Re: Rumour: Immortals Fenyx Rising Spin-Off Will Be "Less Of A Copy Of Breath Of The Wild"

This game clicked with me in a way BOTW still hasn't (still trying after all this time too. I really loved Immortals. I think the storytelling and attempt at humor was really top notch.

Gameplay was great. First game I've actually loved and looked forward to the combat on. Amazing set of options on what you can toggle. Loved the leveling up system and I looked forward to getting the resources to level up.The puzzles in the world were spot on. But the vaults got old. They got hard just for the sake of it instead of advancing gameplay.

This game truly rose to one of my all time favorites though. And I thought it looked truly beautiful on the Switch, and primarily played it on my old 65 inch plasma. I did start the game a long time after all the patches had been applied. DLC was just so so though.

@Teksetter ColecoVision has always been one of my favorite consoles. Amazing memories of playing it when it came out. Still have mine, complete in box with my games and super action controllers. Last year I found an original magazine ad for the system, had it blown up to poster size, and framed it. Such nostolgia.

@ozyr @ozyr @Freek pretty cool! I'll never forget hanging out at the arcade in the mall. Loved the rows of Pinball machines in the back. But all the new arcade video games with their cutting edge graphics and sound. The uniqueness of Qbert, the voice in Sinistar, and so many more. That was the place to be.

Pong when I was about 7 and my Dad brought a pong system home. Around 10 or 11 I got my first Atari. Along with it got Pitfall and Pacman. Had lots of games, but got a Starpath Supercharger and that was super cool. But, my fave system of my youth was my Colecovision, which I got when I was 12. Played a ridiculous amount of Donkey Kong on it.

Re: Rumour: Ubisoft Reportedly Developing Sequel To Immortals Fenyx Rising

dcstud

@Tandy255 Funny you say that. After finishing the main Immortals games I attempted about 6 different games in my backlog, but nothing was clicking with me. I finally decided to revisit BOTW (Played about 20 hours of it when it first came out on the Wii U), as I had bought it for the Switch. Got about 30 minutes in and thought I have to stop. If I keep playing I will never go back and start the Immortals DLC. Now I am trying to hurry up and get through the Immortals DLC (Easter Realms only) so I can get immersed in BOTW.

Re: Rumour: Ubisoft Reportedly Developing Sequel To Immortals Fenyx Rising

Immortals Fenyx Rising might have become my favorite game of all time. I spent about 110 hours on the main game and about halfway through the DLC Myths of the Easter Realms (a junior version of the main game).

This game is so good. I absolutely loved the story; one of the best story driven games that I personally have played. Well written, incredibly well voiced, funny, and quite bawdy at times.

For all those that still think the game is a BOTW clone or wannabe. While there are elements that are taken from that game, it has its own unique gameplay elements. I have never played a game which had such great combat and leveling up system. Loved constantly playing to get one more treasure chest.

My biggest complaint with the game is that some of the harder Vaults, later in the game, really became a huge turnoff. But that was a small aspect.

I didn't start playing until November of this past year. All the patches had been applied to the Switch version. The game really looked pretty and quite amazing. I had one tiny glitch in the entire time I played.

Great game and I am really looking forward to a sequel.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Kart Racers - Every Kart Racing Game Ranked

dcstud

Beach Buggy Racing 2 Island Adventure - HotWheels Edition is one of my favorite Kart Racers. It is made by Vector Unit. The same team that did Hydro Thunder Hurricane on the XBOX 360. This is really an amazing Kart racer with excellent racing, maps, and mechanics. What I think keeps it just shy of Mario Kart level is that is lacking online play.

But, if you are a solo kart racer or like to race with others in the same room you really can't go wrong with this game. And, adding in all the Hot Wheels cars and tracks makes it all the more enjoyable. And, BTW there are so many hidden shortcuts and items. Really great fun!

Re: Tempest 4000 Brings Its Neon Insanity To Switch This Spring

dcstud

I am absolutely of a certain age, hence my avatar. Friggin loved Tempest in the arcades. I am horribly bad at it, but still love it. Yeah I'll get this to add to my new versions of Centipede and Burger Time on the Switch, and my Space Invaders on the Wii U. I really want the OG Donkey Kong too, but seriously Nintendo $8 for an extremely old game available on MAME?

Re: Ubisoft Valentine's Day Sale Offers Up To 75% Off Nintendo Switch Games

dcstud

If you haven't picked up Immortals Fenyx Rising yet and you like adventure games, you are missing out on an excellent game. I am sitting at 105 hours into the main game and it might be by favorite games of all time now.

I've read all the comparisons to BOTW. Yes, it does incorporate some elements. But, it really is a much different game and it stands on its own. And, while not as pretty as on the higher end platforms, I am still convinced it is one of the prettiest games on the Switch.

I caught it on a similar sell last year. Evidently several patches had been applied. This games runs fantastic on the Switch! For $15 this is a crazy good game!

Re: EA And Respawn Have Three Star Wars Games On The Way

dcstud

Here is different take. I think it is crap of Lucasfilm to make this arrangement with EA unless they agree to support all the major consoles. EA locks Nintendo out of all the good Star Wars games.

And, yes every damn one of these games could be ported. Might not look as good, but we are living in an age where the gameplay can be the same. They would just have to take another approach with the visuals.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 11th)

dcstud

@Teksetter Thank you. I still have my original ColecoVision in my closet along side two Super Action Controllers. Had the original controllers this entire time. Actually haven't gotten it out of the box to play it in many years. Few years back bought a ColecoVision Flashback with about 50 games on it. Seeing that original box fills me with nostalgia every time I see it. Figured it would be a crazy unique, avatar that only the few that remembered the system would get.

Thanks for the comment!, Happy Holidays!

Re: Best Spider-Man Games On Nintendo Consoles

dcstud

I love NintendoLife and I never suggest a correction, but team you completly overlooked another Spidey Game that came to the Wii U: Disney Infinity Marvel Super Heroes (2.0 Edition) Spider Man Play Set.

This is a full Spider Man game. The web slinging was really excellent. I thought the game was enjoyable and got about halfway through it.

I think this should be added as it is indeed playable on the Wii U.

Re: The Smurfs - Mission Vileaf Is A Cutesy 3D Platformer Heading to Switch

dcstud

I read somewhere that Smurf: Rescue in Gargamel's Castle for the Colecovision was the first platformer game. I played it when I was 12 or 13. It was impressive as there was nothing quite like it at the time. A glitch in the ColecoVision version allowed the player to see Smurfette without her dress on (not exactly).

Curious to see if this new game is any good.

Re: Feature: Best Wii U Games

dcstud

I have the bulk of these and way too many other games to count. Pretty sure over 100. The Wii U was also an amazing Lego machine that I've sunk hundreds of hours into counting Lego Dimensions. And, probably the best Skylanders platform. And, it's virtual console support was great. I have lots of GBA games on it. And, don't forget Zen Pinball and all the various pinball tables.

The Wii U is still in regular rotation and I'll be playing my backlog of games for many years. It's my BOTW machine and I only have about 50 hours in. Really a great console.
