In my opinion there is NO reason for a game to be so hard to look at. In handheld mode this is impossible to play unless you constantly use the clunky zoom option on the switch.
Would have been a regular play for me otherwise too. Very poor art decisions and UI is difficult because of it.
All good with me! I support a lot of indies, and half way agree with you, however I always love suggestions on new games, especially since so many are on sale often.
Thanks! I'd try Eastward at some point. For Indie's, Hades makes the list for games I can play on Switch. Is Tetris Effect indie? Golf Story made the list but I was so bored in the winter area I quit. Maybe Monster's Expedition (though I got stuck and quit). In Other Waters. Talos Principle. Alba, Abzu.... I liked the Touryst but the boss battle (with the stupid ball jumping thing) ended the game for me. I am not sure if Geometry Wars is Indie game, but I love the series -in fact -Galaxies for Wii (DS version good too) is the best entry. I wish a collection would come to Switch.
Bad North is really cool... but not AAA either.
But they are also much shorter and often hit a wall towards the later areas of gameplay that do not match AAA games, especially Nintendo games, usually. I've also noticed Indie's have a slow start sometimes which is a pacing issue probably, that I find hard to get past. Sakuna was great until I got a repetition issue with no proress forward (15 hours in). Was Muramasa (wii and others) an Indie?
Perfect puzzle game. A gaming dream come true, really. Long overdue for games to step up too!
Q: Why do puzzle games have to look and sound so cheap and crappy?
A: THEY DON'T HAVE TO.
Lumines, Bittos+ (wiiware), Puzzle&Dragons and of course Puzzle League (Planet version probably) have come close... but TE rules them all for the time being.
I am totally holding out for Legends: Arceus. I don't have time for more than one Pokemon game per year or so. It takes me forever to play through. I have Platinum for Gen4.
I really don't care how (over) highly rated this series is. It is trashy desensitizing 'little kid wants to be a big kind now' series that glorifies some of the worst parts of society. Shock value and overhyped is still trash even though GTA3 was pivotal in sandbox tasks based play.
The coffee thing is cheap scummy and predictable and was no doubt left in for coverage just like it was in the first place back in 2003.
Do not agree or like this article - spending $60+ on most of these games that are released with DAY ONE patches and held back content for "DLC".... we all have a right to a critical opinion.
In a lot of cases "lazy" works just fine. Shovelware, deadlines, quotas, cash-ins, and "marketing" based on previous entries in a series are no excuse -and why I buy either used or wait for a deep sale for the most part.... or skip buying it at all. And very rarely even consider paid DLC packs.
This game did not hook me. I just don't get the hype... at all.
Grabbed it on sale months ago, and have at least 10+ hours on it... I do like it though and will keep trying as it does get more interesting as things unlock.
Performs well -but as a handheld game text is WAY TOO SMALL and as a console game, it just doesn't entertain as much and seems more appropriate for the handheld style of play.
has anyone found this to ne a fin addition to playing the game? I ask because from the GC animal crossing I used a checklist (since that was largely a collection game, more than a builder). Did this app make the game more enjoyable?
After a 'not that fun' first 30 or so hours, I set it aside before I knew about the tool selection ring DIY.... the tool scrambling KILLED this game for me. I am willing to try it again with the tool ring thing but I want to start fresh with a new island -after the update. I will never ever pay for DLC for this series, so it is what it is. It will be a while before I try it again though I am starting Dragon Quest Builders 2 instead of AC at this point.
Tetris Effect is the game dreams are made of.... there is no going back after that one to any of these others. All puzzle games should have such appeal, it would the genre much credit over looking like a bunch of Win95 flash games.
The magic of the very first original GC Pikmin combined with that magical controller. The launch period for GC is one of my most fun memories with gaming. Pikmin had me scrambling to buy this system and game as the ultimate killer app must-have for that time.
Pikmin 2 was frustrating but great.
Pikmin 3 I hated the gamepad use and feel... and I won't pay full price for a Switch port. I'll get it used way down the line sometime.
It is because of the backlash that game took over those trees, or textures, etc.. A fine game that I enjoyed, despite those trees. Cool with you if I say so?
As previous poster commented, it is old timey tech, yet they have digital cameras and high tech to document the pokemon.....yet wooden poke balls. Seems a bit disjointed, but as I said, I'm all in on th8is game and excited. Almost nothing could deter me from Pokemon games, not even the skanky textures and "trees" in Sword which I liked as well.
I would have if it were a little bigger. I have issues reading the small text that was often designed for large TV's, in portable mode. Never have this problem with 3DS because those games were designed with handheld in mind. OLED is nice but really, I would want an "OLED XL" to bite on a new replacement console.
N64 was so expensive back then I had to wait, and skip most of it. As kids with SNES I remember me and my friends would plan out which games to buy, so we share them. I paid $80 for Chrono Trigger, $75 for Mortal Kombat II and $70 for NBA Jam back then.... that was basically the entire generation for me. In fact one my main go-to games back then was to get long quest games, RPGs, etc and I think that genre turned successful in the USA due to getting longer value out of games.
These days I have a good collection from various generations -most of which I rebought for my own satisfaction. A game night these days is bits and pieces of across 2-3 decades -though on Switch from the current -though I kind of consider it PS3/360 level output...which I am mostly fine with, but it does not feel al that New to me, still.
@progx I use "greed" because of what has only been known as the 'switch tax'... same products and/or content across other platforms are fraction of what Switch ends up with... it's literally a meme at this point. It's fine with me and not looking to debate or gaslight anyone... I have previous generations I still enjoy... this new nintendo and new philosophy I can tell you that. I have loads less affinity towards this nintendo than I have ever had since the NES days. It is a big change and not at all a positive one in my opinion.
I like the look of it and Wishlisted it. Still too much even with the "preorder" discount though. I'd expect larger discount sale later, which will give time for reviews too.
I just finished Platinum recently so this is a hard pass for me. though later I'll likely bid on one of yours, ya'll, and grab it at its proper low-ball dollar value.
Excited for Legends though and holding out on starting any Pokemon game until I have that one played and completed.
I imagine it like a cross between Ocarina's Hyrule field hub and Monster Hunter.
It is a smaller step than expected towards their ultimate Poke' of the WIld style they will eventually reach (couple generations down the line, I'd guess) but this is the best we can expect for such a massive amount of information and content Pokemon has to have for a game to get larger and more "open".
Aww, who am I kidding.... been waiting for this game since I first saw at launch on PS4. I can't hold out for physical + it is on sale now for $30 .... I'm in

Re: Video: The GameCube Is Over 20 Years Old, And Blimey Do We Have Memories Of It
The legendary Gamecube is literally the reason the (original) Wii is actually -by default- a must have all-time favorite console of mine.
Combined with GC total backwards compatibility, massive virtual console (+ great WiiWare!!) and select Wii games.... it wins -even to my own surprise.
GC was and is a huge asset to the Wii generation and that is not often brought up.
Re: Anniversary: Super Smash Bros. Melee Launched 20 Years Ago Today In North America
Still have it... .still play it occasionally. And mr man does it still rock!

I agree the open world genre needs an enima!
BoTW was certainly refreshing.

Re: Mini Review: Golf Club: Wasteland - Surprisingly Engaging Post-Apocalyptic Putt Putt
Frustrating and aggravating gameplay.
I really wanted to like it, but I wish I could get a refund.
Re: Nintendo Download: 25th November (North America)
Bought 5 sale games so far
Alba, Savage Planet, In Other Waters, What The Golf, Cosmic Express.
Re: Reminder: It's Turkey Day In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
It is not Turkey Day in mine..... clock set correctly too. Hmm.
Fully updated to version 2.0.3
Re: Feature: Our Verdict On Mario Golf: Super Rush's Version 4.0 Update - The Final New Characters, Courses And Modes
I still will only grab it used once I can at a very reduced price.
Mario Golf an all-time classic for me too :/
Re: Nintendo Announces Huge Cyber Deals Sale Starting Today, Up To 50% Off Top Switch Games (North America)
Finally grabbed What The Golf? and In Other Waters so far. Been waiting quite a while for both to hit the sales!
Likely getting Savage Planet later too.

For $30 or maybe even $40... sure your point wins.

I love Pokemon....yes even the last few generations.
This is disappointing.
I canceled my order - they lost a sale.
Gen IV deserved megatons better.

Re: Review: Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition - Three Classics In One Shocking Package
HOLY LOW SCORE!
Wow. now Rockstar will justify NEVER EVER bringing anything more, much less this series (which I despise) and for sure, no Red Dead which I do like.
It is really too bad for all the folks that were excited fro this game. Seems Rockstar and Nintendo were never a well-matched pair unfortunately.

IWATA's Nintendo will be forever missed.
The new age of Nintendo is turning quite disgusting, arrogant, self-inflated and greedy.

Ok, thank you.
Do you happen know if it a Limited Run Games type or one of those type productions, or a regular physical release?
Re: Review: Tetris Effect: Connected - Mizuguchi's Masterpiece Finds Its Ideal Platform
@HammerGalladeBro
It is hard to tell from your reply;
Are you saying have "tetris" (another version)? or THIS game, Tetris Effect Connected? On Switch?
If so, Where is it available? I am searching online and it is not listed anywhere in the world from what I am finding.
Re: Review: Tetris Effect: Connected - Mizuguchi's Masterpiece Finds Its Ideal Platform

I can't find it physical, anywhere online. What am I missing? Is it physical in the US?
