A lot of people suggesting Nintendo want to push the switch to beat out PS2 sales, but I'd bet they don't care about that at all... if a new system sooner means more profit, that's what the shareholders want and that's what they'll do
They built up the Mario movie the same way, turned out to be kind of like a long form Trix commercial. Which for Mario, fine, but we have an emotional connection with LoZ. We will see. Trying to keep an open mind but Zelda should not be a movie.
Weird to give the boring late stages of Shredder's Revenge a pass by claiming this happens in all beat-em-ups.They tried to stretch the playtime to combat the whining of modern critics and fans ignorant of arcade design- "Why would I pay for a 45 minute game!!/?" and that's on them, not the genre.
(same with SOR4, way too long, but better than late Shredder's Revenge.)
I love the 2012 series so the voice cast returning is a big plus. The input lag must be really bad though, the Cowabunga Collection has atrocious lag and it wasn't even mentioned in the review. Here's hoping the Last Ronin game comes to the next nintendo console. (also the assertion that Shredder's Revenge is anywhere near as good as snes Turtles in Time really baffles me) Booyakashaaaa!
Amazing stuff, good job! Really didn't expect it to be as cheap as $4.99, another huge factor in accessibility in a totally different but very important way.
@Tom-Massey I guess we all have different standards and definitions of phrases like unacceptable and "requires determination to look past." For a $40(!) run n gun, that's far from "not bad." I'm a huge contra fan, that demo was trash.
I've also heard former reviewers say Nintendolife had increased the score they gave without their knowledge. That would make more sense to me here.
"Glitches, however, are minor irritants compared to the game’s performance, which on Switch is frankly unacceptable."
6/10 Not Bad!
If you say it's bad, give it a bad score. If it looks like you reaaally don't want to give any game a bad score ever, you lose credibility. The review is of the switch version, not the "core game beneath" or whatever.
good time to look up little Celeste 2 they made for the 3rd anniversary on Pico-8, free download, cool hookshot type mechanic, even has Lena Raine soundtrack.
Celeste is my favorite platformer ever. Still need some golden strawberries, nice to look forward to.
@mrMike I don't think Nintendo need any help defending their IP haha. This looks promising, though not the next-gen F-Zero we need. The track editor would be more appealing if there was online multiplayer.
Expect it to be very BotW heavy, with no set place in the timeline, certainly not one of the darker zelda stories. They're still testing the waters here, broadest possible appeal will be the top priority. Could be ok.
@LuigiBlood Exactly. And the Nintendo response is something like well that's how we want the games to be played. Completely ignoring the fact that it's an accessibility issue. I finally got hold of a 64 controller, turns out my youngest with a disability can't reach the Z button and control stick at the same time. No way to remap. And then not being able to remap a pro controller so goldeneye is basically unplayable, that's just insulting. My kids shouldn't have go to system settings and swap control sticks to make a 25 year old game playable.
I'd love to assume it will be backward compatible, but the switch online subscription drip feed makes me pretty cynical. The Wii Shop, launched 17 years ago, puts NSO to shame. Nintendo still makes unique games but they are definitely following some anti consumer industry trends. If there is BC, I wouldn't be surprised if it requires an add-on or subscription fee.
@sinndec the "no ethical consumption" bit is not a free pass from making informed decisions, or a reason to put down someone else's moral stance. Not sure what you mean about the devil thing. We're talking about this specific example, not claiming any other corporation is highly ethical. If someone wants to make a "lesser evil" judgement call, why would anyone discourage that?
Waiting for master mode to start on Tears, since I'm sure you'll have to start a new file like in BotW. Not a kid any more, I've got one playthrough in me for such a huge game. Probably at least 4 years from a new zelda anyway so no rush.
@Bass_X0 you're presenting your egoist philosophy as fact, and exposing an incredibly naïve understanding of world politics and economics. If that works for you, fine. I'll still check out the game.
@Bass_X0 pretty obnoxious to tell people what they should or shouldn't care about. Some people have moral lines. Maybe owners (whose human rights atrocities sure are meaningful and tangible to those affected) aren't something you personally take into consideration. Cool.

Just give me more powerpros. Haven't had much fun with an MLB game since All Star Baseball '99.
Re: Talking Point: Why Isn't Nintendo Revealing Its Partner Devs Before Launch?
Seems like a culture thing. If you do work for nintendo, all your work is NINTENDO'S.

Terarin games are always a good time! They get really cheap on Steam too.

Re: Poll: What Switch Online Rare Game Are You Playing This Weekend?
RC Pro-AM! Awesome game, played the hell out of it as a kid, had no idea it was Rare.
I wonder what 4 games will come out next year.

many attempts at this widescreen vertically scrolling aspect, almost always a disaster
Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown On Switch
Haven't thought about this franchise since the gamecube, pretty excited for this one (when it goes on sale.)
@Savage_Joe that's strange, the joycons are usually the fastest switch input device.

Re: Take-Two CEO On Backward Compatibility: "Give Consumers What They Want"
@Serpenterror if 3rd parties don't get a cut that's ridiculous. Publishers and gamers unite to demand better from Nintendo!
Re: Take-Two CEO On Backward Compatibility: "Give Consumers What They Want"
@Serpenterror yes I mean to compare to Virtual Console and NSO. Personally the online friend co-op stuff does not make up for the lack of games.
