Re: Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bug Allows Miiverse Image Posting Shenanigans

mullen

Hatsune Miku Project Mirai 2 in JP used to be able to post screenshots on MiiVerse. However, there's an very easy way to post real life photo from the game, and Nintendo just simplely shut down the screenshot feature of that community, without any patches or so. That's terrible because there're so many really cute moments in the game that you want to share with others and if you beat a prefect or really high score you also want to share that with others.

I'm not sure when Project Mirai comes to NA what will happen with the community.

Re: Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS Brings Circle Pad Doom in Japan

mullen

As someone who got the JP version full game, I'd say that there's no way to switch D-pad and circle pad (D-pad is used for taunting.) You can switch the functions of ABXYLR, and turn on/off the circle-pad's up as jump. That's all you can do currently. However, it's possible that the game will add more options in future updates.

Re: Demo for Super Smash Bros. 3DS Announced for North America and Europe

mullen

Already downloaded the game this morning. However, I'm still interested in the demo version, especially I want to know if there's any region lock for local play.
However, I can see one problem. If the demo is still limited to 30 times, that will be a huge problem for this demo. With JP demo, you should not worry about 30 times because there's only 3 days. But for US version, 30 times for 2 or 3 weeks may be just far from enough for some players.

Re: Famitsu Releases Dossier on Sherlock Holmes' Appearance in the New Ace Attorney

mullen

According to the source material, Ryunosuke Naruhodou visited London. Also, the Japanese heroine studied at London. For the roles, I think Ryunosuke Naruhodou and Sherlock Holmes are both the main characters, just like that Phoenix Wright x Professor Layton (also from London!). Do you still remember the demo video of this game released earlier? It says founder x ancestor, and the source material reveals that the ancestor is Ryunosuke and founder is Holmes.

Re: The Japanese New 3DS Packaging Is Both Cute And Colourful

mullen

@KnightRider666 I also want to know that. I currently have more than 250 and hope that new 3DS can remove that limitation. I think if the reason for old 3DS is because that the hardware can't handle too much software, there should be no such excuse for new 3DS. The only question is whether Nintendo is too lazy to make this modification.

Re: Sorry, Contrary to Rumours the New Nintendo 3DS Will be Region Locked

mullen

@AVahne About the optional region-lock, as far as I know, there are 2 games can be considered as "optional". One is the famous Louvre guide, another is not as famous: Zelda OOT Chinese version, which can be played on both Traditional Chinese region and Simplified Chinese region (that's 2 regions, and only this one title is playable on both systems). You may notice that both games are published by Nintendo, so if that's optional, that's only optional for Nintendo.
Btw, I also saw a post years ago from a publisher that said they want the game to be available for all regions but Nintendo doesn't allow it.

Re: Sorry, Contrary to Rumours the New Nintendo 3DS Will be Region Locked

mullen

Whatever, I never believed the rumor from the first time I heard it. Even that was true, unless you can access different eShops from any 3DS, that's still useless for me (eShop version is cheaper (without shipping fee) and has some exclusive titles).
I just hope Nintendo can drop the region-lock for local wireless play. I was told even the latest Kirby Fighter Z has region-lock when local play with different versions... I think only few games from Nintendo like Animal Crossing and Pokémon doesn't have region lock for local play.
I hope Super Smash Bros 3DS can be one of them. I plan to play the JP version first then buy the US version, and I hope I can then simply give one of my 3DS to my friend and battle.

Re: Wii U Minecraft Looking Doubtful As Dev Says They Have "Fulfilled The Need For Now"

mullen

I don't care about this game, so whatever.
I also want to say if the game manufacture show no respect to this platform, there's no need to care about them. Really, even if you beg them, and they port certain version, they may just give you something really bad and there's very few chance for next version or updates. Why should you pay them for such a bad product and attitude?
Just forget it, no need to mention it, either as news or as discussion.

Re: Guide: New Nintendo 3DS - Everything We Know So Far

mullen

@ChuJelly You're right, that the new adaptive brightness feature, the screen will get darker in dark environment. Actually I noticed this feature several times, but each time I tried to summarize all the features of new 3ds, I always forgot it -_-. So I can understand why nobody talk about it (no, I can't).

Re: Reaction: Picking Apart The New Nintendo 3DS And New 3DS XL

mullen

For the new exclusive games, I think most of games will not be in this category. No matter what, game developer and publisher still want to earn as much as possible, so there is not way they exclude the large install base that already there. The only possible reason that there's exclusive game is that they game really need extra power, like Xenoblade. I also think it's possible that Nintendo may release some other Wii games as new 3DS exclusive, since it will not cost a lot to port the game and they usually require more power. But other games, either 1st party new titles, or 3rd party games, should still be playable on old 3DS as that's the only way to earn more.
However, I also think it's possible that new games will have something exclusive on new 3DS. For example, maybe next Pokemon will be able to be 3D all the time on new model, but still partial 3D on old model.

Re: Reaction: Picking Apart The New Nintendo 3DS And New 3DS XL

mullen

@Jazzer94 I think nobody answered your question yet. According to official website, the camera's resolution is still the same. However, the performance in dark environment is improved a bit
Untitled
Another change is the front camera, there is a infrared LED next to it, which can help the camera recognize the position of player's face in dark environment (but I think it will not be helpful for the image quality)

Re: Somebody At Ubisoft Really Doesn't Like Mario Kart 8's Mercedes-Benz DLC

mullen

I personally don't mind this DLC. Actually I like it. However, I still want to say I can understand other players who may against it if Nintendo can't do it right (since at this time, we don't know how exactly it works). 1. Is this DLC really optional, or this DLC is bundled with many other improvements? If that's the latter case, you can't say it's optional because all the improvement are important. In the worst case, you must have it to play online. 2. Can you optionally block this DLC when playing online, or if your opponent use this car, you have no way but accept that? If it's the latter case, that means not only the DLC is not optional but also not avoidable. I hope Nintendo does the former case for both my questions. Once again, I don't mind real world cars at all, and I probably will use that car, but I can full understand that there are players that don't want them, and I hope Nintendo do the right thing that doesn't bother them.

Re: Looks Like You Can Only Install 300 Games And Apps On Your 3DS

mullen

272 apps currently on my JP 3DS. I hope Nintendo can announce a new 3DS model soon so I can buy another one before the number reaches 300.
(Btw, 198 of them are demos... However, I assume since NOJ release more and more demos every week and they provide 5 club coins for each demo, there should be more and more Japanese 3DS players face such issue recently. Maybe NOJ will notice that and try to fix it through a firmware update, and NOA and NOE will benefit from that as well).

Re: Nintendo Goes Download-Only With The 2014 Club Nintendo Elite Rewards

mullen

@SonataAndante But one thing make Japan's club great: you can earn 5 coins for each demo (within 10 days since the demo available), and there are already nearly 200 3DS game demos so far, which mean 1000 Japan coins, or roughly 2000 US coins. There's no problem to become platinum only by demos.
Not to say they have much better selections of rewards.

Re: Nintendo Dominates List of Top-Selling Games in Japan for 2014

mullen

Now Yokai Watch 2 already sales more than Yokai Watch, and there is no doubt that Pokemon ORAS, Monster Hunter 4g and Super Smash Bros. will book their positions in the second half year. I think 3DS will continue dominating the top 10 at the end of this year, but the question is how many Wii U titles left (MK8 probably can still be the top 10 for the whole 2014 ranking, but not sure if SSB Wii U version can be one of the top 10)

Re: Nintendo Download: 17th July (North America)

mullen

FYI, I think (as far as I know) the comic workshop's tutorial is just about how to use its tools, not about how to draw comic.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, because if it also teach you how to draw comic, similar to art academy, I will definitely buy it.

Re: The Denpa Men Are Going Free-To-Play In Japan

mullen

@PvtOttobot Totally agree with you. Less than 2.5 years and there are 4 Denpa Men games, RPG games. Even if each game had significant improvement, it's still too many and fast, not to say that the improvement is trivial.
That's how to destroy a good game brand. I liked this game initially, but now I'm tired of it.

Re: First Impressions: The Thieves And The 1000 Pokémon Steals Its Way Onto 3DS In Japan

mullen

Use a lot of coins -> beat one stage -> wait several days for the coins -> repeat.
Thanks to yesterday's new panel, I have to wait more days for the coins to play the next stage.
Since you can have at most 334 pokemons for each type during the battle, and without streetpass you can only have 1 type, it's clearly that there's no way to complete this game without lots of streetpass.

Re: iPad Title Castaway Paradise Does A Pretty Convincing Impression Of Animal Crossing

mullen

That's why Nintendo should continue working on their 3DS or following consoles and not release their new games on mobile platform. There are tons of such cheap imitations, and Nintendo has no effective way (except so called "law" which doesn't always work) to defend their IPs and ideas on others' platform, and no way to attract customers to choose their games if the low quality imitations are much cheaper (because most customers can't really tell the difference before purchasing)

Re: Food-Focused RPG Adventure Bar Story Is Munching Its Way To The 3DS

mullen

I saw this game on JP eShop today, as well as the upcoming island days. Something really disappointed me is that both games don't support 3D display. I think the game will visually much more interesting and appealing if they support 3D display, even if that's only simple 3D like different layers. (at least for me).
