@Snatcher noticed your icon, my daughter and I just played through Hat in Time. Excellent game, I hope they make a sequel one day with a bigger budget. One of the better platformers I have played in a while.
Take note Nintendo, fans desperately want Earthbound to come back so they are making Earthbound alikes left and right. On a side note, this looks possibly good.😊
I think I just have anxiety. I feel the same way at birthdays or anything where I dont know what to expect. I dont want Nintendo to slip back into the dark Wii U years so I'm hoping for something good.
I wish game companies would wait till a game is mostly done to even announce it, that would save the fans all the worry and speculation that comes with knowing about a project years in advance. If you don't even know its coming restarts and setbacks don't bother you in the least. I think a 6 month window is a good period to build excitement and hype but more than a year out is a little premature. Origami King was perfect in this respect, announced out of nowhere then shortly after we got it.
@bimboliquido thats what I was wondering, I was under the impression that you couldn't load new assets into the game and that while a strong builder program everything still looked kinda generic.
@Supadav03 I always love the look of white systems when they are new but my only complaint is that with time they look dirty or stained. My DS looked good on the outside but the inside discolored a bit.
Color Splash gets so much hate and I really enjoyed that game a lot. I agree Sticker Star was lack luster but Color Splash fixed the whole "no reason to even fight" issue. To each their own I guess.
This list is mostly solid could fluctuate a little with X. 1. Final Fantasy VI 2. Chrono Trigger 3. LOZ A link to the past. 4. Xenogears 5. Xenoblade chronicles X Runners Up Earthbound, FFiv, Xenoblade 1 or 2, Etrian Odyssey IV, Suikoden 2, Secret of Mana, Atelier Ryza 2, Crosscode, Gris.
@Ghost_of_Hasashi I agree, v is just a special game and is one of my favorite RPGs of all time. Such a fun heartwarming saga. I have super fond memories of this game. That being said all Dragon Quests are good five is just amazing.
@Jamie_R I definitely could use less roguelike games, no offense to those who like them but I really don't. But yes overall there are a lot of ideas that are way over used but there are a lot of hidden gems as well.
@nessisonett there deffinately are the memes but both of the Ryza games are genuinely great games. I don't doubt Ryza being attractive helps but if the games were bad that alone would not bring the success they have had.
I just want gyroids back.😢 They were always one of my favorite aspects of Animal Crossing. I would dedicate entire houses to them and it was always exciting when you dug one up.
@Beatrice personally Etrian Odyssey IV is one of my favorite RPGs of all time, I feel with the airship it's exploration is so much better than the others. V is very good but Nexus was just recycled from other games and very lazy in my opinion. But that's the beauty of gaming, we all have our favorites I suppose.
I just hope they fix the issue where sometimes physical games left running in sleep mode error and shut down due to the system thinking the game card had been removed. The ship feature in Bravely Default 2 has this happen fairly often.
A lot of people are upset that BD2 didn't innovate more but thats kinda the point of the series, people were disillusioned by what Final Fantasy had become and the BD series dialed it back to a simpler time. I say yay to them for keeping classic RPGs alive. New ones are great too but also love classic.
@Razer Just because you don't like the art style doesn't mean it's not a AAA quality game. To be fair I dont care for the character art myself however the level of care put into the games in this series is very high. They are intended to recreate the RPGs of the 90s and do so lovingly. Also they have very deep well thought out battle systems, they are as AAA as any other game despite character design.
All the Xenoblade games are awesome in my opinion. Really like this series. I will agree that the random aspects of 2 should not come back but I still loved that game.
@Ambassador_Kong Thanks, I strive for the best. Joking aside, sorry if I hurt your feelings not my intention but I clearly irritated with my comment. However considering some of the other posts I see on here I am somewhat flabbergasted that mine was so odious as to incur wrath. Oh well you live you learn.
@Trajan I am of the opinion that most people who hated on this game are kids who never played it or people who were not good at it, and in today's game world if a game is too hard for someone it's obviously a terrible game. I thought the controls were perfectly fine when it first released and even consider this one of my favorite Zeldas. Obviously there are different opinions on everything but I feel on the internet its the people that hate everything you hear the most from. Anyway Zelda as a series is always excellent quality and any mainline Zelda is usually worth the asking price if you hold it up against some other games out there that are broken or unfinished.
@SalvorHardin Of course it would. There will always be another system eventually. Even though the Switch is awesome it too will be replaced one day. Maybe with something better maybe not.
@JimmySpades I don't believe those of us who bought Wii Us were idiots, just Nintendo fans same as you. That system had some great games, as is obvious that they are all coming back. It was just woefully under supported and poorly marketed. Also I feel most people who hate on it never even had one, the gamepad was amazing and I thought very comfortable. I have some very fond memories of Affordable Space Adventures with my friends on Wii U. Also drawing comics back and forth on the mii-verse.
I didn't appreciate this game as a kid only because I loved Link to the Past for SNES so much. I didn't transition to 3d games easily. Personally I felt the low poly games of the day looked bad compared to the beautiful sprite work that came at the end of the 16bit era. I did eventually adjust obviously since I still play today lol.
@antdickens I think you guys do a fine job. I think people tend to forget that major things don't happen in the world of Nintendo everyday yet as a media outlet it's your responsibility to give your readers something to fill the gaps between major announcements and such. I like that you guys aren't overly critical or jaded of gaming as I feel some other sites are and I read a lot of hate in the comments and I just wanted to let you guys know you do a great job. You are people too after all and need to hear that. Especially like Alex, how could you not like Alex, such a happy guy.
@idrawrobots Depends on the Zelda I suppose, I would say most of them are a stylized fantasy medieval setting, however Spirit Tracks was western and Windwaker was Nautical so some variety I guess.
@TruthisRare I also like 3d World better. I like the tighter focus on gameplay not collecting. To be honest I would like to see more Mario in this format.
@RadioHedgeFund It still belongs to them though so they can do whatever they want with it. Doesn't matter about the money, its there property. If you didn't use something in your house for years that doesn't mean someone can just walk in and take it or do whatever they want with it.
This is not a Nintendo first, there was a rock formation in one of the older Mario Karts that was an arch you drove under and it was just a ridiculously obvious dong. It was a beach level.
@JuiceMan_V The main game runs just fine now. The classic mode could use some frame rate work etc. I got the game at launch tried it then quit till they fixed it and then just about a month or two ago I played the main game, I had fun with it. It was perfectly playable and I didn't notice any lag or other major issues that were present in the beginning.
@Tim_Vreeland while on a technical level that may be true the diverse range of sounds the snes could produce were much wider than that of the genesis and I will still say that while clarity may be better on genesis, overall music not just composition was far superior on snes. To me the genesis while a great system I loved, just had raspy grating chip tunes whereas snes actually could produce some nice music despite slightly less clarity.
These games "the Ryza ones specifically" are great! I really like the overall more down to earth stories they tell, I have already played about a thousand emo amnesia riddled hero with big sword saves the world from evil because reasons games and while great something more light hearted is also good. Ryza is full of thighs and lows, a wonderful experience.

I really want to see a new Monolith soft game at E3. A new Xenoblade would be amazing but any new IP would be good.

Re: The Atelier Ryza Series Has Shipped One Million Copies, Koei Tecmo Celebrates With Free DLC Costumes
@VoidofLight Ryza 1 and 2 go with each other but stand alone from the rest of the atelier series. 1 is more relaxed 2 is a more traditional rpg. Imo.
Re: Talking Point: Which Old Game Series Would You Like To See Revived?
Starfox but as Starfox adventures. And sacrifice Smash or Splatoon.

@Cikoltan Same here, I thought it was going to be a Xc2 sequel or something and was promptly crushed when I found out it was just Smash.

@SoManyHaveDied No, that was just for the Smash trailer. Didn't have anything to do with the actual game if you are interested in playing it.

@jkelley75 they said in the article that they were excluding it due to the fact that it was a spin off and created it's own series.
