I would like IV, V, and VI on Switch!

This poll is depressing Dragon Warrior III's position on the Top 50 NES games list! It's fallen to #20. Why are people rating it so low??

@FeverDreem You know that Nintendo didn't make those games, right? Square and Konami would have to want to strike up a licensing deal with Nintendo to put them on the service. The big companies mostly prefer to do their own retro releases now, like Square did with the Mana collection.

I got into these videos right before the 2018 championship, and man were the finals awesome. So sad about Jonas's death. R.I.P.

Very disappointing we never got the Mario 2 style (or some other style).

I think this list would make more sense if you just removed the collections. It's sort of bizarre.

Now release the original Famicom version in English translation to, a la Fire Emblem!

A bit off-topic, but I was surprised to see, when I downloaded it to Switch, that the original Doom is rated M! I played that when I was young and thought little of it because the gore was so cartoony and the enemies were all fictional monsters.

The release date listed is for the FDS version, but the original Famicom version released much earlier: January 1986.

I'm glad the anti-cheese snobs are no longer dominant (if they ever were).

@dustinprewitt Yeah, there are tons of games that got added to the database, but hardly anyone rated them so it didn't matter. The list is pretty good, though.

I was gonna get this eventually anyway, so this is good news for me! "Arcade" in the title still makes no sense.

EDIT: Oh yeah, it collapsed within a few hours. Still in the top 20, though, and a few more votes on Gargoyle's Quest II and Life Force may give a DQ3 a chance to re-enter the top 10.

@Willmercade Only games available on modern hardware have more than 50 votes. Many important games weren't even in the database when the list went live. Needs a mass voting article! Mega Man 4 is just seven votes away from jumping into the top 10.

@HalBailman In the early days of Nintendo Life, they used the Virtual Console release dates, because that's how and when the games were being put into the database in the first place.

@dartmonkey A voting feature would revolutionize this list and make it epic! Several classics are languishing with less than 50 votes, like Battletoads, Blades of Steel, Bubble Bobble, Contra, Super C, Double Dragon III, Dragon Warrior, Duck Tales, Faxanadu, Galaga, Gargoyle's Quest II, Life Force, Mega Man 4, Mega Man 5, Mega Man 6, Mighty Final Fight, The Mysterious Murasame Castle, Ninja Gaiden II, Pac-Man, S.C.A.T., TMNT, & TMNT II.

@dartmonkey Please add Dragon Warrior II, III, and IV. There are other important games missing from the database, too. How come a feature wasn't run in advance with everyone able to vote down the list, like was done for GBA?

I will never be able to separate this game from the beginning of the pandemic. It's almost eerie.

This will be difficult since 75% of the levels people choose are 1-1 and 1-2.

This review is slightly misleading: Galaxian, Mappy, Dig Dug, and Tower of Druaga were all Famicom games, never released on the NES (same as Dragon Buster and Splatterhouse, which it correctly identifies as Famicom games). The only games in this collection that were ever on the NES are Pac Man, Dragon Spirit, Xevious, and Sky Kid.

This doesn't go back even close to 31 years. Lame without NES and SNES.

Okay, but now do a retro review of the Famicom version!

They should really write a retro review of this, especially with the popularity of the Tetris Classic World Championship every year!

Still waiting for the SMB 2 style.
