@Stocksy it's time to start empowering people and not just infantalizing them. I'm not saying there aren't people that don't need help. But we have created a culture where people want to be the victim. There was a story from last week of college students at a 80k a year school feeling oppressed because a white man was hired to fix the radiator in their dorm.
@Mando44646 the push to make everything race conscious is political. In opposition to those that would rather race not be important. To be judged on merit and character rather than the color of our skin.
@XenoShaun true, what's an interesting consideration is they likely have the player data to make these decisions. I still think in a case where the gender isn't important to the story they want to tell they should make it open for player choice.
@Franklin next question... Are Italians white? That's my issue with all this. People start asking questions that don't matter and can lead to uncomfortable "purity" test situations.
@XenoShaun I'd disagree with the "bad to have female lead" with Tomb Raider actually being quite a successful property. But I agree that artists should feel free.
@nessisonett if you could explain to me what makes him a success then, why is he a model that others should follow? How could that lesson be applied to Mario or Zelda?
@chapu2006 I just don't understand what is wrong with Mario the way it is? I don't see anyone living in Wakanda outside of Wakandas and nobody has an issue with that.
Wow, entitlement runs deep. Six more characters are coming. It's okay that one of the 11 additional characters isn't your favorite. I think the character looks interesting.
This is why steam reviews are nice. You can see how long someone played the game. It would be great to have a verified purchased section for reviews somehow.
@Majora101 nailed it. Any question at all to the leftist ideology is met with accusations of all the “ism’s” and statements of privilege. I guess I am privileged, I’d rather try to think critically than subscribe to what a group teaches me to think.
Everyone has said or done something that will offend someone else. The difference is usually if you know about it or not. It is ridiculous to demand that everyone associate with to have never said or done something offensive to you.
I’d be interested if it is cross platform and you can play in private servers. The original sounded miserable that people could come and take all your stuff while you were logged out.
I did some quick math based off my halo MCC install on my Xbox. Assuming Zelda is a big game (13gb download) then to have comparable storage space to base console hard drives (as in ratio of games to total memory available) you should only have to invest in a 64 gb SD card max.
@earthboundlink I'm interested to see if Nintendo can do what the vita couldn't. Have a high specs handheld that can compete in the mobile market. I love my 3ds, and I look forward as much or more for their next iteration of handheld.
I'm surprised they haven't seen the success of hearthstone and done something similar with Pokemon. I think that game is an excellent model of what they're saying.
I didn't have much interest until now. I think this was the heart of Nintendo's E3 woes. Excellent games, just not really shown off. Thanks for the awesome preview!
I would love to see how they innovate, that being said I hope they also include what has come to be gaming at it's core. Their most successful generation is the one I never got into. Oh I enjoyed Mario galaxy, but I longed for normal controls. Gaming needs to be comfortable and having to wave my arms around was annoying. I really hope they deliver something that is new and fun, but also accessible to core gamers.
@ZeroZX-Dev I completely agree, I don't think there is anything terribly wrong, I think they just presented things poorly. The treehouse really got me excited for their games. Also they are clearly striving to listen to fans because we got earthbound beginnings. I think it's obvious Nintendo is holding out for NX though. I don't expect anything major we don't already know about until this mysterious NX is revealed.
I was initially disappointed there wasn't anything really exciting for me at E3 but then I saw tree house gameplay for this. So excited they nailed down the release date.
I've never played etrian or mystery dungeon but this game intrigues me. I really enjoyed the party customization of bravely default, is it at fun and deep in this game?
Honestly the more I think about it, the more I think a monster Hunter would be ideal. It's a character that would draw people to other exclusive Nintendo content, something that would be entirely unique and fun, and something that would be easy (legally) to get into the game.
@R-L-A-George I think the problem was less to do with religion being referenced in the game and more to do with it openly mocking a rather prominent sect of religion. I'm always glad to see Nintendo get more games but I don't think this fits their main audience.
The whole trailer I thought this was somehow a persona game. I'm a little disappointed in the direction they are taking. Doesn't look like something true to the fire-emblem franchise, starting with all females basically dressed as skimpy as possible.
I dream of a day when all Nintendo games run on similar architecture and their games will forever be playable. Imagine being able to play any game from any system. Honestly backwards compatibility is a major reason I love my 3ds and wii U so much. I missed out on the ds and wii era. I wish I had the GameCube library available to me.
@liveswired I too think they have an advantage because theyr're so good at tailoring games to hardware. That being said I have a hard time thinking I'd ever game significantly on my phone if only cause games suck the battery to a point where I risk not making it though the day.
@Hordak I'm this way still for consoles, just cause memory is limited and expanding it can be a pain. But I've gone all digital on my 3ds and I love it. Expanding was cheap and now I have tons of space and I can take all my games with me wherever I go.

Re: Blizzard Has Officially Renamed Overwatch's McCree
This is the dumbest thing.
Re: Soapbox: Indies Lead The Way But Nintendo Shows Progress Representing People Of Colour
@nessisonett haha he denies the climate how? Where? Or is he merely pointing out the data behind a lot of the panic.
Re: Soapbox: Indies Lead The Way But Nintendo Shows Progress Representing People Of Colour
@Damo not the piece, in your comment. You said everyone has a right to be represented visually in video games.
Re: Soapbox: Indies Lead The Way But Nintendo Shows Progress Representing People Of Colour
@Franklin I mean eventually that's where it has to go which is where those of us who don't care about skin tone already are.
Re: Soapbox: Indies Lead The Way But Nintendo Shows Progress Representing People Of Colour
@Damo you have a right to other peoples art to be adjusted to your liking? Seems kind of odd.
Re: Soapbox: Indies Lead The Way But Nintendo Shows Progress Representing People Of Colour
@Franklin and I have no issue with that. I just find it strange that a background characters skin color has that impact on people.
Re: Soapbox: Indies Lead The Way But Nintendo Shows Progress Representing People Of Colour
@Mando44646 the push to make everything race conscious is political. In opposition to those that would rather race not be important. To be judged on merit and character rather than the color of our skin.

Re: Soapbox: Indies Lead The Way But Nintendo Shows Progress Representing People Of Colour
@Balladeer so you care about this guy's article because of their skin color? That's my issue with all of this. Nobody's skin color should matter.
Re: Soapbox: Indies Lead The Way But Nintendo Shows Progress Representing People Of Colour
@Franklin next question... Are Italians white? That's my issue with all this. People start asking questions that don't matter and can lead to uncomfortable "purity" test situations.
Re: Soapbox: Indies Lead The Way But Nintendo Shows Progress Representing People Of Colour
@PaulBizkit Bingo. We demand perfect representation but at the end of the day we are all unique people part of the human family.
Re: Soapbox: Indies Lead The Way But Nintendo Shows Progress Representing People Of Colour

Re: Soapbox: Indies Lead The Way But Nintendo Shows Progress Representing People Of Colour
@Franklin because of the comments I see here. There are people saying Mario Kingdom is a problem because of the characters skin tone.
Re: Soapbox: Indies Lead The Way But Nintendo Shows Progress Representing People Of Colour
@nessisonett Miles Morales is tokenized spiderman... Not sure why people keep seeing that as a good thing.
Re: Soapbox: Indies Lead The Way But Nintendo Shows Progress Representing People Of Colour
@chapu2006 I just don't understand what is wrong with Mario the way it is? I don't see anyone living in Wakanda outside of Wakandas and nobody has an issue with that.
Re: Soapbox: Indies Lead The Way But Nintendo Shows Progress Representing People Of Colour
So why do we need to ask for representation? Why not let people tell the stories they want to tell with the characters they want to tell it with?
Re: Soapbox: I Miss My Friends, But I Don't Want To Kill Them
@KougerKing unfortunately that's the reality of living in Canada. But I agree. Sounds like a distopian nightmare.
Re: Review: Cyber Shadow - A Blisteringly Brilliant Action Platformer
Are we talking more or less difficult than shovel knight? Sounds like more to me.
Re: Review: Green Hell - A Brutal And Rewarding Open-World Survival Sim
@Menardi agreed. Always weird when someone supports the idea that someone's race should determine where they are allowed to go.
Re: Mini Review: Heroes of Hammerwatch - Ultimate Edition - A Rollicking Rogue-Lite, Best Enjoyed With Friends
@laytonoid wow that is really too bad. My wife loved Hammerwatch and I was hoping to play with her. Does it have crossplay at least then?
Re: Mini Review: Heroes of Hammerwatch - Ultimate Edition - A Rollicking Rogue-Lite, Best Enjoyed With Friends
Wait, is there local co-op like the original?
Re: Fire Emblem's Byleth Confirmed As Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's 5th DLC Fighter

Re: Pixel-Heavy Fantasy Adventure Hammerwatch Is Storming The Switch eShop Next Week
@kukabuksilaks I hope cross play is implemented. I'd definitely double dip. My wife loves this game and playing it on consoles would be amazing.

Re: Fresh Details Emerge For Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem
@BulbasaurusRex
It might have something to do with the extremely over sexualized young women in the game.

Re: First Impressions: Our Maiden Flight In Star Fox Zero Prompts Mixed Emotions
@HollywoodHogan
Honestly I love the game pad for virtual console gameboy games. That's about it though.
Re: Review: Paper Mario (Wii U eShop / N64)
This is one of my favorite games of all time. My only issue with it is that it's hard to find something quite as enjoyable once completed.

CHRONO! Or I'd take Shovel Knight
Re: Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem Wii U Crossover is Finally Shown

Re: Poll: Where Do You Stand On DeNA, Smart Device Games, Nintendo 'Membership' And The Nintendo NX?
@Hordak I'm this way still for consoles, just cause memory is limited and expanding it can be a pain. But I've gone all digital on my 3ds and I love it. Expanding was cheap and now I have tons of space and I can take all my games with me wherever I go.
Re: Nintendo's First Smartphone Title Could Launch As Soon As This Year
I could see Pokemon in some form. Whether it's shuffle, the card game, Pokemon snap, or even something like red and blue version.
