. Maybe Sonic's true niche has always been outside of video games. The games are no longer the core product, they're the aftereffect of other media.
Still looking forward to the never-coming day when the main campaign of a Kirby game is as challenging as Kirby's Adventure was in its day.
That being said, you can't go wrong with a Kirby game. They're always fun and this one sounds like one of the best yet. Can't wait to blast through it in co-op with my son.
Even when I played Kirby's Dream Land as a youth, I've always felt bad for Whispy. He literally can't move. He's minding his business. And when Kirby is done abusing him, Whispy sheds a tear of sorrow while Kirby dances in front of it in torment. It's horrifying.
I bought Rise Eterna for $1.00 and still felt like I paid way too much for it. So I'm a bit wary of indie turn-based strategy games. However, this one sounds worth looking into after I'm done with TS.
Sad that there's no mention of Yo-Yo, Tornado or Suplex here. But as far as this list goes, Hi-Jump has always held a special place in my heart. It was like Kirby could kind of Shoryuken before getting the Fighter ability.
I wouldn't have minded if the game maintained its play quality and pushed the envelope a bit more with the naughtiness factor, but at any rate it sounds like a fun time. If a Metroidvania is well made and offers a reasonable length, I'm for it. Never stop making them, devs.
I originally played this on PS3. Loved it, and because I enjoyed P4G on Vita, the story mode held my interest. I don't play online either, so the netcode thing doesn't matter to me at all. This is a clear double-dip for me.
That being said, I have both Switch and PS4, so which console I buy it for ultimately comes down to which controller I prefer. That's pretty much a coin toss between the Dual Shock and the Pro Controller for me.
Not bad, it must be selling well. The game is quite a competent shooter, actually...better than some lower-end, pixel-based, save-the-galaxy-yet-again situation.
Guess I'm going to have to hurry up and get done with Triangle Strategy...my brain can only keep track of so many fantasy worlds and all their intrigue at once...because this is looking like my kind of game, yet again.
My Switch is great. Had it for I think about four years now. I've given up on the Joy-Cons though. I have a third party pair that have given me no problems after over a year of use.
Games-wise, it has kept me entertained more than any other console or service I have access to. I've got no real complaints about it, it's been a wonderful gaming experience for me overall.
Haven't seriously played a Bat game on a Nintendo system since the SNES days...I have real fond memories of Batman and Robin on SNES (although that game was absurdly hard) and the NES game. Batman: Return of the Joker on NES was a beautiful game too.
I liked Arkham Asylum on PS3 at any rate, but didn't really deep dive into the rest of that series.
Didn't bother with it for Switch yet, but since the change happened I went ahead and added Crunchyroll to my Roku. Seems more stable than Funimation's app, at any rate.
Can't wait to play more of the series. All four ToCS games were great, as were the Trails in the Sky games. I was curious about Lloyd and the gang with their guest starring in Rean's adventures, so I'm looking forward to this.
I never play fighting games online anyway, but I know that's one thing fighting games live and die by these days. Thankfully, the Switch Pro Controller is just fine for fighting games, so I'll have plenty of couch co-op and on-the-go fun with it.
Switch comparisons are fair--I think it's safe to say the Deck would probably not exist if the Switch didn't show the potential for powerful portable hybrids--but they really seem to serve two different markets in my eyes.
I preordered it as a novelty because I thought it was neat. I doubt it'll fully replace my Switch, but I like the idea of playing some PC games on a handheld with a bit more oomph.
I remember Zenonia being quite good. Soul of Darkness too. I remember scouring the DSi shop out of sheer boredom, desperate for something to play for the system, and they both caught my eye.
As much as I love Darkstalkers, it's a bit underwhelming that five of the games in this ten-game collection are from that series. Still, I never played Cyberbots or Red Earth, so that alone will make it worth it, along with the other gems--depending on the price.
I'm okay with using a common formula with your own aesthetic or spin on it. Unsighted feels like a Zelda game while still looking and playing in unique ways. This just looks too derivative for my tastes.
I found myself mildly intrigued by the demo, then when I got my first partner demon, named 'Lust', I was surprised that it was just another skeleton. So yeah, I agree they really could have done a lot more with the enemy variety given the theme. Reading that the variety doesn't really improve over the course of the game gives me pause and makes me think it'll be overall tedious to play through, at least visually. Too many better RPGs to choose from...I'll pass for now.
The British voice acting was a nice change of pace for me, being so used to hearing American English in so many games. As long as there's some dubbing, I'll take what I can get...I will always prefer even spotty voice acting I can understand over subs, be it in games or anime or what have you.
The game would be right up my alley if it didn't have such a generic hero. Eh, I may get it anyway, but some customization or variety would have been nice.
The Balance Board was one of Nintendo's best creations ever, IMO. I was one of the few who put in dozens of hours into Wii Fit and the enhanced Wii U version.
Really wish it was made compatible with the Switch.
As for this game? Meh. Go with your heart, I guess.
Would have been an even bigger fan of the Zelda series if this were canon.
I always thought Link looked a bit feminine in early illustrations, especially when depicted in Zelda II and LttP's artwork. As if female was the original intent.
Octopath Traveler was lightning in a bottle branding, because of the 'Traveler' part, it worked great and told the story of what the game was about. Triangle Strategy was an honestly weak attempt at recreating that feeling. I wish someone would have recognized it wasn't good...
I mean, I'm still going to buy the game, and at the end of the day, the name will be seen as quirky, if nothing else. It's not the end of the world...just a weird thing to settle on.
@russell-marlow ah. Yeah, I’m a fan of that particular attire in DD too. Sadly, MH doesn’t go that far. But I think my hunter’s attire is still pretty appealing.
@russell-marlow I made a layered armor set using pieces of the last boss' gear, essentially bikini armor for my hunter. You can mix and match pretty much anything with the right materials while maintaining whatever defenses and skills you prefer. So the short answer is, if you want revealing attire for your hunter, you can absolutely have it, with a bit of creativity.

Re: Unsouled Is A 'Brutally Intense' Action-RPG That's All About Precision Combat
Looks nice, but doesn't look like a game I 'need' after having my fill of Hyper Light Drifter and Unsighted.
Plus with my experience playing games like Code Vein, Salt and Sanctuary and Elden Ring, I require character customization in my souls-likes...

Weird name, but it looks like fun. Kind of reminds me of Goblin Sword, which was a nice little romp for its price.
