Re: Blurred Art In Nintendo's N64 Switch Online Trailer Suggests Exciting Upcoming Additions

dazzlerJJD

@Jayenkai this is realistically what’s going on here but people love reading into things.

Here’s an article from 3 years ago for GBA games that were being tested. The list includes Mega Man, Kingdom Hearts and even Nintendo games such as Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga and Mario Party Advance that are still not on the GBA app. I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

Re: Nintendo's Taking Ring Fit Adventure On A Tour Of The UK & Ireland

dazzlerJJD

@WibblyWobbly I’ll do you one better. It should be named the Great Britain and Ireland Tour. The UK is by definition the union of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

I don’t see any Northern Ireland locations...

On second glance I don’t see any Wales location either so really this is a tour of England, Scotland and Ireland.

Re: Soapbox: We Like To Grumble, But Nintendo Switch Online Is Actually A Very Generous Offer

dazzlerJJD

So basically don't complain because it's cheaper? That's it? That's the only argument you got?

OK. Say I launched my own streaming service to compete with Netflix and the like. But there's no original programming. The content isn't as good as what Netflix offers. How much content is available is also less. BUT it's only £2 a month. How can you complain, it's so cheap! It's a "generous offer" compared to the competition.

The complaints I and others are making are perfectly valid. When Sony made Plus required for online on PS4, it had already been around for years. Plus had already become a much improved service, for example the addition of Vita games. So I already had a Plus subscription even before the PS4 was announced because it was worth the price. Nintendo on the other hand has to start from scratch. A year from now there will be more than 20 NES games. Maybe SNES games will be available. That's great but why should I subscribe now? If Nintendo doesn't want to share what the "Special Offers" are even though it's categorised as one of the five key parts of the service, why should I buy a subscription?

This service has its problems and has promise to be great. But until Nintendo addresses those I won't be paying.

Re: Nintendo Is Open To Dropping The 'Direct' Approach At Future E3 Events

dazzlerJJD

Move away from the Direct format? That's what everyone should be doing. There's no need for E3 press conferences these days.
No awkward pauses for cheers/laughter.
No technical issues (looking at you Skyward Sword).
No pauses between trailers like waiting for the next presenter to walk onto the stage. Or Sony having to move their entire audience this year and proceed to stall for 10 minutes.

So there's things to gain removing the live audience but what do you lose from not having them? I argue you lose nothing. Would hearing people cheer have made the Metroid Prime 4 announcement last year more exciting? Of course not.

Re: Pokémon GO Is Dropping Support For Older iPhones

dazzlerJJD

@XCWarrior “It's no different than discontinuing support for Wii or WiiU. It's going to happen eventually.”

No it isn’t. I can still play every Wii U game I’ve bought even though the system is discontinued and I always will be able to. I don’t have to buy a Switch to continue playing Mario Kart 8 for example. The closest thing to this would be the loss of Miiverse functionality but even then the games are still playable.

Re: Nintendo Has Announced the End of the Wii Shop Channel

dazzlerJJD

Surprised it lasted this long. Who still browses the Wii Shop Channel? It hasn’t been updated with games or promotions in what, 5 or 6 years? The Wii is a dead console. The Wii U is a dead console. It can’t be accessed on 3DS or Switch. You need “Points” to even buy games. I can’t see why it survived this long.

At least you can easily copy stuff over to an SD card and keep it after the shutdown date. Games are small downloads too so even archiving a large library shouldn’t take long.

Re: Guide: The Best Nintendo Switch Micro SD Cards

dazzlerJJD

@Thermoclorn you'll have patches that could quickly eat up your GBs. The biggest patch I've had to download on PS4 was close to 10GB. With patches being so commonplace these days I fear Switch will too suffer day 1 patch syndrome.

And don't forget some games will be digital only. Maybe they'll a limited physical release, which Shovel Knight got, maybe not.

So there will definitely be a need to expand your storage.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch Release Date and Key Games Outlined

dazzlerJJD

My biggest fear is there's too many ports. If you already own a Wii U then what's the incentive to buy a new system only to buy those games again? Plus as awesome as Smash, Mario Kart 8, Splatoon, Xenoblade and Mario Maker are, they didn't help sell Wii U units. So why would people who didn't buy a Wii U to play those games buy Switch to play those same games?

Re: Nintendo of America Promises 'Steady Flow' of NES Classic Edition Units Through Holiday Period

dazzlerJJD

Stores never order less than 10 units of a product. So it's either Nintendo greatly underestimating production or they're holding back stock to create artificial scarcity. Same thing happens with everything Nintendo releases, consoles, amiibo et al. My money is on artificial scarcity. It always looks good when websites report you've sold out on launch day. And if you can't have something, you want it so much more.

Re: Nintendo of Europe Formalises the Nintendo Account 'Just for You' Birthday Deals

dazzlerJJD

Just celebrated my birthday in August and didn't get any birthday deals and I was livid about it. Looking at this list looks like I was angry for nothing. There's nothing here that interests me. Xenoblade Chronicles X is the only Wii U game on the list I don't own as I'm not interested in the series. On 3DS while I only own Tri Force Heroes, the other titles I don't own because I'm not interested in them. That's the problem with MyNintendo. Any games offered with a discount that you'd be interested in playing you've already bought them. Hopefully this changes once the NX is out.
