@Aqueous Wario Land 2 was originally released as a black and white game (gray cartridge, which I still own to this day!). Then re-released in a black cartridge
Folks, there is no way the full GBA list here is all coming to NSO. Some of these are separately being sold, such as the Castlevanis games. Tempering expectations is advised.
This is ridiculous—SNES should be paired with the original Gameboy! The meaty part of each console’s lifespan aligned perfectly. That right there was my childhood in a nutshell.
Since they were split up I begrudgingly had to go with Switch
Yooka-Laylee is underrated. The only parts I really disliked were that video game machine in the 4th level and the final boss, who I couldn’t beat. I’ll probably replay it and skip these parts again
Chrono Trigger is so widely available on other platforms (including smartphones) that I feel there is more unmet demand w/ Cross. I’m excited to play this for the first time
@protocol_penguin IMO the emulation has actually been pretty good. Lots of improvements in the last couple months. My big issue is the button mapping—I guess if you also get the controller it’s not a problem.
It’s still too many for most people, but at around 450 or so korok seeds all inventory slots will be open. If I ever replay the game I’m going to reach this point and stop
I have NSO+ and feel I'm getting my money's worth. As long as the quality of games released remains at the level we've seen so far, no complaints here! But I hope the service doesn't devolve into long stretches with nothing.
I don’t know if this is the best 3D platformer of all time, but I certainly think it has the best 3D platformer hub world of all time. Psyched to play this again!
@NintendoWife full transparency, I'm just being a messenger here and don't actually care about a lot of these release either. This being said, I believe Mario/Rabbids is likely to be as anticipated as Bayonetta and Splatoon. Also, it's on Jan 6th and I suspect a lot will be announced at E3 (I'd bet a new Donkey Kong game and Wind Waker/Twilight Princess HD). I think all in all there is more excitement going into 2022 than going into 2020 or 2021
@NintendoWife just off the top of my head: -open-world-ish Kirby Game -Bayonetta 3 -Splatoon 3 -Mario + Rabbids 2 -Hollow Knight 2 (maybe?) -Triangle Strategy -Advance Wars 1/2 -Pokemon Legends
@nukatha I have heard rumors that the next console is indeed coming out next year (2023). Not sure about the spring though. I don't think Nintendo intends this to be a launch title.
I think when they announced a "2022" release last summer they were intending for this to come out during the holidays this year. However, they will prioritize quality over hitting this deadline. I think Feb/Mar 2023 is likely, but no chance any later than this.
I guess this doesn't count as an open-world game, but I'm currently playing Dragon Quest XI and the experience of playing this reminds me a lot of Breath of the Wild. Much more so than Witcher 3 or Skyrim in fact. Or is this just me?
Obviously the combat is totally different w/ DQXI being as JRPG as you can possibly get, but exploring the overworld, towns, etc feels very similar to BotW. Even the side quests feel like they are more "progress" than distraction as they tend to teach you core game mechanics.
Oh my goodness I don’t know why the spin here is so negative. This is HUGE news for NSO! I am a proud expansion pass subscriber and am psyched, even if this would be a 2023 add-on
Played this and I agree 100% with this review. 9/10 for sure.
I will just say I was not a fan of the 1st DLC as it was basically a 15-hour rehash of one of the main stories in the game. Haven’t done the 2nd DLC yet so can’t comment there
The main story is great per this review but the first DLC I cannot recommend as it’s basically a retelling of a story already detailed in the main game.

Re: It's Official, Metroid Dread Is The Best-Selling Game In The Metroid Series
What’s not stated here is that if Prime is re-released on Switch wouldn’t it retake the crown?
Re: Best Game Boy Games
@Aqueous Wario Land 2 was originally released as a black and white game (gray cartridge, which I still own to this day!). Then re-released in a black cartridge
Re: Feature: 24 Game Boy Advance Games We'd Love To See Added To Nintendo Switch Online
I think it's a safe bet at least half of these will (eventually) make their way on the service.

Re: Feature: Best Eggs In Games
I'm pretty sure that Chrono Trigger has an important egg as well. Was this actually called the "chrono trigger"? My memory is hazy

Interesting! Is anyone keeping track of these releases? I would love to know which ones are actually decent

Re: Playtonic Celebrates 5 Years of Yooka-Laylee, Teases Some "Surprises"
@Bunkerneath YL2 was already announced a couple weeks ago . I hope the surprise is that it’s releasing this year!
Re: Backlog Club: Week Zero - Hello, And Welcome To Backlog Club
I voted for Earthbound, but be warned it is NOT a quick game. Expect 40 hours minimum to finish
Re: Feature: Nintendo Life eShop Selects - March 2022
Gotta give a moderate recommendation for The Last Cube. Pretty good puzzler that never fees unfair. Surprised this site gave no mention of it.
Re: Soapbox: Chrono Cross Really Deserves To Come To Switch Before Chrono Trigger
Chrono Trigger is so widely available on other platforms (including smartphones) that I feel there is more unmet demand w/ Cross. I’m excited to play this for the first time
Re: Nintendo Highlights Upcoming N64 Releases In Latest 'Switch Online + Expansion Pack - Overview Trailer'
@LUIGITORNADO if I had to guess they will announce GB/GBC for the regular service with GBA for the expansion pack this Fall. Just a wild guess though

Re: Nintendo Switch Is Back On Top According To February's NPD Sales Figures
Switch is destined to be the top selling console of all time
Re: Glory Hunters Looks Like A Game Boy Zelda, And Plays Like Nothing Else
Am I the only person that would prefer to see a B&W version over a color release? Hope that’s at the bottom of the stretch goal list. But looks cool!
Re: Best Detective Games On Nintendo Switch
I never truly realized until I saw this list that this is in fact my favorite game genre. Will have to try out more of these, such as Gnosia
Re: Talking Point: How Long Does Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Take To Beat, Really?
It’s still too many for most people, but at around 450 or so korok seeds all inventory slots will be open. If I ever replay the game I’m going to reach this point and stop
Re: Paradise Killer Physical Edition Now Available For Pre-Order
Crazy timing, I literally just finished playing this yesterday. Great game and killer soundtrack for anyone interested
Re: Hands On: Kirby And The Forgotten Land: More 'Super Mario 3D World' Than 'Mario Odyssey'
Dang this is a shame. Full 3D platformers are definitely my favorite. Looks like I have to wait for Yooka-Laylee 2 or a new Spyro game.
Re: Soapbox: Two Ace Attorneys Are Trapped On 3DS eShop, So It's About Time For A New Trilogy
the biggest loss here is the dual destinies DLC case
Re: Where To Pre-Order 'Live A Live' On Switch
anyone know how this stacks up against the other classic Square SNES games?

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The February 2022 Nintendo Direct?
the MK8 DLC announcement was a smart way to give the NSO expansion some legitimacy
Re: Nintendo Direct To Air Tomorrow, Wednesday 9th February 2022
Am I the only one hoping for more updates on the NSO expansion pack?
Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask Is Being Added To Switch Online's Expansion Pack In February

@Bustacap thanks!
Re: Review: Banjo-Kazooie - Peerless Platforming Perfection, And Now Available On Switch
any clue when this is going live?
Re: Dying Light 2 Will Take At Least 500 Hours To "Fully Complete"
Can we please cap all games at 40-50 hrs to complete? I’ve basically had to write off the entire RPG genre due to bloat

I'd put Little Magic on here

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Short Games
Would recommend Severed too
Re: Don't Worry, Zelda: BOTW 2 Is Reportedly Still Aiming To Launch Next Year
Feb/Mar 2023. Some extra polish pushes it out a few months from the intended release date
Re: Banjo-Kazooie Is Getting Jiggy With Nintendo Switch Online In January
BK is the entire reason I paid for this service. Yay! Now I don’t have to care about the pace of releases
Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's Expansion Pack Tier With Paper Mario 64, Out Next Week
10 down, 28 to go!
Re: Nintendo Announces Huge Cyber Deals Sale Starting Today, Up To 50% Off Top Switch Games (North America)
DQXI NEVER goes on sale. Epic
Re: Playtonic's Original Yooka-Laylee Game Is Getting A Follow-Up Title
Would love to see a combination of the overworld from Impossible Lair with the 3D stages in YL. Pipe dream?
Re: Playtonic's Original Yooka-Laylee Game Is Getting A Follow-Up Title
Yes please! 3D platformers like DK64 and Banjo Kazooie are my favorite genre. Anything half-decent I will lap up.
I thought the first game was a pretty good time except for the horrible final boss
Re: Feature: 14 Wii Games That Deserve Switch Ports
Zelda Twilight Princess pls
