Not long ago, a Nintendo exec responded to those “rumors” as being “not even close”. And still, those same rumors keep coming. WHO says it’s even the same form factor or is it even called Switch??
@BinaryMessiah and whose fault is that? Both 3DS and WiiU are not worth a PS4 console. Nintendo is accepting its defeat in this area. Also lots are still on their 3DS with really great games which is one of the most sold handhelds of all time (over 75M). Just saying…
Isn’t it too early? It’s only one console generation prior to the Switch. PS4 is still holding on to its online play, why can’t Nintendo?
On a side note, I think on April 8th will be announced the next gen Nintendo console.
@johnedwin agreed. Still, they won’t run as good as the next gen ps5/xbox. But it’s fine, it was always the case with Nintendo, it’s not supposed to run games like Sony or Microsoft’s, it’s supposed to make fun games like Mario and Zelda franchises; always been the case, always will be. The legendary Wii never came close to run games as well as the PS3, still it sold like hot cakes back in the day. Nintendo will invent a new console that will be unique in its design, have a very different controller and new games library. At Nintendo, graphics and raw power were never a priority; pure different gaming experience is. If they prioritized graphics over fun gaming experience, they would have lost against Sony (even Xbox is losing even though more powerful). I learned that to have the full gaming experience, one should have a Nintendo Switch along with a PS5 or XboxX; you’ll have the best of both worlds. Cheers
@MontyCircus I understand your point, but who says we’re getting a Switch 2 anyway, not something else entirely like history taught us. There was never a second generation of the same product at Nintendo. What they’ll do is enter a new generation if the Switch’s over, and that’ll be it.
@johnedwin even if a new switch will come out, it will never surpass the power of a PS5 let alone a potential PS5 pro version. Let Nintendo keep what they do best: create excellent software and first party games from their existing franchises without the need of a new hardware. Who cares what everyone is nagging about the week hardware, their games never lag or show any weaknesses, so what for.
IMO as it is my case, I have the Switch to play Nintendo first party games and it does it marvelously. I will never get The Switch to buy games like MK1, Hogwarts Legacy, COD (soon to be … or not) … those games are made for the PS5/XBX. I myself have the OLED version with games like Mario Kart 8, Super Mario Bros Wonder, Odyssey, Smash and the list goes on. Those games are so good on Switch that I frankly don’t see a reason they should upgrade. I have Hogwarts Legacy on PS5 and it’s a dream on it. It’s like a Land Rover Defender; it’s an excellent off-roader and it is what it does best, but when it comes to on road comfort, it’s debatable.
Wow! After what they did an excellent job with Rambo and the terminator, this is the worst and very far from JCVD. I had to read the text twice to make sure this is supposed to be the correct actor and not some extra from one of his movies
My OLED Switch is pretty much perfect to my eyes. All it might need is a bit of processor upgrade to handle 3rd party titles like MK1. But to go back to an LCD “to cut costs”??? Why would I want to move from OLED to LCD?!
When we have the expansion pack membership and have “access” to the DLC, would the latter be still available even after expiration of the membership? I mean, is it like I purchased the DLC or is it on “loan” with the membership only?
It’s what makes the charm of Nintendo console or handheld (or in this case both); they never get old, they get “experience”. Lots of people keep their old Nintendo and keep playing like it’s day 1. None other than Nintendo can achieve that
They just launched a couple of special edition Switch OLED and they’re just getting started with Zelda editions and more to come I’m sure. I don’t reckon anything is in the horizon still. They have a pretty busy year with the Mario movie, new major games like Zelda, I think they’ll keep the new console for another year and it’ll be a whole new generation. They perfected the Switch with the OLED and fixed some day 1 glitches like the screen and the back stand.
Being a collector and like to display them alongside my Switch, I’m mostly physical. I do intend to buy digital sometimes but prefer small games over AAA titles since we have very slow internet connection and sometimes it takes days to download a game.
Zelda books are among the best. Very creative stories, beautiful art, great locations in the different parts of Hyrule. Not to mention all the Characters and monsters of the Zelda universe. Heck, it’s possible to create a console just for Zelda.
I wonder if they ever make the 3DS eshop like the Wii U's: meaning all existing titles will be downloaded as well. Because in some countries (like mine), not every title is available for retail.
well, for one thing, everything in USA and Canada are cheaper than the rest of the world. Heck, maybe the 3DS at Canada/USA is even cheaper than Japan. lol
My best Nintendo moment of the year was passing a whole level on Super Mario Galaxy 2 as rock Mario from beginning till the end... Non stop! That was one amazing level!
