@FeverDreem You know that Nintendo didn't make those games, right? Square and Konami would have to want to strike up a licensing deal with Nintendo to put them on the service. The big companies mostly prefer to do their own retro releases now, like Square did with the Mana collection.
A bit off-topic, but I was surprised to see, when I downloaded it to Switch, that the original Doom is rated M! I played that when I was young and thought little of it because the gore was so cartoony and the enemies were all fictional monsters.
@dustinprewitt Yeah, there are tons of games that got added to the database, but hardly anyone rated them so it didn't matter. The list is pretty good, though.
@JonComms At least they're on the list now, and DQ4 is #1 (though it will probably drop, too.
EDIT: Oh yeah, it collapsed within a few hours. Still in the top 20, though, and a few more votes on Gargoyle's Quest II and Life Force may give a DQ3 a chance to re-enter the top 10.
People! Bionic Commando, Dragon Warrior IV, Gargoyle's Quest II, and Ninja Gaiden III are all just THREE votes away from revolutionizing this list yet again! Let's make it happennnnnnnn...
@Willmercade Only games available on modern hardware have more than 50 votes. Many important games weren't even in the database when the list went live. Needs a mass voting article! Mega Man 4 is just seven votes away from jumping into the top 10.
@HalBailman In the early days of Nintendo Life, they used the Virtual Console release dates, because that's how and when the games were being put into the database in the first place.
@dartmonkey A voting feature would revolutionize this list and make it epic! Several classics are languishing with less than 50 votes, like Battletoads, Blades of Steel, Bubble Bobble, Contra, Super C, Double Dragon III, Dragon Warrior, Duck Tales, Faxanadu, Galaga, Gargoyle's Quest II, Life Force, Mega Man 4, Mega Man 5, Mega Man 6, Mighty Final Fight, The Mysterious Murasame Castle, Ninja Gaiden II, Pac-Man, S.C.A.T., TMNT, & TMNT II.
@dartmonkey I see you've added some more, like Tecmo Super Bowl! But these high-quality games are still missing:
Adventures of Lolo 3
Arkanoid
Baseball Stars
Baseball Stars II
Best of the Best: Championship Karate
The Blue Marlin
Bonk's Adventure
Break Time: The National Pool Tour
The Chessmaster
Final Fantasy III
Formula One: Built to Win
G.I. Joe
Greg Norman's Golf Power
The Guardian Legend
Guerrilla War
Gun-Nac
Jackal
Kung Fu
The Lone Ranger
The Magic of Scheherazade
Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!
Ms. Pac-Man (Namco and Tengen versions)
Nobunaga's Ambition II
Panic Restaurant
Pirates!
Power Blade
R.C. Pro-Am II
Rainbow Islands: Story of Bubble Bobble 2
Romance of the Three Kingdoms II
Shatterhand
Silkworm
Super Spy Hunter
TMNT: Tournament Fighters
Tetris (Tengen version)
Track & Field II
The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles
R.C. Pro-Am and Smash T.V. are in the database, but can't be rated because they're listed as "announced."
@dartmonkey Please add Dragon Warrior II, III, and IV. There are other important games missing from the database, too. How come a feature wasn't run in advance with everyone able to vote down the list, like was done for GBA?
This review is slightly misleading: Galaxian, Mappy, Dig Dug, and Tower of Druaga were all Famicom games, never released on the NES (same as Dragon Buster and Splatterhouse, which it correctly identifies as Famicom games). The only games in this collection that were ever on the NES are Pac Man, Dragon Spirit, Xevious, and Sky Kid.

Re: Dragon Quest Creator Teases Exciting Announcements For 35th Anniversary
I would like IV, V, and VI on Switch!
Re: Poll: What's The Best Dragon Quest Game?
This poll is depressing Dragon Warrior III's position on the Top 50 NES games list! It's fallen to #20. Why are people rating it so low??

Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online SNES And NES Service With Five More Titles
Spanky's Quest, nice! Also happy to get a Famicom game to try.
Re: E3 2021 Bolsters Its Line-Up With Square Enix, Sega, Bandai Namco And More
@Slowdive Yes, please, SquareEnix! FF I-VI and DQ 4-6 are a must on Switch!
Re: How The Competitive Tetris Community Is Picking Up The Pieces After The Death Of A Legend
I got into these videos right before the 2018 championship, and man were the finals awesome. So sad about Jonas's death. R.I.P.
Re: Super Mario Maker 2 Players Have Now Uploaded More Than 26 Million Courses
Very disappointing we never got the Mario 2 style (or some other style).
Re: Feature: Every Mega Man Game Ranked
I think this list would make more sense if you just removed the collections. It's sort of bizarre.
Re: Limited Run Reveals Four Castlevania Anniversary Collection Physical Editions
Standard Edition looks nice!
Re: Video: After 30 Years, We've Finally Played Famicom Detective Club on Switch
Now release the original Famicom version in English translation to, a la Fire Emblem!
Re: Feature: Why Do Games Get Removed From Switch eShop? It's Surprisingly Easy
A bit off-topic, but I was surprised to see, when I downloaded it to Switch, that the original Doom is rated M! I played that when I was young and thought little of it because the gore was so cartoony and the enemies were all fictional monsters.
Re: TwinBee
The release date listed is for the FDS version, but the original Famicom version released much earlier: January 1986.
Re: Talking Point: Is "Cheesing" A Legitimate Strategy?
I'm glad the anti-cheese snobs are no longer dominant (if they ever were).
Re: Feature: Best NES Games
@dustinprewitt Yeah, there are tons of games that got added to the database, but hardly anyone rated them so it didn't matter. The list is pretty good, though.
Re: Namco Museum Archives Vol 1
Some of these games are great!
Re: Blizzard Arcade Collection Free Update Adds Lost Vikings 2 And RPM Racing
I was gonna get this eventually anyway, so this is good news for me! "Arcade" in the title still makes no sense.
Re: Feature: Best Super Nintendo (SNES) Games
@dartmonkey Can we get the four Mortal Kombat games added to the database?

Re: Feature: Best NES Games
Holy crap, the list just changed a ton. Dragon Warrior III has fallen so far.

Harsh review!

Re: Final Fantasy II
Underrated game.
Re: Dragon Warrior
Just four more votes to enter the NES top 50!!!
Re: Mega Man 4
This game just needs a few more ratings to qualify for one of the top NES games!

More people need to rate this game!

Re: Nintendo Says Mario Will Continue To "Power-Up" As It Begins To Shut Down His Anniversary Celebrations
They shut off Mario Maker uploading early. Couldn't upload my final level!
Re: Surprise, The 3DS Is Getting Another Physical Release This Year
@Tsusasi New SNES games?? Like what?
Re: Talking Point: Are You A 'Complete-In-Box' Or 'Loose Cart' Retro Gamer?
@Zuljaras Agreed. For plastic cases, it's just egregious for it to be missing. And they aren't worth much since so few have been lost.
Re: This Sealed Super Mario Bros. Could Become The Most Expensive Video Game Collectable Ever
Seems like a lot of money.
Re: Soapbox: One Year On, Animal Crossing: New Horizons Is History
I will never be able to separate this game from the beginning of the pandemic. It's almost eerie.
Re: 'Square Enix Presents' Promises News On New Life Is Strange, Tomb Raider, And Balan Wonderworld
I'd like to see Dragon Quest IV through VIII and Final Fantasy I through VI on Switch! And Chrono Trigger.
Re: Feature: The 10 Best SNES RPGs
Mystic Quest over FF II? What madness is this.
Re: Feature: Playing With Power: The Nintendo Story Is A Fun Documentary With Some Critical Flaws
Sounds similar to the High Score docu-series on Netflix. Will be interesting to compare.
Re: Review: Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection - A Masochistic Medieval Marvel
@Fiish It's not on SNES, this is a completely new game!
Re: Mortal Kombat Kollection Online Rated By PEGI, And It's Bringing The "Klassics" To Switch
More than a year later, nothing.
Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The February 2021 Nintendo Direct, Then?
@Zach777 We are but dogs, feasting on table scraps.
Re: The NES Is Getting A New Game That's All About Putting Out Fires
Will they also sell the ROM as was done with Micro Mages (which is fantastic)?
Re: Nintendo World Cup
@Bass_X0 Ten years later it was, in the Kunio-Kun Switch collection.
Re: 33 Years Later, Japanese Famicom RPG Hoshi wo Miru Hito Is Being Rereleased On Switch
This was a lie. They didn't release it in the West. https://city-connection.co.jp/hoshiwomiruhito/en/
Re: Nintendo Tasks Super Mario Bros. 35 Players With Defeating 3.5 Million Bowsers
This will be difficult since 75% of the levels people choose are 1-1 and 1-2.

This review is slightly misleading: Galaxian, Mappy, Dig Dug, and Tower of Druaga were all Famicom games, never released on the NES (same as Dragon Buster and Splatterhouse, which it correctly identifies as Famicom games). Re: Take A Look At This Neat Visualisation Of Nintendo's Console Sales
This doesn't go back even close to 31 years. Lame without NES and SNES.
Re: Review: Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light - We've Come A Long Way In 30 Years
Okay, but now do a retro review of the Famicom version!
Re: Tetris
They should really write a retro review of this, especially with the popularity of the Tetris Classic World Championship every year!
Re: Super Mario Maker 2 Version 3.0.1 Is Now Available, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
Still waiting for the SMB 2 style.
