Re: Guide: Getting Started With My Nintendo

soma

Question

Are you sure the minimum for getting Gold points is $5? I found somewhere else it is $5.99

This would mean Nes games won't give points.

I live in Mexico and the minimun price was like 90 pesos, and if I remember correctly Nes games cost 60 pesos.

Another question

If I buy from the Wii shop on the WiiU it won't count right?

Thanks

Wait a minute!

I just noticed that to earn Gold Coins you need to purchase a game between "x-y" price.... but Nes and Snes Virtual Console games are cheaper than that...

So even if I buy 2, 3 or more I won't get any reward? That sucks if true!

Edit: OK, forget about Snes games, I think those give points, but still not sure about Nes games. I think is the same in the USA

It was an amazing game, ahead of its time. Never beat it, the farthest I got was level 11 I think, the one where you were riding on some kind of bike being chased by a ball, with arrows on the floor.

Love the game, I'll play it soon now that my Nes is working again =D

Re: Review: Pokémon Picross (3DS eShop)

Still undecided about this one, I got it and been playing it and is very fun, but I'm out of Pictrites and can't advance anymore. Is too expensive the 4,000 offer but I don't want to wait for several months to be able to advance the next level....

Re: Review: Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos (Wii U eShop / NES)

Great game although I prefer the first one. In terms of difficulty compared to Castlevania games, this one is definitely the easiest.

I see I'm in the minority but I think Castlevania 3 is more difficult than the first Castlevania, which I don't remember being too frustrating except for that floor before Death battle.

The first Ninja Gaiden is very difficult and frustrating but I played it a lot as a kid that even today I remember most of it and constantly beat it in less than 30 minutes.... but it took me days, if not months to gain those skills.

CV3 on the other hand, played it for the first time on WiiVC and was able to beat it in a few days.... but it certainly was very difficult and frustrating so I say:

NG = CV3 > CV1 > NG2

Really liking the demo, I'm enjoying this more than Etrian Odyssey which I found a bit boring.
This one I'm really liking although it's starting to feel a bit repetitive.

Yeah! Finally I'll have Konami Crazy Racers! Also interested in Metroid Fusion and 3D Outrun. Probably Child of Light or others from the WiiU eshop. There's also a discount of AVN and Crimson Shroud... my wallet is crying

Re: Poll: Nintendo's Free-to-Play Experiments - Are You Still Playing?

Never played Rumble but Shuffle is an excellent game. I've put like 300 hrs on it that I feel a bit guilty of not paying anything. It's very addictive although it becomes tiring to keep grinding for coins.

Badge Arcade is kinda fun, but I'm getting tired of the long loading times just to have one real try.

Rusty's Deal is fun too, but I wouldn't call it free to play, because there's no way to play it unless you pay for it =p

Re: The NES Joins The High Definition Era With This Awesome HDMI Mod

Indeed I tested this last night to decide if I'll transfer my games or not, bought Castlevania III and Punch Out and made a comparison on Wii VC, WiiU VC and WiiU Wii mode.

The result, Wii and WiiU Wii mode looked almost the same to me, maybe a tiny bit brighter on the latter and a slightly color difference, but almost the same really.

On WiiU however, it definitely looked blurrier, less pixelated and darker. It wasn't as bad as I would imagine except that color fidelity is not the same. For example, because of the darker background the mermaid monsters in Castlevania or the candles looked more red, the zombie things a bit more purple instead of blue... things like that. And worse is I had to reset the game because the sound suddenly disappeared.

So in conclusion, Wii VC = WiiU Wii mode > Wii U VC

Re: Feature: Reflecting On Three Years With The Wii U - Part One

soma

Well, I just bought a WiiU and I hope I don't regret it with NX around the corner. I'm interested in some of it's games, specially some VC games that were never available on Wii.

However, I don't like the idea of transferring my Wii VC games for a couple of reasons: my Wii would become useless except to play GC games.... have to go to Wii mode to play them.... no GC controller support to play N64 games etc.

Still undecided to do the transfer or not, but other than that I really want to play some of its games specially the new Zelda next year.

Just bought it..... fantastic game! Why I waited so long to get it!

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Wii U eShop / N64)

Still a 10 for me. It´s not just nostalgia, I think the game has a perfect balance and a special charm compared to later Zeldas.
The game is not too short nor too long, it has a good difficulty, great music, nice art design, good story... it has everything!

I compare it to Wind Waker and although I liked it, WW was extremely easy and sailing was a bit boring. Twilight Princess had a very slooooww start, the art design was horrible, music forgettable and the game was just too long for it's own good, not to mention it was as easy as Wind Waker.

Skyward Sword had some good ideas, great graphics and some memorable music, but some design choices, weird characters and hand holding were for the worst to me.

Just played this game, I really liked it. It's short but kept me very entertained to the end. I recommend it.

Re: Don't Seethe Too Much Over Xbox One Shovel Knight Getting Battletoads, We Might Get A Cool Crossover, Too

soma

If not for the limited continues I would consider Battletoads to be easier than Ninja Gaiden. With only 5 continues the game was near impossible, it took me a lot of time to get past level 9 and once I did I died in level 11. Lost all hope and never tried again

Still one of my favorite games ever, it was a lot of fun and it had a great level design for the time, is a lot more creative than many games this days.

Re: Hardware Classics: Nintendo 64

soma

The controller was near perfect if not that it wore out easily. I've never understood all the complaint about it... three hands? Alien hands? o_O

Want to play with the d-pad then put your left hand at the left, want to play with the control stick then put your left hand in the middle... What was the problem with it?

Re: Nintendo 64x64: ISS 98

soma

@mid_55

Lol! Yeah! Hi-res should be avoided, and I remember liking more the music in ISSS98, but other than that ISS2000 was a better game, with a few new moves (like jumping with the ball), new strategies and fixed some issues of 98, like easily scoring from far away.

All of them were great games and a lot of fun!

Re: Nintendo 64x64: ISS 98

soma

A bit of a waste of space putting this game if there's also ISS64... of course this game is better but ISS2000 is better than this one, so will it be included too?
