The fact that people still think the Steam version is bad, even after they patched it all up nice, shows why companies should be more careful not to release games in an unfinished state with the philosophy of "we'll just patch it later." The initial bad press gets solidified online.

@dartmonkey Could we get the SNES games Space Megaforce (aka Super Aleste) and Tecmo Super Bowl added to the database. The NES version of Tecmo Super Bowl is there, but not the SNES version.

FF I is way too easy in this version, but FF II is great here, and it remains the only instance of it on an American Nintendo system. Worth it alone for FF II.

Given the large number of video game makers that have been making games since the 70's, it would be nigh impossible for a console manufacturer to get licensing agreements for all of them.

As a backer, I'm disappointed. (Granted, making $300k in sales on their IP is not something companies generally permit...) I'd like to believe Nintendo would be interested in licensing it, but I know that is wishful thinking. Sigh. Nintendo doesn't make anything even remotely comparable to these guides.

A few more popular games absent from the NL database are IronSword: Wizards & Warriors II, Cobra Triangle, Qix, and Legendary Wings!

It's been 14 years since this review was written and it's questionable. The game is clearly better than 3 out of 10. This was written during the heyday of people on the internet suddenly claiming it was bad and too hard.

Software piracy is illegal in this country and always will be. Make too much money doing it and you'll pay the price, $2 million in this case.

Nowadays many companies, including Nintendo, Square Enix, Namco, Konami, and Capcom, re-issue many of their popular old games. But the makers of video games are under no obligation, either ethical or legal, to re-issue their old games according to anyone else's time-line or wishes. The video game industry has always been for profit. Indeed, those old game cartridges are still widely available on the secondary market, and in most cases for less than they originally cost. I went to a local retro video game store that sells them. It's a fun hobby and I'd strongly recommend it over downloading ROMs from pirates.

A fun game but I'd still like to see Mario 35 return.

The price is ludicrously high because it was bought by a very wealthy person engaged in artificial speculation. This is enabled by the novel practice of grading sealed games. The companies that host the auctions and grade the games are making money off this. It's all absurd and has nothing to do with the value of cartridges or non-sealed boxes.

Some of these games with only 25-35 votes have somewhat inflated scores, IMO. If not for them, Dragon Warrior III and Metroid would be in the top 21. Also, @ziondood cheated by including Castlevania, which is actually #25!

I often rented this as a kid and always enjoyed it. Looking forward to trying it again! I'd forgotten about it completely.
