Remember FAST Racing Neo? You'd be forgiven for forgetting about it, as Shin'en has been rather reluctant to release much information about the racing extravaganza. The sequel to the popular Wiiware hit, FAST- Racing League, it promises to deliver a blisteringly fast experience in glorious 60 FPS and, of course, HD. Bearing more than a passing resemblance with a certain other futuristic racing series that has gone mostly dormant, the FAST series can be seen as carrying the torch that has apparently been laid down. So, when will we get to see it in action again? Not long, according to a lead man at Shin'en.
In a brief exchange with fellow gaming news site, HDWarriors, Manfred Linzner confirmed that work is progressing smoothly on the anticipated release and that fans will see the results of this meticulous progress very soon. Here's the quote:
Development is going very smooth. FAST Racing Neo is the biggest, and most beautiful game we ever did, and we're taking the time to make sure that it's also the best one. This Summer, people will have seen the game in motion.
So, there you have it, expect to see the game "in motion" in the near future. Perhaps if we're lucky, development is nearly finished and a demo will be made available on the eShop. We can only dream.

Shinen has the habit to make beautiful, fun and reasonably priced games, I'm confident about this one.
This sounds promising due to the recent turn of events:
November - Mute City, Captain Falcon Mii racing suit and the Blue Falcon in MK8
April - Big Blue and 200cc in MK8
Summer - New Fast Racing Neo info
While Nintendo's more than likely trolling the F-Zero fans with the MK8 DLC, it could have a very positive side effect of getting attention to Fast Racing Neo.
I wish it would have GamePad multiplayer.
Shin'en is certainly a likeable developer, and a very capable one too. However, aside from technical aspects and an overall feel of polish, none (of the rather numerous) Shin'en games I've played throughout the past generations truly satisfied me. There was something lacking, and this wasn't just originality (and even the great graphics had the problem of being bland from an artistic perspective). Sometimes the gameplay lacked depth (Nano Assault Neo). So I'm not really that excited about FAST Racing Neo. Admittedly, I never fully played the original, but that was because I found the demo to be a bore. It lacked what F-Zero or WipEout have: personality. Still, I will give the new game a chance, and I guess we can expect another demo anyway. 60fps are nice, I wonder if Shin'en may hit 1080p (but I assume they ain't trying). What's more important: Will there be a creative and/or useful usage of the Gamepad's second screen? If not, no buy.
Considering Nano Assault recently released on PS4, I wouldn't be surprised if they're taking so long so they can release FAST on Wii U and PS4 simultaneously.
Shin'En is just 3 people, at least as far as I remember, so no wonder it takes time for them to release anything. With Nano Assault done for PS4 they can focus on FAST, though as @Mandalore said, it wouldn't be surprising if the game got released on both platforms at the same time.
@Mandalore I've had that same fear for a while now! It would make 'economic' sence for them but I hate to wait for a game so other don't have to so I'm trying not to dwell on that one. Overall the wait for this has been long and lacking in info....as others have said before, the hype machine is half running already without them doing anything so it worries me they are not promoting the game to enhance this more. This usually indicates problems but hopefully not in this case !?!
The wait is killing me, but then I remember I have been waiting for a new home console F-Zero since 2003... so I think I can handle it.
@Mandalore they denied it somewhere, but I am pretty sure it will be the case.
Which would be shame as I want a couple of specialized developers in each platform for trying to get the most out of it, and there has rarely, if ever, been a system, where there would be so much to explore as Wii U. If this came to PS4, we can be sure, that they are not going to use GamePad in any way and you should just get the PS4 version.
Well tis about time!
I really want this to basically be the next F-Zero but the couple of gimmicks in the last game kinda spoiled what could otherwise have been just a really great future racing game for me (well, more the specific way they were executed rather than the idea in principle), so it will be interesting to see if they've tweaked that stuff enough in this new game that it actually adds to the experience and enjoyment rather than detract from it as I see it...
OR, it would be perfect if there was an option to turn off the black and white specific orb collecting stuff (it would also look better with blue and pink orbs anyway imo) so you didn't have to worry about that stuff when it came to switching modes to match the various black and white sections on the courses and also because the floating orbs around the track just kinda made it look a bit cheep and 'gamey" imo ("gamey" as in the orbs didn't look like a proper 'thing' that could/would exist in the world so they stuck out as just some generic looking game mechanic effect thing stuck on top of an otherwise aesthetically well realised racing concept).
In fact, just take out or give the option to turn off (completely visually remove) all the stuff to do with that gamey looking black and white mechanic and the game would be aesthetically spot-on without any fake looking gamey elements to detract from the experience imo. I'm sure you could even design the specific colour-switch parts of the track in such a way that didn't look so silly, like daft floating liquid metal pools, if they need to remain on the tracks. But just get rid of the floating orbs. They ain't necessary. Remembering/noticing to change colour is challenge enough without having to steer into stupid looking floating orbs, which just detracts from the game being about looking for the perfect driving line and becomes more about just making sure you are roughly in line with some floating stuff. I think that's why the game ultimately felt a bit lacking to me because it really just made it feel more like some slightly meh rhythm game (line up with the oncoming orbs and switch colour at the correct moments) with a future-racer skin than a game I could actually play like a proper future racer (which is what I was ultimately after at the end of the day).
Seeing as we are unlikely to get a new F-Zero hopefully this will be an excellent replacement and knowing Shinen's track record there is a pretty good chance of that happening!
Known this for a while now, but nice that they're feeling sure enough to tell gaming journalists about it.
This game should be great! Maybe an E3 reveal? Because it is most certainly worth one.
Also Didn't this game say it was going to have online? I mean if Art of Balance did surely this game can.
This has taken too long. I agree that it must have been delayed because WiiU sales weren't sufficient, and a cross platform release is certain.
Wow a memo about impending footage. That's definitely needed.
I would've loved too have played this on the New 3DS XL. :/
Oh this game still not out yet? Dang
Yes! I've been waiting for more news. Bring it on!
Nintendo, if you are reading, make these guys handle the next Fzero please, for WiiU!
@Hero-of-WiiU - E3 seems likely.
The title seems a bit erroneous - "Footage is Set to be Revealed in Summer" - when the actual comment is past tense (or future past perfect tense, one of those oddly named ones) - "This Summer, people will have seen the game in motion." If they where showing it in summer he would have simply said "This summer, people will SEE the game in motion." SEE, not "have seen". And since E3 is about 5 days before summer in the northern hemisphere it makes perfect sense that he would word it that way to kind of make it an E3 secret. .
PC, PS4 and XBOne will get Formula Fusion from R8 , the members made the wipeout-series,

For me the title has more potential. Fast Racing Neo could be WII U exclusive.
I don't care if it comes to PS4 at the same time as Wii U, I'll get it when it releases. The first game was a blast and no matter what Sony fanboys try to say, this game makes sense on Wii U. Not because it has a higher potential to sell better, but because it's F-Zero inspired.
@MussakkuLaden I agree with your point on satisfaction. None of Shinen's games have given me a proper sense of satisfaction. The presentation in their games is always nice though nothing extraordinary. Nano Assault EX for example, is a functional game, it has plenty of modes and objectives, but it often feels bland to me. I've played the FAST demo and that game feels alright though never bought the game. This really is a curious thing when it comes to this developer for me. Nevertheless excited to see what they've come up with this time.
I honestly don't see this game coming out before Q4 2016 at the very earliest.
@MussakkuLaden
Idk if you ever played Art of Balance, but it's way better than Nano Assault Neo. I also liked FAST Racing League. The controls weren't perfect like F-Zero (no futuristic racer has ever nailed the controls of F-Zero) but it was a solid game. And the personality, to me, came from the color pads matching your ship's color. You go faster in a matching color, but slow down in the opposite color (somewhat reminiscent of Ikaruga mechanics).
@Dezzy Very true! Usually, I'd agree, but I figured it was worth mentioning since we haven't heard anything on this in quite a while.
i played the wiiware demo and loved it. look forward to this.
Just... waiting...
