I hope Nintendo releases Bayo1 on the eshop a few weeks before bayo2 comes out.... I'd like to play the first one again before diving into part 2.... And if they come out at the same time I might not be able to resist playing part 2 first.
So sell the first one on the eshop for $30 and it automatically gives you part two for $30 off... Effectively making two games for the price of one... Get on it Nintendo!!
@rjejr I think the reason we aren't hearing much about the story in Bayo2 is because the flack Platinum took over revealing too much of W101's story in the Nintendo direct..... While I absolutely loved W101 from a gameplay perspective, the first few levels I almost had the dialogue memorized and could recite it on my first play through.
@jrob23 Nintendo already proved this E3 that they don't care what the sales say, they will continue to support their flailing device.... Ninty isn't Sony, they won't ignore the platform because it's underperforming coughcough-Vita-coughcough
@Yorumi you are seriously comparing just any platformer with DK or Mario?
This is what I find funny about Sony fanboys. They think because Sony decides to make a platformer as an after thought and gives it a shoe string budget it's the samething as Mario. You can easily tell Sony doesn't give a rip about alternative genres, they toss a few dollars to have them made only to check a box so they can say "we have that too" but the quality shows in spades, or lack thereof.
Case in point, look at two of Sony's kart racers. Both look like a horrid hot mess and run at slideshow 25-28fps. Yet Sony's dudebro genres of first and third person shooters they dump hundreds of millions of dollars in producing. It really shows you where their priorities lie and it's not in any genres I find interesting.
Sony doesn't want my money is what it is. They want the dudebro market as shown by the budget they give games like Shadowfall and Uncharted. LBP, Ratchet get table scraps. None of Sony's alternative genre games even come close to the amount of production quality seen in Nintendo's top first party franchises. Priorities.
Indies is at an even bigger disadvantage, which is to be expected, they don't have the cash of Nintendo or Sony. I love indie games and I have hundreds of dollars of indie games on my PC, but no offense to indie devs, they don't hold a candle to the sheer inventiveness of SM3DW where every other level a new gameplay mechanic is introduced. That costs money and creativity to fill an entire game with hundreds of new ideas, and so far Nintendo is the only company doing that with platformers.
@electrolite77 How are you getting ripped off? Nobody is forcing you to purchase it twice.
If you like how Sony does things, go buy from them, why do you waste your time making comments in an internet thread? Nobody really cares where you buy your software from.
I've been looking forward to this game for over a year now. It looks like Super Mario Pinball Galaxy.
This was my most anticipated indie game... soon as this releases I'll be looking towards Festival of Magic, Hat in Time, Girl and the Robot and Forgotten Memories. There is some seriously great content coming from indies.
@sinalefa The live press conferences of Sony and Microsoft is strictly for the press and gaming media.
The media sees themselves as the purveyors of information in the gaming world. In their world everything must be delivered to them and they will tell the fans.
Nintendo bucks that trend and goes directly to their fans. And the media hates it... hence all of the nasty articles towards Nintendo we have seeing the past 24+ months. I think Nintendo has the right approach, regardless to how intense the spoiled temper tantrum of the games media is.
@NImH It was in pretty bad form to ask about FE, AW and SMT/FE at this press conference. It was supposed to be all about their new IP.
And the media being what they are had the nerve to go there.... If I was the devs I'd probably throw the towel in.... They get BEGGED to make a new IP. They do, and while the reveal it, instantly the fanboys in the press starts asking questions about remakes and sequels. Unbelievable.
I'm hyped about getting a free copy of Bayonetta 1. I was one of those people port begging... but I was begging with the intention of paying $40-$60 to have that pleasure. Now I can get it free with my copy of Bayo2? Thank you Nintendo and Platinum for my early xmas present
@CliffordB Wii U version of Bayo1 will have Nintendo related costumes for Bayo to wear.... in the digital event they showed a princess peach outfit, link and a samus suit for bayo to wear... I would imagine they would include more.
@Tony_342 I want to smoke what Intelligent Systems smoked to come up with this game idea.
With how good Fire Emblem Awakening turned out, I think IS has deserved the benefit of the doubt on this..... Also early development never looks pretty. I rather wait until a game is almost ready for release before criticizing it. But then again strategy/rpg games are not about graphics.
People are excited because of the new mechanics... Nobody has seen a shooter that is even close to this...... Turning into a squid to swim through the entire map is certainly new.. Its going to open up a lot of new gameplay ideas and strategy to the worn out/boring genre.... plus with that Nintendo charm, its adorable beyond words.
@Action51 sorry to burst your bubble but I despise conservatives and republicans almost as much as the Marxist currently in power, so try again.
I find it amusing you think this group is there for the betterment of society and not their own ambitions of power and money. A global tax has been on their wish list for decades, no conspiracy needed, they are even open and honest about it. You should spend some time reading what the UN does and the different resolutions they pass on a yearly basis. Im amazed at the amount of people who don't read and act shocked when they hear this "no way, black helicopters, nerf"
@ULTRA-64 it's not exactly free.... You download the game but need to use IAP to unlock levels past the first few levels....... I downloaded it on iOS for free, played it for about 5 minutes and logged in to the Nintendo eshop and bought the Wii U version. Digging the relaxing music.
@erv I recommend it... For only being $4 its worth it.... Just the music alone IMO is worth the price of admission.
My only complaint is you have to use headphones... I have this great sound system hooked up to my TV/Wii U and would love to use it... So I emailed the Devs this past weekend and they said they are working on it so they can patch it in.
If the UN gets their wish to have their global energy taxes, which will in turn double and triple electricity costs in developed nations, this would be a selling point.... But until the radicals achieve that (let's hope they fail miserably) probably isn't worth a bullet point yet.
@memoryman3 what a silly thing to say. All retail and commercial games are created for the purpose of making money, because that's what businesses do, make money. I know, earth shattering stuff here, companies try to make money.
They create a product that people may want to purchase. Is there anything wrong or inheritantly bad about trying to leverage a product to make a profit? The allure of making a profit has led to some very interesting and useful inventions.... Without the motivations of profit, cars, computers, and even video games would have never been invented if it wasn't for the desire for someone to make a profit somewhere. Profit and greed has created so many great and amazing things in our world that just wouldn't be possible in a Marxist/progressive environment where everything is controlled and run by government.
A seperate question. Why are so many gamers anti-capitalist and Marxist? I always see comments on video game sites where gamers just loathe companies who make money, when it's that desire for money that creates the motivation and willingness for a company to want to invest the capital necessary to make a high quality product that people want to purchase. This entire hobby wouldn't even exist without the desire to make lots and lots of money. Profit is good for the video game industry, without it the industry wouldn't even exist.
@k8sMum in what way does Nintendo have discriminatory policies? Have you seen Nintendo's corporate policies and procedures? Did it have bigoted language in it?
Psssst. Just to let you in a on secret, not including a group or demographic isn't discriminatory, it's not racist and it's not bigoted. To suggest otherwise is the pinnacle of absurdity.
Buy it up because this will be the first and last Tomodachi game to be localized for western markets.... Also other Japanese publishers other than Nintendo will be very very careful which titles they localize from now on, every gaming company in Japan saw the childish temper tantrum being thrown and will be adding it as a factor alongside potential sales when deciding on localizing future titles. And that's the real life consequences of #Miiquality
If Atlus pulls out of localizing games for western markets because of this, watch out, I may go postal.
About dang time. I've been wanting a quality MMO/RPG on Wii U.... I know it will be expensive as heck to localize this particular game with all the dialog, but localizing is much cheaper then making a new game. So might as well pay to localize it and rake in a decent profit even if it doesn't sell very well.
@midnafanboy nothing messed up about it. We have been hearing the pedantic port begging for over a year now. It's time to put on their big boy pants and buy a Wii U if they love the franchise HALF as much as they claim they do in online forums.
The notion that a game like this shouldn't be on a Nintendo system is complete and utter bull&&@$ and the cry babies need to get over it.
Edit: I take that back, we are now in year 2 of hearing people whine for a Xbox or playstation port.... I'm also willing to bet the majority howling never played the first, they are just mad Nintendo is getting a hardcore title they used to have. Can't have that now can we? If you guys would have actually bought the first one SEGA wouldn't have canned the sequel due to poor sales on both 360/ps3.
He was told twice that he is wrong, so if I had to use humor to reach him, so be it..... And toughin up cupcake, I never insulted you.
@mystman12 agreed. But the Nintendo haters on NeoGAF will some how turn it into Nintendo hates the consumer and it will become another one of those false common beliefs spread about Nintendo that people believe is true, like if your system is stolen or broken you lose all of your purchases, surprisingly that lie is still alive.
This will help shred the belief the system is slow to use..... That's if the media will ever tell the world about it....
I think the media loves to kick Nintendo while they are down ever since Nintendo decided to go above the journalists heads and directly to the fans with these Nintendo directs.
@Emblem I don't think we will know the details of the contract... Either there was a clause that said if WiiU doesn't sell x amount of systems by certain date they can pull out/refund the cash..... Or Nintendo let them out because of their close relationship. Or they could have traded with another contract to release another game exclusive to Wii U when the sales hit such and such target. Or Ubisoft could have approached Nintendo and said "we need to get out, we will continue port our 360/ps3 multiplatform titles to WiiiU"
@Daemonite your reaction tells me it was indeed funny.
Bayo2 going anywhere but to a Nintendo system is nothing but desperate and futile wishful thinking of Sony and Microsoft owners. It's just not happening. No platform holder in the world would lay down 40+ million dollars to make a game only to let it move to another platform. It's just not happening.
@Daemonite no, it's not the same thing. Ubisoft was still publishing Rayman Legends. Nintendo didn't have anything to do with its development or publishing. Nintendo only entered an exclusivisity contract that would expire after x amount of months and Ubisoft would be free to put it on other systems...... EA has the same deal with Microsoft on Titanfall, after it expires it will end up on PS4.. This very basic and common in the industry.
The distinction with bayo2 was Sega canned the idea completely. Nintendo offered to pay 100% of its development in return to own the entire rights to the game.
@Daemonite it's not the studios decision of where the game goes, Nintendo owns the rights 100% to Bayonetta 2....
@Rayman Legends Nintendo didnt pay for the development. They paid for exclusivisity, which is a HUGE distinction. Ubisoft owns the game 100% so try again.... The money was refunded and the contract backed out.
The difference is Nintendo paid very little to try and get Rayman Legends exclusive with some sort of clause in the contract that let's Ubi out of it sales don't reach a target... In the case of buying the entire development process of Bayo2, Nintendo put down 10's of millions of dollars, they would never spend that type of coin on a game unless they could control everything about its sales.
@Daemonite lol, can you name the last game that Nintendo paid for development on that winded up on another platform? I can only come up with a really bad port of Donkey Kong for the Atari back in the early 80's......... That was before Nintendo had ever made a console.
Wonderful 101 was a game that Nintendo paid P* to make last year. It's still exclusive to Wii U. I wouldn't hold my breath for a port to any other system except a future Nintendo console..... Same goes to. Bayo2, Nintendo would never let a game they paid 100% for go to another companies system. Even if it bombs (most likely won't break 300k copies), the point is to have as many exclusives as possible. Games like this and Hyrule warriors isn't the sales of the games, it's about making the floundering platform desirable. You only do that through getting exclusive content.
@SanderEvers app doesn't have to be offline.... Most apps in iOS and android are simple web based (html5). The point of an actual app is to make it visible to people without a WiiU/MK8 but do have smartphones when they visit their App Store and see it near the top if various lists.... By just having a link nobody but WiiU owners will check it out.
Probably get both versions just because of Oculus Rift support.... For the PS4 to run this in VR they would have to tone the graphics wayyyyyyyy back to the PS2 era. 1080p/95fps and 70 hertz minimum to get presence, I just don't see a midrange GPU from 2012 pulling that off without some severely low poly counts and washed out textures... Not to mention those jaguars aren't meant to do floating point operations very well(like, at all)
Iwata is smart to expand Nintendo into other markets. Console gaming is becoming more niche. I don't think this generation will sell anywhere near the consoles sold last gen, which means the video game pie will get smaller.....
Mobile gaming will eventually take over as the power continues to double every year. Dedicated console owners don't like to hear that but that's the truth. Tablets/smartphones output to 1080p and can use Bluetooth controllers, so the idea that mobile games are hindered by touch controls isn't true, and as third party developers decide to target the billions of people on smart devices vs. the 100-150 million who buy dedicated consoles, the quality of mobile games will continue to rise.
Console gamers are a dying sector of the video game market. The vast majority of x360 and PS3 sales came from the casual market. They bought the snot out of the ps3/x360 in the end of the generation because the prices came down to impulse buy range, but with smart devices, how many of those casuals will feel their tablet or smartphone is good enough?
It seems Iwata sees this coming and is planning on opening up Nintendo to newer markets early to help subsidize their video game business..

Re: Bayonetta 2 Listed for Summer Release in Japan
Re: Bayonetta 2 Listed for Summer Release in Japan
Re: Nintendo Reveals 'Mario Kart TV' Web App in Financial Results Briefing
@SanderEvers app doesn't have to be offline.... Most apps in iOS and android are simple web based (html5). The point of an actual app is to make it visible to people without a WiiU/MK8 but do have smartphones when they visit their App Store and see it near the top if various lists.... By just having a link nobody but WiiU owners will check it out.
Re: Weirdness: The GlomTom is a Cushion for Resting Your Arms When Gaming, and Needs Your Money
@Prof_Clayton no, you're not the only one. But I would never buy this for $65+
A comment I said about this kickstarter in another site:
This guy may have a market in the $10-$15-$20 range, but not what he is asking for.
Re: Infinity Runner Heading To Wii U eShop
Now I have a dilemma. Buy on Wii U or PC?
Probably get both versions just because of Oculus Rift support.... For the PS4 to run this in VR they would have to tone the graphics wayyyyyyyy back to the PS2 era. 1080p/95fps and 70 hertz minimum to get presence, I just don't see a midrange GPU from 2012 pulling that off without some severely low poly counts and washed out textures... Not to mention those jaguars aren't meant to do floating point operations very well(like, at all)
Re: Satoru Iwata Speaks Of The Need To "Redefine" Nintendo's Position In The Entertainment Industry

@jariw shigeru was a CEO? Are you sure about that?
