Good memories! I started off on the good old rubber-keyed Speccy too and first played Starfox there! (I refuse to say I’m middle aged though…)
My mate got a super nes when they came out and eventually I got to play this version of Star Fox! I thought it was kinda cool and then forgot about it.
Until the Switch and NSO! Been playing it there and the elusive SF2; great fun and I totally see the Star Wars-esqueness.
Happy times! I’d definitely buy a new switch Star Fox, especially if they made it a bit like Wing Commander, with branching story plots mixed in with the shooting
My other half has no real interest in games; so whilst I think the cat Mario / Luigi and Koopa soft toys are quite cute, I’d just get a blank stare if they were a present. I’ll stick to the restaurant meal I’ve got booked 😋
Yes, cheers! Although I’d like one or two amiibo figures, they’re perpetually sold out, so getting the cards is a space-saving next best thing (at least for the game that is). Ordered the first three sets so will dive back in to AC when they arrive 😃
It’s gonna be Ezio. I own all the games on the PS3 and it was only a couple of years that I properly completed them, but I’m (misguided or otherwise) drawn to play them handheld. Just like Black Flag 3 etc. daft, I know , but hey ho
@Pod not just that (which is crazy enough), but you’re only “owning” the image for a period of time, ie less than a year. I mean, if NFT is essentially about bragging rights, then this becomes even more idiotic.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the last 39 years worth of gaming (yeah I’m old, meh). I’ve had a cracking time so far. I’ve avoided micro-transactions, loot boxes etc but this just smells entirely of gauging as much money out of people as possible, just like those other stellar inventions I mentioned above.
There does need to be some kind of morality reset but I’ll be long gone before that happens.
Whatever happened to making good games that are fun & not broken that also sell? People get the profits from that and there’s no need to rinse ever last penny out of someone because they can.
I liked the PSVR original and I’m quite keen on playing this as it’s meant to be somewhat different. Will wait for the reviews to see how it plays on Switch, as I’d rather buy it for that.
Enjoyed The Lonely Assassins too, so the Whovian game ‘batting average’ is slowly creeping up!
the trailer made me smile. I was watching the trailer on PushSquare and was praying for a Switch version as would much rather play this in handheld mode. And woo hoo! yes it is
I've given ACNH 155 hours of my life and for me, that's quite a significant amount. I've never played any of the earlier versions, so can't compare directly. From reading comments there's a good chunk of content the devs could include and I would certainly spend more time on the game should new, substansive content or functionality arrive.
this looks fun! And even better that the dev are offering the digital version for free. Will certainly give it a go - and expect to be terrible at it ... but hey! 'having a go' is part of the fun, innit?
@carlos82 that is a good idea. As it's not released until March next year, that gives me time to see if there's a Western release or chance to save up some coins to get it.
Probably some Bomberman Online, mixed in with Pac-Man & Tetris online too. It’s weird how I have never taken to online multiplayer shooters, but I thoroughly enjoy Tetris ‘99 and then these two. And I’m not totally awful at them!
The last Bomberman I played was Eric and the Floaters (ask your dad - it’s a Hudson game from the early ‘80’s) and so this new iteration is giving me a lot of enjoyment 😊
I like the look of this! I have the NES version, on my Evercade (which I also enjoy), so if the original one is markedly different, I think I can justify a ‘double dip’.
I had a tenner (well £10.15) on my account so got Horace, Yoku’s Island Express, Be-A Walker and The Forbidden Arts. Not bad really! I’ll be chucking some virtual coin post Christmas as I’ve seen plenty more I want !
I’ve played a number of these on the two Classics compilations that were released for the PSP. As I no longer own them, I’m quite interested in this and likely to buy ... sensible pricing permitting
And if you can play those originally with vertical aspect ratios in that manner, I’d definitely be more inclined!
I have Heroes of Loot on my Vita and it's an excellent Gauntlet-esque roguelike. Not sure I want to fork out £7 and double-dip, especially when I paid something like £1.79 for the original, but it's definitely worth a blast if it comes down to around £4
I remember Green Bert from my Speccy days. Blinking hard!! Think I managed to get onto level two, but no further. As much as I’d like to play the arcade original, I’ll give it a miss as I wouldn’t get value for money out of it
@sandman89 it’s a new handheld with a cartridge library of retro or retro-themed games. Nintendo Life has produced a hardware review and some other news items on it; a quick search will show you the articles, if you want to know more.
I had the Amiga original, and The Directors' Cut for the A1200. I've bought a few Worms games over the years and whilst this article has technically little to do with Switch software, it is a franchise available for the machine and it is about videogames, so there's some relevancy.
Hurrah!! Such eggsellent news. Ahem. After playing them all on my Speccy and getting the Evercade cart, this will be a day one purchase. I’m wondering if there could be some DLC which included the old (emulated) ZX games? Please??? I’ll crack a smile if it happens.
I had NMH for the Wii and got partway through, so I’m kinda interested in buying the two now. I do have a daft games backlog (don’t we all ...?) so that may temper my excitement ... but it is payday today hmmmmmm
I’ve never played a Pikmin game, so tried the demo last night and quite liked it. I’m personally not bothered that it originated from the Will U, as didn’t have that machine either, but whilst I like what I played, I’ve got enough to get thru and I’ll expect I’ll buy it in another six months or so (and not at full price either).
Out of that list, Gradius III, Green Beret and Rod Land would be my choices.
I'd like to see in the future, Rainbow Islands, Arkanoid, Chase HQ, Cabal, Operation Wolf and Op Thunderbolt, Powerdrift, Xybots, Toobin', APB and Escape from the Planet of the Robot Monsters!
(I'm essentially remembering all the good arcade games I used to play on my Spectrum that I don't believe have had Switch releases)
My first memory playing a Mario game was a port of the original Mario Bros on the ZX Spectrum, around 1987. My first experience of Mario on actual Nintendo hardware was Super Mario Land on the Game Boy. I’ve dipped in and out of various Mario games over the years and I’m currently enjoying playing the originals via All-Stars on NSO.
In addition to more AC, I had a blast on Mario kart and All-Stars. The main game I played this weekend was called ‘celebrating my birthday’ - I levelled up on Saturday, and now at the quite frankly unbelievable age of 46 ... where did all the time go ...?
I finally bit the bullet and bought Animal Crossing this morning! It’s endearingly sweet and seems to be a bit bonkers (in a “normal” type way) but I’m enjoying it. My mate tried to fly over from his island (he’s had the game since launch), but the friendly Dodo told me that gates don’t open until tomorrow!
This is now me committed to the game for quite possibly the rest of my life ...
I've ordered them. thought it would be a bit of fun; after all, £6.25 is whatever value you apply to it ... expensive compared to two generic notepads from most shops for sure, but £6.25 is also less than the two frappucinos I got in a coffee shop yesterday ... all about choices ...
If the collection is meant to represent the various games since TR1, then I'd be looking for some upgrading of the original gfx in the oldest set, alongside some 'quality of life' enhancements, such as saving abilities and more modern style of controls.
Having a smattering of the original style (from PS1 era to current gen), plus the twin-stick duo and GO would be a quite sweet collection.
My expectations versus reality are likely to be very different!!

Although I do think I’d like to play certain games on the tv, like BotW. But I’ll have to wait until I buy a phat switch for that …

I really do like the GC’s bounciness, however replaying it today and it seems to go on a bit too long. So I plumped for the GBA.

Re: Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins Has Arrived On Nintendo Switch
@Bentendo1609 yes, I totally agree with you! The Doctor Who bit was the main reason I got Lego Dimensions.
Also bought The Lonely Assassins today, looking forward to trying that this weekend

Oh I am so impressed with this! Rainbow Islands, NZ Story, Bubble Bobble, Rastan, Arkanoid … whoo hoo!

Here’s hoping for a UK/Western release …!

Ploughing thru the delights of Kirby’s Adventure via NSO, hopefully completing Resistance: Burning Skies on Vita and a bit of island life on ACNH.
I’m in the process of moving house so my ‘under the tv’ consoles are all packed away! Handheld joys only 🙄😬
