Even though I love Pikmin 3, the "Ideal" control scheme involves using the wiimote+nunchuk with the gamepad in your lap....which is just about the most inconvenient way to play a game I can think of. Another example of a Nintendo game being great DESPITE the horrible gimmick.
I just finished selling all 19 of my amiibo (including King DDD, Pit, Capt Falcon, Gold Mario, Meta Knight, Ness, Jiggly, Fox etc etc) except for the Splatoon characters. I am officially done with amiibo and will not be purchasing any in the future. Nintendo needs to get their act together.
To the author of this article from a long time tennis player: The word "rally" should be used where you wrote "volley". "Volley" in tennis is simply defined as hitting the ball before it hits the ground. A "Rally" on the other hand is defined as two players hitting the ball back and forth...what happens during a single "point". People that don't play tennis use the words volley and rally interchangeably but they are NOT the same thing. Google the word volley if you don't believe me.
Very disappointing that it doesn't track anything besides experience and rank. I would like some more advanced stats such as #of splats, #times splatted, weapon stats, etc. etc.
My question is: "Are they going to remove the online servers for this game when NX comes out JUST like they did for the Wii?" If so, that is freaking ridiculous.
I don't get the infatuation with this game. Looks like a repetitive button masher where you take on giant hordes of enemies over and over and over with no variation in gameplay whatsoever.
Realistically, who would pass up getting Punch Out for 33 cents and spend 200 coins for it? I would assume most of the people that wanted Punch Out got it when it was practically free.
This may sound strange as a Nintendo fan, but it could be a good thing if the Wii U tanks. Why? Because it might be the only thing that wakes Nintendo up out of their customer-unfriendly, stubborn slumber. Give us a true VC lineup with Gamecube and more retro games, give us a true account system tied to purchases, and not the console...give us a system with more power and storage, give us more ONLINE play in games. It may take an epic failure for them to wake the heck up and start paying attention.
It's hard to name a game I haven't played yet, but I do think Galaxy and Sunshine were very creative names that distinguished themselves from the field. For example, I think Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a GOOD name, but I wasn't a fan of Donkey Kong Country Returns as a game name. Something less generic. Mario Kart Double Dash was a great name which emphasized the use of the 2 characters...i think something similar to that name would work with this game because you can play with many different characters at once. Maybe something like "Super Mario & Friends Frenzy"...anything that emphasizes the use of the multiplayer.
Still hate the name no matter the reasoning behind it. Mario 64 was a Mario 3D World...so was Sunshine....so were the Galaxies. It doesn't matter if they think it's the most creative name in the world, it's about public perception. If a casual gamer without previous knowledge sees this game, the name is not likely to draw their interest. The same goes for the Wii U name. It doesn't matter what Nintendo thinks about the name, it matters what the general public thinks....and we've all found out that much of the public doesn't know the difference between Wii U and Wii. Miyamoto probably named his children "Boy" and "New Baby Girl". Other creative names tossed around for this game were probably "New Super Mario World" or "Super Mario World Returns".
I'm a 28 year old med student. Very little time, and my fiance doesn't play video games...nor do any of my friends. Nintendo deserves to continue losing profit until they wake up and realize the internet exists.
@MegaManEP3 Do you not have to pay sales tax on your eShop games? I do. The $5 DDPromotion pays for a portion of my sales tax but the game still ends up close to $61 AFTER applying the $5 eShop credit.
Buying on Amazon (with no sales tax) is basically the same as utilizing your DD Promotion $5 to pay off the sales tax. So I don't see how downloading "in order to get the DD Promotion" is a justifiable reason for downloading.
Are there any excuses for not having classic Gamecube games on the VC? Any at all? I personally find it ridiculous they are missing such an opportunity to cash in. Sigh......
Wouldn't Mario 64 be considered a "3D World"? I really dislike the name of this game. Nintendo is horrible with naming its games.....for example: NEW Super Mario Bros. Wii, NEW Super Mario Bros. U, NEW Super Luigi U, Yoshi's NEW Island. Really???? In a few years these games will not be "new" anymore, and the name will be even more idiotic.
The difference between this game and playing NSMB U on Time Trial mode is what?? Both involve running as fast as you can without getting hit. I'll get blasted for this post but it seems to lack creativity.
Let me get this straight...if you already own these VC games on the Wii you can transfer them over with system transfer and play them on the Wii menu. But if you get games on the Wii U VC then that allows you to play them on the gamepad. Is that the only difference? Just wondering why you would even need to buy them again.

Re: Poll: Did Nintendo Triumph With The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at E3?
They had a good E3 with TWO friggin' games shown? I don't think so.

Look at around 8:30-8:36 to see an enemy just floating in midair. Must be a glitch.
Re: Interview: Splatoon Co-Director Tsubasa Sakaguchi On His Best Weapon, Mastering Gyro Controls And The Future Of Nintendo's Freshest IP

Re: Iwata Vows To Listen To E3 2015 Digital Event Feedback And "Work To Better Meet Your Expectations"
They are so out of touch with what the public wants it's scary. Looks like Splatoon may be the last Nintendo game I buy for a very long time.
Re: Reaction: Nintendo's E3 Digital Event Brought Franchises We Wanted, But Not The Blockbusters
Honestly, they probably would have been better off just skipping E3 altogether.
Re: Video: Get Cosy With This Yoshi's Woolly World Showcase from Japan

What VC? Wii U VC selection is so horrendous it doesn't deserve the name VC.

Which is ironic because their games are incredibly creative, yet they can't come up with a creative name to save their lives.

Black Arms/Black Ops
The next game will probably be Cry of Duty: Contemporary Warfare
