Here's How PlayStation Boss Shuhei Yoshida Lovingly Trolled Nintendo

Posted by Orla Madden

Subtle yet effective

President of Sony's Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, has recently treated himself to a Wii U. That's right, Yoshida (@yosp as he's known on Twitter), posted his Nintendo Network ID to his followers earlier this week in the hope of discussing his experience with fellow Wii U users.

However, in a cheeky and light-hearted attempt at trolling Nintendo, he posted the picture below in the Nintendo Land Community discussion forum in the Miiverse.

It's a rather gentle trolling, but a trolling all the same.

This is how the console war should be done. Trolling using the others hardware. Just like the Genesis/SNES days...

Big smile on his face as he's jumping through nsmbu, then suddenly he starts to cry because he knows it's just too good to replicate.

If he wrote " I love PS and hate Nintendo", the fanboy posts in this thread might be understandable.
Like this, many here sound one track minded and more immature than he is.
Competition in industry is the way customers get to choose, you knew that?

Nice to see him joining in the fun and just playing along, makes a refreshing change from the usual "pretending competitor's stuff is rubbish/doesn't exist".

Note also how he didn't resort to badmouthing the competition. Let's not let the side down here with fanboy nonsense.

The only reason Iwata didn't troll Home is because nobody would've seen it.

This amuses me. I just had a thought, wouldn't it be epic (Yes I know it would never happen) if Sony and Nintendo made a lighthearted video where Kevin Butler and Reggie agrued.

This makes me want to buy their next console and do the same thing(but obviously with Nintendo).

This is funny and how it should be; he obviously wants his brand to do better than the rivals and prefers it, but still shows that you can have some good fun on the competition's side. XD

And it only cost him $350 to do this, all of which went into Nintendo's pockets. Brilliant!

Seriously though, this is harmless. The fact that he was willing to purchase a Wii U at all is admirable in that he's open to playing others games. Also, he'll know, on a more personal level, what his competition is doing.

@Applejacklove - He did buy a Wii U. There was an article on here a few days ago talking about it. It shows that even though Sony and Nintendo are competitors, they can still be respectful and enjoy the other's products.

Can't wait until next E3 when we get to hear all about Sony's original idea of their new Playverse as well as their optional touchscreen accessory for the PS3, and Microsoft's plans for a new console which links up with the Surface Pro (MSRP $800) to provide those casual gamers everything they want to play for a mere $3000 or so.

Trolling is a bad way to describe it. To troll you need to intentionally want to provoke some sort of negative emotional response from the reader, usually anger. He's just trying to be funny. The term has become this kind of blanket statement. Even a slightly sassy and humorous comment is coined as a trollish statement. Trolling has less to do with content and more to do with intent. Being sassy isn't trolling. Being controversial isn't trolling. Saying you like a product on a competitor's board also isn't trolling in itself. You can't lovingly troll someone because trolling is about the sadistic pleasure of getting people angry/depressed over nothing. You either troll them or not.

Anyways, I guess it's kind of cute. Pointless, but cute.

Kinds puts all the rediculous fanboy nonsense of the last gen in to perspective. I'm hoping it's gone by the time all the next gen consoles are available. Though I doubt it will.

And it would not surprise me one bit if Myamoto or Iwata owned a personal PS3 or Xbox 360. Gotta know what the competition is up to.

Then he steals the Miiverse idea and puts it into the PS4, and Miyamoto writes 'I love Wii U' on that
