I'm actually really excited for this. The concept sounds pretty cool.
Player 1 will be directing where the units on the ground will operate with the gamepad and the other players will be controlling that unit from the ground level with another controller.
@Peach64 that's what I'm guessing, they usually dedicate an entire direct to a to a title that will release in the next few months. Hence why this is surprising. I was expecting a MK8 focused direct.
"Nintendo's dedication to maintaining 60fps — as also seen in Super Mario 3D World — should be commended, as it makes a significant difference to the feel of the game"
And this is why Nintendo is the only systems I'll ever purchase to put next to my PC. PS4 and xBone are trapped in the 30fps ghetto 95% of the time like last gen.... Crappy frame rate just obliterates the gameplay. Microsoft/Sony gamers don't care about gameplay, they spend all of their time on websites arguing over graphics, so Sony and Microsoft oblige that by murdering gameplay (frame rate) to push the visuals as far as it can go (even bringing a game down into the 20's fps is acceptable to them, cough cough TLOU)
@epicdude12302 no, the gamepad has nothing to do with third party support. Any dev or publisher who says that are avoiding the real reason because the real reason is very bad PR.
It's much more diplomatic to use the gamepad as an escape goat than to say "We aren't going to port our game because we don't think it will make enough of a profit for us to make it worth our effort"
Third party support is in direct correlation with how little third party games sell on Wii U. Want someone to blame for lack of third party support blame the 4.8 million Wii U owners who don't buy third party games, while a consistent 100k-200k of owners that do buy.
If most of these 3rd party ports sold as much as many copies as SM3DW did, 3rd party devs and publishers would be tripping all over themselves to put their games on the system. But like all Nintendo systems since the N64 third party games just don't sell very well
I will buy it at the first price drop.... I think the publisher needs to realize that western audiences are hesitant to pay that much for a titles without ever playing one in the series before. Sell it for $15-$20 and I'll bite to check it out. Same could be said for Senran Kagura Burst Never played the series, so it's like purchasing blind.
Atlus does tons of half off sales and I jumped right in to see if it lives up to the hype (in Atlus's case everyone of their RPG's have been a joy to play so far)
The gay marriage thing was a glitch and it was patched in Japan already. That's why it will not be in the NA or EU version, so you can shutdown the foxnews and conservative witch hunt now.

PS4 version? Snicker. Looks like a last gen game in 1080p. I bet it also struggles to run at 30fps even with the significant asset reduction. I don't see how people enjoy getting locked in the 30fps ghetto... I'll wait for this in a sale on PC when the modding community gets a hold of it and fixes any downgrade issues (if there is any on PC)
@PinkSpider most companies want to get paid for their work... Sega is doing free dlc to try and entice Nintendo fans to buy their game because it didn't sell very well..... I didn't bite with Yoshi dlc, but I think I will for Zelda dlc. Now to find it on sale. Sega would sell a bunch if they announced a sale at the same time
@Prof_Elvin_Gadd my god I'm bawling laughing at the idiots who backed Oculus that thought they are owed even a dime of that 2 billion. With kickstarter, you are backing a dream, not buying equity in a company... After Oculus raised the original 2.6 million, that money was strictly to build a proof of concept OR, and that was completed already. Now to build the dev kits they need a bigger infusion of cash. So that means venture capitalist. So Palmer Luckey took that prototype to big investors (90+ million in investor cash infusion) and that was strictly to build dev kits to get developers to make content and begin working on a retail product.
Now they want to make the consumer version. Without facebook's backing the consumer version would be lower specs (only 1080p and 75 hertz refresh rate), cost more money to us, have supply issues upon release and a release date 2 or more years away.... With Facebook jumping in, OR will have the money to mass produce these things, which means much better specs (1440p FTW and 90 hertz refresh rate), cheaper costs and the ability to meet demand.
For VR, this is huge and will finally bring consumer level affordable VR. Facebook bought them because they think it will be revolutionary, and what they want to do with OR is still 10, 15 or 20 years down the road, plenty of time for competitors to offer us gamers a gaming only VR solution. But until Facebook utilizes this tech for their goals! we will get at least a decade of VR gaming out of the rift.
@ACK Uhm, why is that bad form? He's an indie developer not EA/Ubisoft/Activision. He's making a console game, which means a higher production value than a 3DS game, which means it costs more.

@kereke12 pssst, hey Nintendo doesn't need to market Most Wanted U, nor should they.... Most Wanted already had a MASSIVE publisher backing it, maybe you heard of them? They are called EA.
See, part of a publishers responsibility is to provide proper advertising for a product. Last I checked, Nintendo didn't publish Most Wanted, EA did.
If EA can't be arsed to promote their own game, why should Nintendo? Why should Nintendo spend their own money trying to make EA's game a success? Why should Nintendo spend money so EA can make a bigger profit?
Most gamers don't understand a single thing about the industry works, let alone how businesses operate in general.
@whodatninja Nintendo has ZERO culpability in marketing EA's game...... EA is a MASSIVE publisher. Nintendo only assists smaller publishers and devs even though they don't have any responsibility.
Nintendo did a great job marketing Wonderful 101. They gave it it's very own Nintendo direct. They gave the game prime real estate on the eshop for 2 weeks..... Did you expect them to drop 10's of millions of dollars on TV commercials? You are insane if you think they should have. The game as brilliant as it was, was not a system seller. It was an experimental new IP, nothing that was going to sell gangbusters even with a million dollars worth of commercials.
@Frapp nothing can be done in the future. It's not Nintendo's responsibility to market EA's game.. I appreciate Alex and his teams effort to make this great game, but his anger is misdirected.
If EA can't be bothered to market their own game, why would Nintendo drop a big bag of money on advertising EA's game? EA gets the vast majority of the profits, Nintendo gets a small licensing fee. Why should Nintendo spend all the licensing fees on advertising EA's game? EA is a big boy publisher, they can market their own game. Nintendo has ZERO culpability here.
@banacheck not at all. I'm just enjoying the butthurt with all the boasting that has gone on about how superior WD on PS4 will be and now the end results look like a PS3 game
@gamer83 killzone was designed from the ground up with the tablet CPU in mind(it still didn't reach the reveal quality). Watch Dogs was designed with a standard CPU
@Gamer83 perhaps the PS4 just isn't as powerful as Sony claimed. Their claims of 1.8 teraflops is impossible. My 1.5 teraflop GPU plays Assassins Creed 4 in full 1080p/60fps. The PS4 struggles to hold to 28fps..... It wouldn't be the first time Sony embellished on the power of their new console. At the PS3 reveal they claimed the ps3 would perform at 1 teraflops. It barely reached 17% of that.
@Rafie has nothing to do with me.... You Sony fanboys droned on and on how vastly superior watch dogs is going to be on the PS4 and how it's close to the PC and now we find out it's struggling to be passable for a PS3 game.
It's all because the PS4 is crap and Sony is selling it like its high end tech. The Sony fans don't understand a single thing about hardware, so they eat up the PR BS like its skittles
The whole project is screwed. The PS4 version is nothing more than an uprezzed last gen version..... What we saw at E3 and the PS4 reveal was a target render running on a high end PC.... When Sony delivered the vastly underpowered PS4, Ubisoft had to make MAJOR and SIGNIFICANT downgrades to accommodate the lackluster tech in the PS4
I want to play this but not $30... Sigh. You are trying to build an audience outside Japan, you have to price it to sell on an impulse.... After you get the west hooked, then jack up the price.
Same with Senran Kagura Burst. You need to build an audience.
Both of these titles are mine as soon as they go on sale. But $30 is steep for a handheld series I never played before.
@Peach64 I don't expect any gamers to understand the VG industry. Its completely hopeless. They still think Bayonetta 2 is a Wii U exclusive out of Platinum Game's choice and a big f u to their fans on 360/ps3, and not by necessity of keeping the project alive.
@johndevine Why would someone buy a PS4 to play watch dogs when it will be VASTLY superior even on a low-end budget gaming PC. (1080p/60fps vs Sub-1080p and less than ~30fps typical on Sony/Microsoft hardware)
Nintendo did an excellent job in utilizing the gamepad in Nintendoland, Game and Wario, Wind Waker, and Pikmin 3
Pikmin 3, Wind Waker, Batman and Zombi U more then proved its worth.
Using the gamepad for planning out waypoints in Pikmin 3 was brilliant. The viability of a second screen in RTS games is now a proven concept. Being able to multitask is everything in RTS games.
I'm still waiting for a dev to tackle an RPG next. The touch screen would be perfect for managing spells/macros that was only possible on a PC previously.... And that's where the gamepad should shine as its a substitute for having a million controls like we do on PC. It's not Nintendo's fault 3rd party's aren't very creative.
@ToniK Why would you be 'forced' to buy a PS4 ever? The vast majority of 3rd party titles are coming to xBone(laff barely stronger than Wii U), Steambox and PC. There should be no reason why you would be forced to purchase one.

@Rafie that's the spirit, we should rejoice because all versions of the game are going to be terrible.

The new PS4 trailer for watch dogs shows a significant downgrade.

Re: Yumi's Odd Odyssey Casting Into North American Waters this 20th March
I want to play this but not $30... Sigh. You are trying to build an audience outside Japan, you have to price it to sell on an impulse.... After you get the west hooked, then jack up the price.
Same with Senran Kagura Burst. You need to build an audience.
Both of these titles are mine as soon as they go on sale. But $30 is steep for a handheld series I never played before.

Re: Valve's Gabe Newell Thinks Super Mario 64 Is Just Swell
@Peach64 I don't expect any gamers to understand the VG industry. Its completely hopeless. They still think Bayonetta 2 is a Wii U exclusive out of Platinum Game's choice and a big f u to their fans on 360/ps3, and not by necessity of keeping the project alive.
Re: Watch_Dogs Wii U 2014 Release a "Possibility", Bucharest Studio to Make "Good Use" of the System
@johndevine Why would someone buy a PS4 to play watch dogs when it will be VASTLY superior even on a low-end budget gaming PC. (1080p/60fps vs Sub-1080p and less than ~30fps typical on Sony/Microsoft hardware)

Interesting... I like the price point, so I may just pick it up just cuz
Re: Nicalis Boss Tyrone Rodriguez Thinks The Wii U GamePad Is "A Waste Of Time And Resources"
Re: Nintendo and Retro Studios Speak on Resistance to Going Mobile
@LeasTwanteD no, Tropical Freeze wouldn't have been able to run on the 3DS. That dynamic camera would bring the device to its knees.
Re: Latest PS4 Sales Figures Take it Past Wii U Life-to-Date Q3 Total
@ToniK Why would you be 'forced' to buy a PS4 ever? The vast majority of 3rd party titles are coming to xBone(laff barely stronger than Wii U), Steambox and PC. There should be no reason why you would be forced to purchase one.
Re: Let's Gaze With Admiration At Five New Courses for Mario Kart 8
@OorWullie Wut? How can you not have a 3DS by now? Its only the best gaming device to be released in the last 3 years.
