Oh yea!!! F**king FANTASTIC news! I cannot wait for this one. Can't wait to see how many characters there will be to unlock. Timesplitters is just such a fun series, super glad to see this.
quick, someone call out @Heavyarms55 and his "first world problem" (to borrow his own phrase of insult) of wanting something to be different than the way it is and having the nerve to say something about it in the comments section. that way he can feel right at home like he's talking to himself.
@Otoemetry
Dude you seriously erased calling me a d*ck in the part under your painted nail pic where you got all pissy saying i was being a d*ck to someone because they disagreed with me, when you obviously didn't even check what I was responding to. I still have the email with your original comment in it. And you can see that in my original comment I am responding to more of what you said that you edited out. And on the other article someone else accused me of editing my comment when they didn't read what I wrote right either. You are a sad pathetic tool, man, and a coward to erase your insults and lie. Total bawbag. There's no hope for you.
@Otoemetry
You didn't challenge my opinion, knob job, because I didn't complain about the price of the amiibo. I have ZERO interest in buying it so I don't care. I've been complaining about people like YOU who try to shut down others who want to voice their grievances about Nintendo's greedy business practices. I see that you deleted half your previous comment when you realized you sounded dumb getting on my case about something you didn't even read right, so you've already embarrassed yourself enough haven't you? I enjoy being challenged on my statements, but only on the statements I actually make, dingus. There are tons of people on here who have actually complained about the price tag. You could've tagged any of them, but you chose me, so I'll just assume you got your tussocks in a tumble because I said something you thought was true but didn't like me calling out Nintendo, because you're likely just some sad fanboy. And I hope someone does give you strength, and maybe some brains, too, because you clearly don't have either. Thanks for reading my comments though, always happy to meet a fan!
and @Mr-Fuggles777, you can justify it all you want, the bottom line is you're going to try to buy something someone might actually want before they can and then sell it to them at a higher price for your own gain. I think that's repulsive and a d-bag thing to do. I see that you think it's okay.
@MatthewTaranto Yes! Terranigma. Great call. There are copies on ebay that some people have made. I'm going to get one soon. They're not the authentic copies, but they work just the same.
@Otoemetry
Uh, no, I'm being that way to a guy who shamelessly boasts about how he'll just scalp it for a higher price now that its original price point is higher. Maybe you might actually want to read the comment I'm addressing before you barf out a response. I have no problem with someone disagreeing with me, and I have no intention of buying this amiibo so I'm not personally concerned with the price. Did you even bother seeing what I was responding to? Or is that too much work with your panties obviously all up in a wad?
@Mr-Fuggles777
yea you're still a repulsive d-bag, d-bag
And here we go with another round of sycophantic fascists telling Nintendo customers to shut up and not voice their opinions about Nintendo's shameless greed and price gouging. Why don't all of you who can't handle other people's opinions start your own site where there are no comments, that way you don't have to trouble yourselves with an awareness that not everybody wants to get buggered constantly by a company that makes stuff they like.
@mudmask oh man, sorry about that. when i hit reply to the guy above me it must have put his name in front of yours as i was typing. my bad. i have changed it around.
@Trikeboy Dude you are sad. I didn't edit my comment, you made an error in reading. Pretty pathetic to cling to it, too, but it really doesn't surprise me on here.
@Trikeboy
Well no offense but how bad are you at reading? I didn't say it was a necessary feature. Read it again, sly. And it doesn't offer an easy mode, it just cuts down on time spent wandering back and forth. That's what a QoL improvement means.
@dew12333
No way, dude (or dudette). I buy the Jakks Nintendo 2.5" line. I love them. And I've wanted figures of the Koopa kids since the day SMB3 came out on NES. Plus I get the Mario Kart hot wheels line. Love those things.
I just think that if you buy a video game you shouldn't have to buy something else to play features of it. What if you had to buy a specific mug to use a certain function on your blender? Would you put up with that? Amiibos on their own are fine, I have a couple myself, but making them necessary for features on a game you bought separately is just another money-licking greedy corporate decision that pisses me off.
@Dethmunk
You definitely bring up a good point about the licensing fees, but I disagree that they can't win. I was extremely satisfied with the virtual console on Wii as it started. It only took a couple years to have by far the best NES/SNES/SEGA/N64 games and the 3DS virtual console had some great GB/GBC ones, then WiiU added GBA/DS games, plus the VC on Wii had some Japan exclusives and WiiWare. All the GBA Castlevanias on WiiU, all the GB Megaman games on 3DS. You could literally download every single Zelda game (except LbW and 4S and the PCDi ones) on WiiU at the time. Can you honestly say that in the nearly 20 years since the Wii came out that Nintendo has improved upon the virtual console in a manner that you'd've expected? I can't. But they don't have to because their customers just keep paying for it all anyway. They don't even make the NES or SNES minis anymore. Honestly, Nintendo has so much contempt for their customers it's infuriating. I'd be willing to bet they short production on things like the minis and the amiibos to be able to sell them for ridiculous markups on the secondary markets.
I don't know. So many people act like no one has any right to criticize anything Nintendo does. If you are paying a company money then it is your right as a customer to voice your opinions. All these rubes complaining about people voicing their opinions about things they're PAYING for. Unbelievable. Not all of us just bend over and take it.
@Heavyarms55
Only a Nintendo fan would be given so little and yet ask to pay more.
and @Snatcher, don't let him neuter you, my friend. Criticize away unapologetically. These offerings are near the bottom of the barrel. You know it, I know it, and Nintendo knows it. How many millions of subscribers at $20 per year and this is what they offer for all the millions they're being paid. They also want $16+ more (in addition to the cost of LoZ:SS) for the privilege of saving you moments of your life with the QoL update. With all those saved minutes you bought the amiibo to gain you can spend them playing this poopsludge. Like I said before, only a Nintendo fan would think this is an adequate return on an investment or a reasonable exchange for a subscription fee. Probably about over 3000 games from NES/SNES/GB/GBC/GBA/N64/DS/GC/Wii (and even Virtual Boy for Vishnu's sake) and these are what they offer their customers. What an embarrassment.
Wow what great additions! The only way I could be even more excited is if they added ET for Atari, or NES's Caveman Games or T&C Surf Design. Maybe we'll get really lucky and get Mario Is Missing. What will Nintendo shart out next???
@sixrings Well then, my friend, among the many casualties of video games in a fanatic's life, I suppose the ability to accept/endure criticism must be added to the list.
@TheFullAndy
HAHA! Actual journalism from Nintendolife? You might as well ask for free amiibos. This site is a Nintendo sycophant's wet dream. And the community is even worse sometimes. I mean look at the immediate blowback your initial comment got. You say you don't like the idea of forcing you to pay/search for some additional toy just to get features that should be a part of the game to begin with, and suddenly you're called a whiner and told to shut up. That happens to me like every time I say anything on here. You remember that one guy even called me a c*nt last week because of it. Nintendolife will NEVER question anything Nintendo does, they'll just cheer it all along and act like we should be happy about it all and feel lucky.
And the amount of people who are like "oh please take my money thank you for screwing me just a little bit more go another knuckle deeper i beg you." blegh
I don't think I'd agree that today is the golden age either. I mean, sure, games are everywhere and a lot of them are cheap (but cheap crap is still crap), but I don't know if Golden Age just equates to availability and price. I agree with the guy above who gives the 90's as the true Gold Age for video games. There are just too many remakes and reissues and reboots and low-grade sequels to think that the industry is in its prime now. Sure the technology's better, but that isn't the art of the thing and especially with video games. Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Metroid and DKC2 are better than most modern games, regardless of the nearly 30 years of technological improvements.
I'd say that the great era of video games is dependent upon the new ideas and inspired design and the level of commitment to the art itself. The extreme dearth of new characters, new types of experiences, and the reliance upon digital markets and constant DLC's really make today's video game industry more of a greedy landfill than a golden age for art. That's why I don't think the number of games or the availability has anything to do with ascribing "the golden age" moniker. If you buy a 1000 mediocre games is that good for you and the art or for the company? I think that answer is obvious. If they rush development of an unfinished title and just sell the remaining stuff in DLC's is that good for us or the company? Can anyone honestly say those Breath of the Wild DLC's shouldn't have been in game out of box? But they turned the price tag from a $60 game to an $80 one.
They don't even make instruction manuals anymore, which were never about the instruction and all about the art and story elements inside and really just adding to the value of the product. I think the obvious golden age of video games is the Super Nintendo era and leading into N64 (for Nintendo), then 1996-2001 or so for Playstation. Xbox never had anything worth raving about, besides Fable 1, but I don't know if one game really merits a golden age title, and the sequels really dragged that series down. And don't say Halo, because PC had been doing that FPS multiplayer for about a decade before Halo ever oozed out of Microsoft's butthole to plug up the airwaves.
Loved this game. I remember I played it straight through when it came out. Highest selling game and Nintendo didn't take the hint that we were starved for more good new 2D games. Still are.
@Giygas_95 Oh man, Metroid 5 would be incredible. They could call it "Rebirth", or something self-aware like that. Maybe it could even have a new boss enemy for once in 30 years, too hahahaha.
New 2D Metroid? That would be the greatest reveal. As far as collections go, they could do a LoZ collection that has the NES, GB, SNES, GBC, and GBA titles (7 US titles, 8 if you count 4S on GBA, which isn't necessary). That would be a good one. Or 2D Metroid collection, I guess. But I'd rather have new games than collections of old ones. That new DKC would be nice to announce officially, too. Maybe a new F-Zero? Or a new Star Fox land/air type setup like with Adventures? Or a new multigame pack with a revamped Balloon Fighters and Ice climbers and Wrecking Crew, and give some good multiplayer options. A new Star Tropics in 3D even. I'm full of great ideas!
@Giygas_95
At this point you just have to hope that the remakes and sequels are good. Nintendo's glory days of good new characters pretty much ended in the 90's, in my opinion.
I recently started playing back through DKC2. So much fun. Never really got in to DK64, so I don't know how excited I can get for a new 3D DKC, but I'll definitely still check it out. The SNES DKC's were and still are fantastic.
Let's get some Vectorman fan games out there then! (I'm sure there are and some geek is about to rip me apart for not knowing about them already). Also General Chaos, that game was pretty fun.
Oh man, let's get a sequel to Aria and Dawn of Sorrow, "Twilight of Sorrow" or "Canticle of Sorrow", but set it back in the 1300's, even before when Legends takes place. Maybe with a female Cruz ancestor. Plus a double castle like in Harmony but even bigger. I'm psyching myself up just thinking about it. But it definitely won't happen .
@Silly_G @EriXz
why wish for a collection instead of an entirely new game? You, my friends, have contracted the Nintendo flu.
@KateGray
I'm with you totally. I miss multiplayer games that are worth it, and I am absolutely sick of the vast majority of options for multiplayer being games with guns. What is it with this country that a gun has to be everywhere? And furthermore why do they always have to be fighting games against each other. I mean, Smash is incredible, but there is a severe disparity between players if you are good and your friend is not (or vice versa). What happened to games like Battletoads where the point was to fight alongside each other?
Balloon fighter, Tetris 2, DKC, Bomberman, Contra, TMNT 2 & 3 & 4, Double Dragon, all great games for multiplayer. Some against and some cooperative. I'd like more competitive puzzle/strategy games for co-op play. More games where the point isn't always violence. I don't have any friends to play with, but if I did, it would be great to have more options for co-op.
You always write great pieces with good ideas. Thanks.
@Callisto4081
Of course I haven't seen any speedrunners. Why would I waste a single second of my short life in this world watching someone else play a video game, let alone someone who runs through it as fast as possible just to beat some arbitrary record that has no meaning whatsoever. There are far too many books to read, foods to cook, and women to meet for that. I like to play games occasionally, but I'd rather be hit in the face with a frying pan than watch someone else play them even for a second.
My original point was--and sorry if it seemed harshly stated--that gimmicks like that should be optional, not mandatory. Call it an older man's opinion if you want, I can almost guarantee I'm in the majority on that one, and I think that's obvious. I have no problem with you enjoying what you enjoy, I just don't want to be forced to do it too.
And this "way more efficient" statement you've made, you kids and your hyperbolic comparatives and obtuse use of language; it's like I'm living in a Kafka nightmare on these comment boards. Efficient means least amount of effort/energy expended to accomplish a goal. Motion controls are literally the exact opposite of efficiency. Just say you like it if you like it, because there is just no way you're going to make a valid case for it being better. And mind you, it's virtually absent from games now, which means the industry didn't find it better either. Buy a VR if you like it, just keep it out of Zelda.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Oh ok I was just letting you know in case. It's got the NES and SNES and GBA ones, too. But you said you know that so nevermind. Oh and Samus Returns is on 3ds shop. I would love the Prime trilogy on Switch cause I hate the motion controls on the Wii trilogy and I don't have the money to get 1 and 2 and a Gamecube again. Welcome to regretting trading my old games and systems in as a kid.
@Kidfunkadelic83
You can download all the Metroid games (except the 3ds remake of II) on the Wii U virtual console. I'm desperate for a brand new 2D Metroid. It's been over 20 years!
@Ryan_Again @Fath @kducky11
Yea! Ross Perot runs a ghost tattoo parlour that sells illegal poptarts to the USSR and Dukakis 1988! Show the Whigs we don't need their anti-parlimentarian robber-barons anymore! Finally someone has the guts to stand up to those socialpitalists!
@Scoopz
You definitely make a good point about this kind of stuff maybe bringing in new fans, but you ever see the 90's Mario Bros. movie or the 80's Super Mario Bros Super Show? Yikes. The theme park does look cool though, it's just that a theme park from a video game company is just marketing/licensing deals cashing in on something from about 40 years ago. It's like, Game of Thrones/GRRM can come out with all the plushes and pens and cupholders it wants, but what we all really want is the 6th book.
There is nothing I personally have against Nintendo making movies or theme parks or toys or whatever, but Nintendo as a first party developer is really lazy. New characters and new ideas rarely ever come out from them, and so many IP's we've loved for over 3 decades just languish in obscurity. I've been on for years about a new 2D Metroid, and while I love the 3ds one, it's just a (good) remake. They are a video game company and just simply don't put out the steady stream of products anyone would expect from a video game company. 5 different versions of the same system is a cheap money grab. How about a new Wrecking Crew? New DKC? F-Zero, Kid Icarus, Dr. Mario, etc.? Why not Mario Kart 9 instead of a re-release of 8? Why not "Mario World Switched" instead of just a re-release of the Wii U one? The answer is obvious: their customers just accept the same thing and continue to support this rehashed (but admittedly great) stuff. Yet the second you point this out some rude and obsessed fanboy comes to shout you back down, telling you you should have no opinion about it.
So, after all that, my point is how about another 2D Metroid!
@TheFullAndy Oh man don't let the bad rep get into your head. It has 4 different campaigns, plus like I said the absolute best control scheme of any game I've played. You can dive backward and shoot while pushing yourself along the ground, jump over railings, slam into the zombies, squish their heads when they're on the ground, and a lot more. So good. Plus it's the first RE game that let you shoot while moving and turning (Rev 1&2 and RE2&3 remakes took that function too). Plus RE6 merc mode has some fantastic levels. The storylines aren't as strong as RE4 or even RE5, but it's at least something different and original for the series even if it's not the best. Have fun man! I still play 6 all the time.
@TheFullAndy Oh man RE4 is one of the top 3 greatest games ever made in my opinion. Never get tired of that one. I think RE6 had the best control scheme of all the RE games, even if the game itself wasn't as good as some of the others. Also RE6's merc mode is so much fun I never get tired of it after all these years.
@SuperCharr hahahaha same here. Everyone pretty much hates everything I ever say on these comment threads, and I'm usually just looking to have a good conversation. But it's pretty easy to bite into the angry ones and stir them up, and when they move to insult me I usually can't help myself . I find the angriest ones like to pretend you don't have any reason to have an opinion and shouldn't say anything at all, but don't give into that. It's nice to read some actual thought-out opinions in these comment threads, even if I don't agree. Especially when a vast majority of hatred seems to be what inevitably takes over.
@SuperCharr
Welcome to the Nintendolife comment section, where the second you make any comment about the games you'd like to see or criticize Nintendo in any way some rando jumps down your throat and tells you you're entitled and complaining (then deletes his angry comments and says stuff about being "positive"). hahahaha. you can't make this stuff up!
@TheFullAndy Oh I've left it. The last time I responded to that guy was like 30 minutes ago, despite him calling me multiple things (cu*t included) to which I said nothing in return. And then these obvious comments about ignoring me (when he most certainly hasn't). I was just having a bit of fun.

This was the first 2D Mario game with the mini mushroom
Re: Talking Point: New Super Mario Bros. Is 15 Years Old, And It's Still Fantastic
Loved this game. I remember I played it straight through when it came out. Highest selling game and Nintendo didn't take the hint that we were starved for more good new 2D games. Still are.
Re: Rumour: Sega Will Re-Release Sonic 3 & Knuckles In A New Sonic Collection
A collection of just 2 games?
Re: Surprise! Nintendo Confirms That "Many" New Games Are Coming This Year
@Giygas_95
Oh man, Metroid 5 would be incredible. They could call it "Rebirth", or something self-aware like that. Maybe it could even have a new boss enemy for once in 30 years, too hahahaha.
Re: Surprise! Nintendo Confirms That "Many" New Games Are Coming This Year
New 2D Metroid?
@Giygas_95
At this point you just have to hope that the remakes and sequels are good. Nintendo's glory days of good new characters pretty much ended in the 90's, in my opinion.
Re: Rumour: The Next Donkey Kong Is Being Developed By The Super Mario Odyssey Team

Re: Disney And Dotemu Releasing LucasArts Classic Games On Switch eShop Next Month
Oh man I LOVE these games. Zombies Ate My Neighbors is especially great. They don't make games like these anymore.
Re: 505 Publishing New Game From Metroid And Castlevania Developer MercurySteam
Oh man, let's get a sequel to Aria and Dawn of Sorrow, "Twilight of Sorrow" or "Canticle of Sorrow", but set it back in the 1300's, even before when Legends takes place. Maybe with a female Cruz ancestor. Plus a double castle like in Harmony but even bigger. I'm psyching myself up just thinking about it. But it definitely won't happen .
@Silly_G @EriXz
why wish for a collection instead of an entirely new game? You, my friends, have contracted the Nintendo flu.
Re: Soapbox: I Miss My Friends, But I Don't Want To Kill Them
@KateGray
Thanks.

Re: Feature: The Exquisite Liminality Of Zelda: Skyward Sword
@Callisto4081
Re: Former Metroid Prime Lead Designer Targeted With Abusive Messages
@Kidfunkadelic83
Oh ok I was just letting you know in case.
Re: Former Metroid Prime Lead Designer Targeted With Abusive Messages
@Kidfunkadelic83
You can download all the Metroid games (except the 3ds remake of II) on the Wii U virtual console. I'm desperate for a brand new 2D Metroid. It's been over 20 years!
Re: Former Metroid Prime Lead Designer Targeted With Abusive Messages
That's so weird because video game fanatics are usually so mild mannered and reasonable when they hear things they don't like or don't agree with

Re: Feature: Nintendo Had A Spectacular Year, And May Have Big Plans
@Scoopz
So, after all that, my point is how about another 2D Metroid!

the angry guy deleted and edited some insulting comments and the ones with profanity. but yea it was all pretty funny.
Re: Feature: Nintendo Had A Spectacular Year, And May Have Big Plans
@TheFullAndy
Oh man don't let the bad rep get into your head.
Re: Feature: Nintendo Had A Spectacular Year, And May Have Big Plans
@TheFullAndy
Oh man RE4 is one of the top 3 greatest games ever made in my opinion. Never get tired of that one. I think RE6 had the best control scheme of all the RE games, even if the game itself wasn't as good as some of the others. Also RE6's merc mode is so much fun I never get tired of it after all these years.
Re: Feature: Nintendo Had A Spectacular Year, And May Have Big Plans
@SuperCharr
hahahaha same here.
Re: Feature: Nintendo Had A Spectacular Year, And May Have Big Plans
@SuperCharr

Oh I've left it. The last time I responded to that guy was like 30 minutes ago, despite him calling me multiple things (cu*t included) to which I said nothing in return. And then these obvious comments about ignoring me (when he most certainly hasn't). I was just having a bit of fun.
