Re: Review: Rocket League (Switch eShop)

BravelyDavid

@thesilverbrick I have been going back and forth about this since tuesday when it released, I have Doom and love the multiplayer and am getting Skyrim tonight so I have enough content to play, but this would be a great game to play with friends and to have the ability to play without having to change cartridge is nice. Decisions, Decisions

Re: Review: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Switch)

BravelyDavid

@Fight_Teza_Fight I have no doubt the Switch version will absolutely destroy the PSVR version, the PRE PURCHASE has been in the Switch best sellers for over a week now. Skyrim on switch is going to sell more than it sold on XBO and PS4, its basically the next Zelda for everyone

Re: RiME Devs Explain The Difficulty Of Porting The Game To Switch

BravelyDavid

Now knowing the switch version is probably the most stripped down and awful port the switch has seen to date I can say that No, I definitely will not be picking up Rime, ever. Looked cool though, back near launch it was a game I though I would for sure get. Now its horrible port of a mediocre game that came out smack dab in the middle of Doom, L.A. Noire, and Skyrim. Who is actually going to buy this?

Re: Out Today: L.A. Noire and Rocket League Lead the Way in Fresh Switch eShop Releases

BravelyDavid

@tsdenizen Everything you said is correct and I understand some of the issues with bringing switch games to retail and then having to put a digital price on it as well. Countless other examples have shown that it is not as simple as everyone wants it to be, but there is no way you do not work for Nicalis or developed Ittle Dew 2+ you are defending the game so hard and I feel its kind of obvious. Again though I agree with you, the game is probably appropriately priced because you are a business, you need to make money, if they game was priced cheaper you wouldn't make the profit margins you need to make to continue to publish/develop games.

Edit: Also Stardew Valley doesn't have a physical release so they didn't have to deal with that and they probably knew the game was going to be ridiculously popular on Nintendo's platform especially if they priced it at $15, now it has been top 3 best seller for weeks

Re: Review: Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon (3DS)

BravelyDavid

I don't doubt these are good Pokemon games, but as you said in the conclusion these do feel like they came out maybe a year too early, but the 3DS doesn't have too much time left so they had to push it out now before this holiday season to maximize the sales on these. They won't come close to Sun/Moon though because most 3DS owners who played SM last year (and possibly got a switch) will probably pass even with high review scores

Re: Sonic Forces on Switch Has Solid UK Launch as DOOM Moves Up the Charts

BravelyDavid

Yes the Doom numbers aren't out of this world, but this is UK only, How about the USA and Japan numbers, and the eShop so there is very little you can extrapolate these numbers other than people aren't really buying physical too much in the UK. I am sure Doom is selling well in the USA. Also the pre-purchase for Skyrim has been in the best selling category for a little bit now so I think that will sell really well especially because of the BOTW tie ins

Re: Video: L.A. Noire for Nintendo Switch Gets a Smart New Trailer

BravelyDavid

@Randomlight you do realize Doom has a huge extra download as well (not to mention it will need a patch to fix some audio and frame rate issues eventually)? Required downloads will be a thing moving forward especially if we continue to get more 3rd party games. I am realizing now the switch is set up for people to be using MULTIPLE microSD cards for expanded space. Even if you buy physical these days downloads are required like 97% of the time for patches and updates. We live in an internet connected society and that is not going to change any time soon. I collect the physical games for switch, but I know that I need expanded storage and room for downloads in 2017 and into the future. I won't blame the publisher from only using a 8 or 16 gb cart because from what i have read it is the same price for a 50gb Blu Ray and an 8gb switch cart. When it comes to business they are not going to spend extra money for a game that might not even sell as well as other platforms. It's just unfortunate that switch carts are so expensive, but they will get cheaper over time so hopefully some of these issues will be alleviated in the future.

Re: New Fire Emblem Warriors Update Basically Turns The Game Into Ghouls 'n Ghosts

BravelyDavid

I picked this up and played through a few missions, but right now I'm just not feeling a warriors game. I like the genre and loved hyrule warriors, but lately I have been playing Mario Odyssey and just got 100% on my Metroid Samus Returns playthrough. Then on Friday I am getting Doom and next week is LA Noire and Skyrim so I don't know when I will pick this up again.

Re: Super Mario Odyssey Is The Best Rated Game Of All Time

BravelyDavid

@JamesR While I agree and think the Switch has had a good library of content since August, Once Doom, Skyrim, LA Noire, Resident Evil Rev 1/2, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 are out there will truly be no argument. Shooters, Platformers, RPGS, Fighters, MUSOUs, Nintendo IPs will all be well represented by end of year.

Re: Talking Point: An Era Ends As Nintendo Continues to Ignore 3D on the 3DS

BravelyDavid

Mario 3D land was really the only title that truly used the 3D effect the way it was intended. I could only use if for maybe a minute or two before I started to have a headache so it doesn't affect me too much, but I always thought it was a cool feature and would try it out in games that offered it. I just couldn't play with it on for too long.

Re: DOOM Confirmed for Nintendo Switch Launch on 10th November

BravelyDavid

Shocked it is coming out before skyrim. I will be buying 3 new games for the switch in 7 Days

  • Doom - November 10
  • L.A. Noire - November 14
  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - November 17

What a week, all before black friday too, smart launch dates. I have all reserved, but I really thought Doom would be December

Re: The Big NBA 2K18 Patch For Switch Is Finally Here

BravelyDavid

I got both NBA 2K18 and FIFA 18 in the hope for releases next year and possibly a portable Madden. Honestly both play fine when you are in game and outside of some features missing (No online play with friends being most notable) these are very solid ports of their XBO/PS4 counterparts. If you expected the same exact game well then you expected a little much, but if you are like me and just like playing exhibitions with friends and messing around in season mode, these games are great and have served me well. I haven't played a FIFA since FIFA World Cup 06 on Gamecube or a NBA 2K since 2K13 on Xbox 360 and I am ejoying both of these very much so. Don't let bad review scores deter you if you are just looking for a solid basketball and soccer simulation.

Re: Review: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions (3DS)

BravelyDavid

Pokemon Sun/Moon and soon to be Ultra Sun/Moon, Mario Maker, Dragon Quest VIII, Hey Pikmin, and Mario & Luigi all don't have 3D visuals, some of the comments here lead me to believe that it is recent news that Nintendo gave up on 3D. They havent given up on the platform just yet though, hence New 2DS XL

Re: The Nintendo Creators Program Now Rules Out Live Streaming on YouTube

BravelyDavid

This is just dissapointing and reaffirms my disdain for any Nintendo Corporate/Business related decisions. I have spent money on games I normally wouldn't buy because I thuoght it looked cool from a livestream. At least in my opinion the youtubers experiences and reactions are the original content that warrent livestreaming, but obviously Nintendo doesn't want anyone saaying anything bad about their games

Re: Rumour: Source Who Leaked L.A. Noire Switch Port Drops Hint That Grand Theft Auto V Is Next

BravelyDavid

Just my opinion, but I think getting GTA V on Nintendo Switch would be the biggest release the system has got to date, bigger than zelda and mario oddysey. GTA V still sells unbelievably well, years after release they are still in the top ten every week which is absolutely insane. Imagine if they get it on a portable device and the exclusive portable home for GTA? People would buy switches in droves just to get that game on the go, I think it would sell millions no doubt. People from PS4 and XBO would buy a switch just for that game. Nintendo IP's are pretty popular, but GTA, in my opinion, is the biggest and most popular game series ever, basically since San Andreas hit GTA has been a cultural icon on the same level as Mario. Sales figures don't lie.

Re: Chicken Wiggle Gets a Discount and Shiny New Trailer

BravelyDavid

Should have brought it to switch. Yea, 3DS has a decent install base, but the Switch is hot right now and people are spending more on Switch indies than all other platforms, so if I was an indie developer I would do anything I can to get on the Switch. I really don't see it losing momentum until maybe next summer.

Re: Doom Will Bring Hell to Switch This Holiday Season

BravelyDavid

I'll admit not too long after the switch released I made a list of basically all modern "AAA" titles from the past 2-3 years that I believed would not come to the switch because they couldn't run on the system. Doom and Wolfenstein 2 were on that list. I can happily say Nintendo proved me wrong and I have never been more excited to be a switch owner. Getting Doom and Skyrim Day 1, Seeing skyrim in the debut trailer was a big thing that sold me on the switch and the posiblity of getting other bethesda titles on the system. I still cannot believe that it's coming true.

Re: Weirdness: People Just Can't Stop Talking About Mario's Nipples

BravelyDavid

Not gunna lie, the instant I saw Mario running without a shirt on (Which was a brief 2-5 seconds if I recall correctly) I immidiately was like "wait, we've never seen mario without a shirt on" The game looks amazing but at no other point during the trailer was my mind so focused on a small detail. I guess I wasn't the only one who felt like this too.

Re: Weirdness: People Just Can't Stop Talking About Mario's Nipples

BravelyDavid

@rjejr I am not positive, but I think this will require you to go on the eshop and download it. In the past Nintendo has offered 2DS' with Mario Kart 7 "pre installed", I believe the Pokemon New 3DS America got also had Pokemon Red/Blue pre installed. I don't believe I have seen that on Switch as the Splatoon 2 bundle listed it as a full game download as well.

Re: Fire Emblem Warriors Adds A Significant Character From The Past

BravelyDavid

Fire Emblem is my favorite Nintendo franchise.
Fire Emblem on the GBA was my first FE and to this day is still my favorite FE.
Lyn (And Hector) are my favorite all time characters.
I literally started crying tears of joy when they showed the reveal of Lyn, I thought all of us older fans were going to be straight out of luck when it came to this game, but I am happy to be proven wrong.
Heres to hoping Hector is DLC!!!!!!!

Re: Review: Metroid: Samus Returns (3DS)

BravelyDavid

@FX102A Extra Metroid Amiibos? Like the new ones? I wasn't able to snag a preorder and would pay more than retail to get them. I was going to go out on launch day and search every store, but if you have extra and would be willing to sell, I'd buy.

Re: L.A. Noire Is The Latest Game To Fall Foul Of The Dreaded "Switch Tax"

BravelyDavid

@Tibob Having worked at a Toys R Us many younger gamers have next to no clue about what games are what other than what their friends have. So yea I would say the era of uninformed gamers is still alive and well. I mean they sold 60 million PS4s, I'd bet 40% of those PS4s were purchased just because it was a new system and they wanted to play maybe one specific game. People who follow gaming news and keep up with everything probably make up somewhere in the neighborhood of 15% of all gamers.
