@WibblyWobbly I’ll do you one better. It should be named the Great Britain and Ireland Tour. The UK is by definition the union of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
I don’t see any Northern Ireland locations...
On second glance I don’t see any Wales location either so really this is a tour of England, Scotland and Ireland.
Was able to nab a poster yesterday around 7pm UK time. Posters are already out of stock? Typical Nintendo.
Was going to pick up a shirt but at £25? No thanks. I find it ironic that right now PlayStation Gear has their shirts on sale for £10-£15. That’s more reasonable.
@RunGMhx Wii U launched one year before PS4/Xbone, yet people still claim it was part of the PS3/360 generation. That would technically make Switch a “next generation” console.
So basically don't complain because it's cheaper? That's it? That's the only argument you got?
OK. Say I launched my own streaming service to compete with Netflix and the like. But there's no original programming. The content isn't as good as what Netflix offers. How much content is available is also less. BUT it's only £2 a month. How can you complain, it's so cheap! It's a "generous offer" compared to the competition.
The complaints I and others are making are perfectly valid. When Sony made Plus required for online on PS4, it had already been around for years. Plus had already become a much improved service, for example the addition of Vita games. So I already had a Plus subscription even before the PS4 was announced because it was worth the price. Nintendo on the other hand has to start from scratch. A year from now there will be more than 20 NES games. Maybe SNES games will be available. That's great but why should I subscribe now? If Nintendo doesn't want to share what the "Special Offers" are even though it's categorised as one of the five key parts of the service, why should I buy a subscription?
This service has its problems and has promise to be great. But until Nintendo addresses those I won't be paying.
Move away from the Direct format? That's what everyone should be doing. There's no need for E3 press conferences these days.
No awkward pauses for cheers/laughter.
No technical issues (looking at you Skyward Sword).
No pauses between trailers like waiting for the next presenter to walk onto the stage. Or Sony having to move their entire audience this year and proceed to stall for 10 minutes.
So there's things to gain removing the live audience but what do you lose from not having them? I argue you lose nothing. Would hearing people cheer have made the Metroid Prime 4 announcement last year more exciting? Of course not.
@-Juice- I don’t understand it either. When the Vita was first shown I remember hating the icons but as it turned out, they were placeholders and looked completely different when it launched. Same thing here. The Smash logo is generic and not final but it’s not finished.
@XCWarrior “It's no different than discontinuing support for Wii or WiiU. It's going to happen eventually.”
No it isn’t. I can still play every Wii U game I’ve bought even though the system is discontinued and I always will be able to. I don’t have to buy a Switch to continue playing Mario Kart 8 for example. The closest thing to this would be the loss of Miiverse functionality but even then the games are still playable.
@russellohh their reading skills are dubious at best. Asking “Is this an official podcast?” on an article titled “Nintendo Launches Official Nintendo Power Podcast”.
@Anti-Matter it’s been years since I’ve used a Wii but I think I copied a Brick Breaker WiiWare clone I bought on my SD card. I tried playing it on a friend’s and it wouldn’t let me.
Surprised it lasted this long. Who still browses the Wii Shop Channel? It hasn’t been updated with games or promotions in what, 5 or 6 years? The Wii is a dead console. The Wii U is a dead console. It can’t be accessed on 3DS or Switch. You need “Points” to even buy games. I can’t see why it survived this long.
At least you can easily copy stuff over to an SD card and keep it after the shutdown date. Games are small downloads too so even archiving a large library shouldn’t take long.
@Thermoclorn you'll have patches that could quickly eat up your GBs. The biggest patch I've had to download on PS4 was close to 10GB. With patches being so commonplace these days I fear Switch will too suffer day 1 patch syndrome.
And don't forget some games will be digital only. Maybe they'll a limited physical release, which Shovel Knight got, maybe not.
So there will definitely be a need to expand your storage.
My biggest fear is there's too many ports. If you already own a Wii U then what's the incentive to buy a new system only to buy those games again? Plus as awesome as Smash, Mario Kart 8, Splatoon, Xenoblade and Mario Maker are, they didn't help sell Wii U units. So why would people who didn't buy a Wii U to play those games buy Switch to play those same games?
Stores never order less than 10 units of a product. So it's either Nintendo greatly underestimating production or they're holding back stock to create artificial scarcity. Same thing happens with everything Nintendo releases, consoles, amiibo et al. My money is on artificial scarcity. It always looks good when websites report you've sold out on launch day. And if you can't have something, you want it so much more.
I'm curious what they'd call it. If it's portable only, then you can't call it Nintendo Switch. The whole point of the name is the switching between the TV and portable. What 2DS equilvalent of awfulness could they use?
@Nintendian the Switch was first announced as the NX before Iwata's passing. Kimishima didn't scrap Iwata's ideas and start from scratch. Nor is he erasing what Iwata did.
Just celebrated my birthday in August and didn't get any birthday deals and I was livid about it. Looking at this list looks like I was angry for nothing. There's nothing here that interests me. Xenoblade Chronicles X is the only Wii U game on the list I don't own as I'm not interested in the series. On 3DS while I only own Tri Force Heroes, the other titles I don't own because I'm not interested in them. That's the problem with MyNintendo. Any games offered with a discount that you'd be interested in playing you've already bought them. Hopefully this changes once the NX is out.
Can't believe this has to be said. Don't walk into a stranger's house to play an augmented reality video game. Even it means not catching a Dragonite or whatever. The guy was trespassing which is illegal and no it's not the game's fault. Game didn't force him to open the door and enter the house. Can't help but shake my head in disgust.

Re: Blurred Art In Nintendo's N64 Switch Online Trailer Suggests Exciting Upcoming Additions
@Jayenkai this is realistically what’s going on here but people love reading into things.
Here’s an article from 3 years ago for GBA games that were being tested. The list includes Mega Man, Kingdom Hearts and even Nintendo games such as Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga and Mario Party Advance that are still not on the GBA app. I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

@link3710 ah I see. Seemed sketchy at first with my card details being there. Just had to click the accept button and it worked.

Linked my Twitch and Nintendo accounts but at the “Confirm Redemption” screen it says it’s charging £17.99 for the three months. What gives?

Re: Starlink: Battle For Atlas Physical Release Will Require A 6GB Day One Update
Why is 6GB a big deal? Wasn’t NBA 2K 30GB? Unless you don’t have an SD card you should be fine. And if you don’t £10 will score you a 64GB card.

Re: PayPal Offering £5 Off When You Spend £20 On The Nintendo eShop
@riChchestM click the circle with your Mii/profile picture in the top right of the eshop.
Add funds.
Choose PayPal.
No need to actually buy anything in the eshop.
Just have to have the two linked and you need to “save” the offer to your PayPal account.
Re: PayPal Offering £5 Off When You Spend £20 On The Nintendo eShop
@SkinnyInklingBoy you can just top up your balance and get £5 off. That’s what I did. I’ll put that towards Pokken DX.

@DoctorOverbuild that $35 doesn't include VAT (which probably adds £5) plus currencies flucuate A LOT (so they've add a couple of bob for that too).
