Re: Feature: Best Game Boy Advance (GBA) Games

Sad that I sold my original GBA shortly after I got it back in the day due to a bit of financial hardship. Recently managed to pick up an SP (Spongebob Version) and a couple of games and looking to start building the collection that I didn't manage to back then. This list seems as good a place as any to start - already got AstroBoy and Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance on there; only 48 more to go!

Re: Panic Button Explains Why DOOM Eternal's Cutscenes Run At 20fps On Switch

Regarding the issue of the physical copy (or lack thereof), is there difference with the bandwidth of the cart compared to the internal memory or internal SD card? Just wondered if there was a hardware issue that was preventing it running from a cart; a bit like how the XBox Series consoles will only run Next Gen games from the internal SSD, or if it was a purely business decision.

@Anti-Matter My daughter asked for My Universe: Teacher for Christmas and hasn't even looked at it since she briefly played it on Christmas Day. I think she enjoyed it, and it seemed a decent enough game but she only gets limited playtime on Switch and didn't want to cut into Animal Crossing time It's become a bit of a routine; according to the parental controls app she hasn't missed a day on New Horizons since Mid-June, and only around 10-12 days total since she got it the week after release.

Re: The Girl From Arkanya Is A Treasure-Hunting Adventure Inspired By Classic 2D Zelda Titles

I get that the Zelda series is considered one of the best, although I've only actually played Phantom Hourglass on DS (and got bored of it), but it seems that every game that bears even the slightest resemblance to Zelda; either gameplay or artstyle gets labelled "Zelda-like" on here in a way that doesn't really happen with other games (admittedly the Kickstarter page for this game says trying to be Zelda like).

Re: Hori Releases Accessibility Controller For The Nintendo Switch

@StefanN As a parent of a disabled child I can tell you first hand that adding the word "Accessible" to almost anything guarantees the price doubles (at least). £180 for the controller, but assuming it doesn't come with the joystick or oversized buttons either and those things are pricey. Recently looked into getting my son a joystick and button combo as a mouse replacement for PC and similar buttons to those in the pic were about £40 each. So depending on how many buttons or sticks you need this can easily cost £500+ by the time you've set it up for your particular needs.

Ended up using a cheap 3rd party Xbox controller and joy2key software to replicate the mouse. Works ok for a fraction of the price.

Re: Video: Does Cloud Gaming Work On The Nintendo Switch?

dmcc0

@BlueSky Given there is a massive push towards renewable energy at the moment, extra electricity usage not so much of an issue.
Even then I'd guess the extra power used in cloud gaming compares favourably to the amount of energy used in physical gaming, where you have to manufacture the actual media it's stored on, the packaging (plastic game case), packaging for transport to retail outlets. Fuel used to transport, fuel used to get the game to you; either a courier if you buy online, or transport to the store if you're buying in person.

Re: Haunted Hallows Celebrates Its Rocket League Return With Ghostbusters

@LatsaSpege Items are unlocked via the various challenges. Some are free, while others are only available with Rocket Pass or bought with points. Once you've unlocked an item it'll usually ask if you want to equip it immediately. If not you can just go to the garage later and equip any of your unlocked items there.

With the recent Fortnite challenges for example, you could unlock quite a few items for free, including the Battle Bus. They were pretty easy to get, and each challenge told you how to unlock the item and whether you needed Rocket Pass to do so.

Re: PETA Isn't Happy With Animal Crossing's Blathers, Or His Fish-Trapping Museum

So it's just the sealife they have an issue with? What about the bug section of the museum or do bugs not matter to them? Maybe that's next weeks video?

At least Blathers only takes one of each species. What about Tommy and Timmy? Those two will literally buy anything I hand them; fish, bugs, trees, trash, weeds... What are they doing with those pockets full of fish and bugs they buy from me? I reckon PETA are targeting the wrong person here...

Re: Pokémon Support Explains What Happens When Your Premium Home Plan Expires

Just imported all my Pokemon from a long-abandoned Pokemon Bank and it worked fine. It's at least a couple of years since I paid for a sub and I didn't even need a 3ds (good job, as I sold it about 6 months ago as it was just gathering dust) as the NNID is linked to my Nintendo account. Unfortunately, there were no particularly good Pokemon in the Bank
