Re: As Switch Approaches The PS2's Lifetime Sales, Sony Moves The Goalposts

Arcata

@Ralizah I dont get why this guy is so defensive for the ps2. No one here says its a bad platform. I had a ps1 and ps2 and man they are great systems with great games. All we are pointing out is a portion of its success was it being a very popular Device for dvd playback for alot of non gamers.

I love the Wii. If this guy pointed out that alot of Wiis were used by people as a dedicated Netflix machine back in the day I wont get all mad and say "Eeerrmmm no it wasent! it was more expensive than most netflix machines back then so dats wrong!" lmfao no I wouldnt say that

"Its effects are still felt today. Go and compare the Switch Pro controller with Dual Analog PS1 controller vs ANY Nintendo controller and see which one it most matches. Yeah exactly."

Sony only came out with the dual shock after Nintendo came out with the Analogue stick on the Sega Saturn And Nintendo had it on the n64 before sony had the dualshock. So Sega invented the wheel but sonys better for making 2 of them? ok xD

Also look at the sony Controllers they are just rip offs of the Super Nintendo Controller. You have a dpad on the dualshock created by Nintendo not Sony You have the Face buttons that are copied straight from the super Nintendo layout. and you have shoulder buttons which I believe Sega came out with first or Nintendo but either way it was not sony. And of course the analogue stick which ps did not have til after the n64. So yes most of the controllers we use today we have to think Nintendo and Sega for not sony. But yes Give them brony points for Taking the analogue stick from Sega/ Nintendo and putting 2 instead of one xD

@kedireturns "So per you, if PS2 is a DVD player, Then Switch is an Android tablet."

yes because there are millions of people using the Switch to Run android apps just like there were millions of people who used the ps2 as a dvd player? lmfao also Switch is not android its linux (I know android is based off linux but The switch is purely a modified Linux machine Just like most video game console os besides xbox.)

"dont forget it also required Nintendo to have COVID + PlayStation chip shortage for 2 years"

So did Nintendo and Microsoft and legit every single tech company, even cars and car dealers had inventory they could not sell because the chips for the internals of cars were not installed because they had not arrived, It was a world wide issue in virtually every market Idk how you limit it to just this market and Only Sony was going through it but ok?

Re: As Switch Approaches The PS2's Lifetime Sales, Sony Moves The Goalposts

Arcata

@kedireturns Yes the xbox had a dvd player but you had to find a scarcly produced xbox specific remote to enable the dvd player functionality in the original xbox. otherwise you could not enable it. The PS2 did not need a dvd remote to enable dvd playback.

A giant portion of the PS2 install base had no games but used it as a dvd player because of its cheap launch price being competitive to other dvd players.

Re: Splatoon's Final Wii U Stage Rotations Have Been Revealed

Arcata

The Wii U got me through highschool which was the toughest part of my life I lost many friends then to drug overdoses and just everything in life back in like 2013 to 2016 was so bad. I remember one time my gf at the time that I broke up with was spreading very bad claims about me in an attempt to ruin my life and my home life with my dad was getting very violatile. I remember strategizing how I would end my life and planning it out but then I remember I had my pet cat at home to look forward to, my best friend who I could still count on and all the fun games on Wii U to play. Wii U legit got me through the worst part of my life and I know this sounds pathetic but the damn Wii U might have actually saved my life because it gave me like one thing to look forward to every time I got home after school.

When most people talk about the Wii U they laugh about the failed console or just say "The Wii U walked so the switch could Run"

For me the story with this system is far different thats why it will always be my favorite console of all time.

Fast forward to now and I love life and everything is going great. After highschool, College went the exact opposite My life went from miserable to fantastic.

Sayonara Wii U. You might just technically be a Piece of plastic with electronics inside manufactured in millions of quantity by a Giant Corporation but.. I love you Thanks for making my life bearable at my lowest point of my life.

Re: As Switch Approaches The PS2's Lifetime Sales, Sony Moves The Goalposts

Arcata

It doesent matter anyways but back then I had a Gamecube and a ps2. (no xbox sadly I didint know xbox existed til I got the 360 which I loved!) Most people I saw get a ps2 were not even gamers they just wanted a PS2 because it was a cheap dvd player. If we knew the data of people who even played games on the ps2 it would probably be 80 million.

I guess you could say the same thing about the Wii with netflix but that was not nearly as common as ps2 as dvd players.

Re: Mini Review: Krimson (Switch) - A Face-Meltingly Brutal Rhythm Platformer

Arcata

HAHAHA OMFG I played this at pax East last year and I had no idea it was a rythym game because the area was so damn loud that I could not hear any music from the display it was on THIS MAKE SO MUCH SENSE I had no idea it was a rythym game so I played it for like 10 minutes and left saying "that game doesent make sense" LMFAO Thanks for this review I might not write it off now. No one at the booth told me it was a rythym game I thought it was just some weird janky platformer

Re: Talking Point: Should We Be Expecting More From Remakes And Remasters?

Arcata

Tbh what I would honestly like for Nintendo to do in the twilight years of the switch instead of Remakes/remasters would maybe have a couple small team of devs currently not working on the next gen switch games focus on creating lil bite sized games like Part time ufo. That game had so much charm and it reminded me of the dsi/ wii era of those tiny nintendo games that were basically indie games but from the big N there so charming and so fun and unique. Part time ufo is such a cool lil game I love it so much.

Re: Soapbox: 30 Years Later, Super Metroid's Foreboding Atmosphere Is Still Unmatched

Arcata

This is actually funny timing for me. I just started playing through this game on switch online due to Metroid Prime being probably my favorite game of all time. I will say I do think I definitely prefer 3d Prime style metroid more than 2d (Although I think both are fantastic and im about to play through all 2d Metroids) Super Metroid is a game I just get lost into. I mean I legit forgot that im a living being and I start to think I am samus on the screen and Im alone on this alien planet. My favorite games are ones that make me feel like im alone and isolated on an alien planet, The atmosphere is superb and the best kind of things I look for in games. The only metroid game I ever beat was Metroid prime but I am starting my mission to plow through the whole series. I am beginning to think Metroid is my new favorite series of all time due to that isolationist feeling it gives you. To me Iv never been more immersed in a series.

I have about 6 energy banks I just recently got the xray vision upgrade. This game gets hard at times (mainly the wall jumping I find super difficult at times but I just spam it til I get it right) but also of course forgetting to check that one lil bomb crevice or whatever hiding in a corner that holds the secret to advancing to the next area that iv been searching for, for like half an hour. At first these things were super annoying and I wanted to quit but as I keep pushing myself The constant backtracking is actually just part of the experience and im all for it.

Good god I love the Metroid series. It really is my favorite of all time now I do believe.

Re: Rumour: New Report From Nikkei Corroborates 'Switch 2' Delay Into 2025

Arcata

I honestly think Nintendo is doing this to make sure the current switch Takes the crown from the Ps2 as the best selling console of all time. Which it will take.

but if this is true it does not bother me because I rather the system be delayed and more baked in the oven than come out less perfect.

I have enough games to hold me over another year lol

Re: New And Improved Nitro Deck+ Announced For Switch, Pre-Orders Live

Arcata

This is cool but the first nitro deck is so good I dont really need to get a new one. Besides we got less than a year left before we all move to the switch 2 and leave the switch behind so theres no need. This is cool though if anybody does not have a nitro deck for their switch its a MUST BUY so you might as well buy this one.

For me the nitro deck fixed not just joycon drift but also the issue of my rails failing with the joycons so they kept getting disconnected (rails on the system not the joycons) also it fixed the joycons feeling super wobbily in handheld mode like there not perfectly connected to the switch

I just hope we dont need a nitro deck for switch 2. Hopefully whatever joycon type thing the switch 2 has is not as horrible as the current joycons.

Re: Best Donkey Kong Games Of All Time

Arcata

@ManaOwls Tropical Freeze is such a fantastic game. The levels, the level design, The difficulty (it gets pretty dang hard but thats a very good thing for me it keeps me passionate about beating the game) and the music especially the Rocket Barrel stages omfg that Orchestra fast paced big band jazz that keeps getting more and more epic legit gives me goosebumps and the hair on my arms raise up. Just a fantastic game Iv been replaying it for the first time since I beat it on Wii U in like 2015 and just wow I need to replay this game atleast once a year. Its spectacular.
