Re: Devs Speak Out Against Crunch Culture At LEGO Star Wars Developer TT Games

@Menardi You're aware other websites exist, yes?

I don't really need to say much more here, as my colleague @antdickens has already hit the nail very firmly on the head, but just because you personally have an issue with the way things are on the site does not mean we're going to change - not when the vast majority of our readers are happy with how things are, and the site is growing and growing each year.

We take our jobs very seriously and pick and choose what we report on – but, as Ant says, we're not just a straight 'news outlet' and never have been (which makes your assertion that the site has 'changed' or 'gotten worse' puzzling – we've been doing what we do for 15 years) and we run other content related to Nintendo, such as culture pieces, humorous observations and much more besides.

If those don't sit well with you, then... don't read them? Click on the stories that do interest you. No one is expecting you to read 100% of what we post, that would be unrealistic.

And to second @nessisonett's comment, these articles aren't produced by robots – an actual person has put this piece together, so please refrain from hurling totally false insults in the comment section – unless, of course, you'd rather not be part of our community.

We have no issue with constructive feedback, but when you're reduced to insults ("arrogant thirty-something nerd power trip authors fresh off of Twitter"), then it sadly says more about you than the state of the site, I'm afraid.

Have a good one!

@Scapetti You do understand that precisely because of the pressure and attitudes described in this piece, employees are often reluctant to come forward and speak out about it? Hence the need to remain anonymous? There's clearly something amiss at TT Games (the delays and the decision to shift away from Unreal Engine and then back again indicates that). These reports are part of that story.

If we were only reporting official "facts" then the site would be an endless procession of sanitised press releases, which I'm sure you wouldn't want, either.

Re: Random: Fan-Made 'Next-Gen PlayStation Portable' Concept Imagines A World Where Sony Takes On Nintendo (Again)

Damo

@nhSnork "As for "whether Switch is even truly a handheld", Switch is a hybrid console with a legit handheld mode among others. What part of it is still rocket science in 2022?"

You've missed the point of what was being said here. My point was: is it fair to say that Sony isn't in the handheld arena when Nintendo arguably has a foot in both markets when it comes to the Switch? Switch isn't just a handheld, and is arguably in competition with Sony / PS4 / PS5 because it can be used as a home console, too.

Re: GoldenEye 007 Is Getting A Digital Release, But Not On A Nintendo Console

Damo

@NinChocolate @JaxonH As I said in my previous reply here, there's currently zero evidence to suggest that it's coming to Switch, but there IS evidence that it's coming to Xbox. So if we state that it's only coming to Xbox, we get accused of clickbait, but if we'd have said it was also coming to Switch, we'd also be accused of clickbait because, at present, there's no indication that it is.

However, as noted in the piece, the fact that an Xbox release is happening does bode well for a Switch release in the future.

Re: GoldenEye 007 Is Getting A Digital Release, But Not On A Nintendo Console

Damo

@Folkloner As it stands, the evidence only confirms an Xbox version. If we'd have said in the headline that a Switch version might also happen, then we'd get accused of clickbait too.

By the way, the overly negative tone of your comments has been noted for a while now - it would be great if you could bring a little more positivity to our community, rather than negativity? New year, new start and all that. 😄

Re: Video: We Forced A Bot To Create Switch Games That Don't Exist, And Now We Wish They Did

Damo

@SonOfVon This actually took a lot of effort to put together, so it's a long way from being "low effort BS".

As you can see from the other comments, plenty of people enjoyed it and found it amusing (which was the intention). It's highly unlikely that every piece of content we run is going to be to the liking of 100% of the audience, so my advice would be to focus your energy on commenting on articles which do interest you.

Re: Analogue Pocket Will Be Available To Order Again Next Week, But There's A Catch

Damo

@Chris77 Yeah, volume does come into this. I have no idea how many units they're producing each time - it's going to be in the 1000s I would say, if not the tens of thousands - but people do forget that Analogue isn't Nintendo or Sony or Microsoft, and even those companies are struggling to keep up with demand.

It's basically a terrible time to be manufacturing any kind of hardware which requires microchips, be that games consoles or motorcars!

Re: Ouch! Nintendo Hacker Gary Bowser Hit With Additional $10 Million Fine

Damo

@DoomTurtle Sorry, I meant that it "100%" impacts the business - as if, it definitely does have an impact, not a 100% impact. Obviously a lot of people who pirate games wouldn't have purchased anything in the first place, but there are plenty of people I know who bought consoles in the past, purchased software and then realised they could get it hacked and never paid money for a game again.

Re: Talking Point: What Can This $1200 Portable PC Tell Us About The 'Switch Pro'?

Damo

@johnvboy Did you actually read the article? I make it very clear that despite the underpowered nature of the Switch chipset (when compared to other tech on the market) it is capable of producing amazing results - and that Nintendo has struck the perfect balance between power and stamina by picking the X1. I'm not sure where you're picking up the negativity from?
