Re: Review: Red Dead Redemption - A Fine But No-Frills Switch Port, For A Fistful Of Dollars

I’d just like to point out that Skyrim was an old game when it hit the Switch as well (it’s actually around the same age as RDR). RDR looks as good as Skyrim, plays as good as Skyrim, has an arguably better main story, and includes all the content (no multiplayer, but Skyrim doesn’t have that, either), and is the same price as Skyrim NOW (after nearly 6 years on the Switch). Plus it’s an additional $20 for the Anniversary Upgrade (so, $70 for Skyrim if you want all the content). I think we’re getting a pretty good deal, and people are being big babies about this whole thing. We’re lucky to get RDR at all. I’m enjoying being able to play it anywhere I want. I’ve beaten the game before, but I never played Undead Nightmare, so I’m really looking forward to that.

I don’t understand how they could give Lil Gator Game #1 over Chained Echoes. I saw one review for Lil Gator Game, and that was it. They had multiple articles praising Chained Echoes in addition to the review, and the score was also higher. Personally, I think Chained Echoes should have gotten #1. It’s an excellent game.

I stopped playing these games after I figured out that not only does this game series rip people off constantly with micro transactions in modes they have no business being in, your game also ceases to exist in only a couple years. So that nice, shiny new NBA 2K game you love so much won’t be worth crap after a couple years. Most of the modes, including MyPlayer, will be unplayable. I’d rather stick with games I can still play years from now.

Re: Talking Point: How Many Hours Is A 'Short' Game For You?

rmswriter

For me, it comes down to value for the $. Did the game give me my money’s worth? I don’t expect a lot of hours from a $15-$20 game, but a $60 game better give me a lot, because that’s a chunk of change. If I finish a $60 game in under 10 hours, I’m going to be angry. Now, if it has lots of replay value, that’s a different story.

I’m surprised Actraiser Renaissance wasn’t on this list. That game came from out of nowhere and hit all the right nostalgic notes. The music is still brilliant, the graphics are better, and there’s more to do than before. It’s got my vote this month.

I refuse to support 2K anymore. I’ve bought 2K18, 2K19, and 2K20. It’s ridiculous that after spending hundreds of dollars on these games, I’m no longer able to play MyCareer on 2K18 or 2K19. Also, I can’t play a game riddled with micro transactions anymore. If 2K wants to make a game that I can play without having to worry about losing all my purchases and progress after 2 years, I’ll be happy to buy it. But I can’t support their greed any longer.

Re: Poll: No, Really, What Was Nintendo's Worst Year?

rmswriter

@iulis84 But again, the year isn’t over yet. The best time of the year for games is usually in the fall. Who knows what Nintendo has up their sleeves? I was just illustrating the variety of really good games that have come out so far and we still have 5 months left of the year.

Considering 2020 isn’t over yet, you really can’t judge it. 22% of votes say this is the worst year we’ve had when we’ve had Animal Crossing, Paper Mario, Borderlands Collection, Bioshock Collection, Xenoblade Chronicles, Trials of Mana, The Outer Worlds, etc. My wallet has really been hurting this year. Doesn’t make any sense.
