@hillyarb "you have a right to other peoples art to be adjusted to your liking? Seems kind of odd."
That isn't even remotely what is being suggested in this piece, so I'd highly recommend you read it again (or perhaps for the first time?) before posting any more comments.
@HamatoYoshi "Look at Street Fighter 2, Final Fights Poison is transgender etc etc."
You literally couldn't have picked two worse examples there. Dhalsim is wearing shrunken skulls as a necklace and Poison is one of the most cack-handed representations of a transgender person in the history of video games - and that's really saying something.
@Crono1973 Being of a particular skin colour and wanting to see yourself reflected to some degree in video games (and other media, while we're at it) isn't 'political'. It's a right that most straight, white men have become far too accustomed to having over the past few decades (myself included) and it's high time it changed.
@MasterJay I believe that's based on units sold, not dollar sales. The Series X costs more than the Switch, so it needs to sell fewer units to take the 'dollar sales' spot.
@6thHorizon The $10 figure relates to the Bill of Materials, which is the basic way of costing the manufacture of ANY consumer product - stuff like R&D, design, research, testing, etc doesn't come into that figure and never has.
@johnvboy Where does it say we think "Nintendo are acting against the consumer with this one"?
At no point in the piece does Liam say that Nintendo shouldn't be making more money on the Switch OLED - the thing about Bloomberg not getting a statement from Nintendo is to do with the fact that of course Nintendo wouldn't comment on this. That's all.
It seems to me that you might be reading too much into Liam's story and applying your own spin on it.
@mazz Given that it was traded for an item that is now worth over $500k, it's a fair assumption to make. Even more so when you consider that a sealed copy of Mario Bros went for $660k (a rare variant, admittedly).
@Ambassador_Kong You're misunderstanding the piece. The game has been confirmed for Switch but it's subject to a successful KS campaign. If the campaign doesn't hit its target, it might not come to ANY platform.
@Paraka Of course 2D + 3D has existed for a while (I'm 42 this year, trust me, I'm aware of that) but this is clearly going for the same visual style as Octopath, with the pixel-heavy sprites, chunky, scale-model-style buildings and soft focus effects. It's not the fact that it's 2D+3D which makes this like Octopath – it's the deeper visual aesthetics, too.
@iuli We can host the stream on the site but we never 'co-stream' any Nintendo event - which is the act of including a livestream within your own stream, which is happening at the same time.
@dani3po We got sick of 'bullshot' press images for Switch titles a while back and decided it was worth the effort to take our own screens for our reviews, both for handheld and docked, so you can actually see the game you'll be getting. Glad it's appreciated
@nhSnork From the way you speak, you'd assume this was exclusive to the games industry, but this is how much of the media works. Conversations are had, information is shared, names are withheld. As for the legitimacy of such leaks, that's down to the judgment of the site in question when it comes to coverage, but if we were a site that purely reported on official PR, it would be pretty boring, no?
@DrDaisy A) These are the NES games, so it's still relevant to many people who visit this site.
B) Many people who visit this site are interested in Sega-related things (hence the fact that we reviewed the Mega Drive Mini). They're also interested in retro in general, which is why we cover this and other topics (like the Neo Geo and PC Engine Mini)
C) There's nothing baity about the title, and if you don't like the coverage we do, don't click the stories you'd rather not read?
@Tasuki I believe so. "In English, the several variations of the spelling of the word include yogurt, yoghurt, and to a lesser extent yoghourt or yoghurt"
@Dethmunk I didn't include the links originally as A) they're all in the link chain that we have linked to (which Frank quote-tweets) and they were quite spread out. However, I've added links to the relevant pieces of text (as well as a screenshot of the tweet chain) to make it clearer.
@KoopaTheGamer I've literally quoted what the developer is saying. And while Nintendo didn't publish the game, it did allow it to be published - so they have a point.
@Mach_Rider Honest question, as one huge Castlevania fan to another - what issues did you have with it? I mean, it wasn't perfect (what video game adaptation could be?) but it was a long way from being a travesty, at least in my book.
@Ralizah @NoxAeturnus @SuperCharr @DrDaisy @iuli @clvr @MajorasLapdog @GrailUK Apologies. I've changed the title to make it more clear. Thanks for the feedback - the intention was never to mislead, but rather alert the reader that it's not good news.
@SpringDivorce I'm the same, I prefer going digital so I've got my collection with me at all times, but I do get the appeal of having a nice physical copy on the shelf - and of course, there's the issue of games getting delisted and you no longer being able to download them. But yeah, on balance, digital is my preferred choice!

Re: Soapbox: Indies Lead The Way But Nintendo Shows Progress Representing People Of Colour
@hillyarb And you contest that?
Re: Soapbox: Indies Lead The Way But Nintendo Shows Progress Representing People Of Colour
@HamatoYoshi "ok, so you tell me how people should be represented in games?"
Games should be reflective of society.

@Razzy Exactly!

@6thHorizon Misleading how?

Re: Switch OLED Upgrades Reportedly Cost Nintendo "Around $10 More Per Unit"
@johnvboy Oh, I know. A lot of people have read the story and injected their own perspective - which happens. We all do it!
However, Liam is merely presenting the facts here, nothing more.

@johnvboy "Bits like this make me feel the purpose of this article is not as innocent as you are making out"
How? All Liam has done is point out that there's more profit in this model. That's just maths.
Re: Switch OLED Upgrades Reportedly Cost Nintendo "Around $10 More Per Unit"
@6thHorizon Could you point out exactly where in the piece we're implying shady practices on Nintendo's behalf? Thanks!
Re: Switch OLED Upgrades Reportedly Cost Nintendo "Around $10 More Per Unit"
@Dethmunk All we've done here is report in the $10 figure which has been confirmed by Bloomberg. Where are we 'gaslighting' anyone?

@nhSnork If they had to give names, then the sources wouldn't talk. This isn't unique to the video game industry; NDAs exist everywhere.

@sanderev The source cited in this piece literally calls it a "Switch-like" device.
