Re: Nintendo Left Sony "Standing At The Altar" With SNES Disk Add-On, Says Former PlayStation Exec

cleveland124

My honest guess is not much would have changed. The SNES was old in the tooth and people weren't into expensive add-ons at the time. Look at the Sega CD and how poor that did. So my guess would have been they still would have moved to cartridge for the N64 and then Sony could have still worked on a new console to save their investment.

Where it could get interesting is if Nintendo told Sony we want this CD for the N64. That would have been the alternative history. The N64 was mostly seen as more powerful than the PS1. But often due to lack of disc space and compression, the PS1 seemed more impressive. If the N64 was really a lower powered Gamecube and there was no PS1 then Nintendo could have dominated. Especially if Sony studios was still created to make games that were PS1 exclusive as Nintendo exclusive. Gamecube would have absolutely dominated the Xbox. The future probably would have looked alot different after that though. Nintendo may not have gone down the road less traveled. We may not have seen a Wii or DS. Nintendo could have been the company of same old same old.

Re: Missed Out On NYXI's GameCube-Inspired Switch Controller? Pre-Orders Are Now Available

cleveland124

@Serpenterror

Some games allow use of analog triggers through the use of the Gamecube to Wii U adapter that was sold. A good example of this is Grid Autosport which allows the Gamecube controllers to use the triggers to control gas and braking.

If the rumored Gamecube expansion comes to Switch Online, it would be huge to have triggers.

Additionally, these bluetooth controllers can be used with any system that supports bluetooth. As such, the triggers would be a nice selling point to utilize with say a steam deck.

Re: A New Bayonetta 3 Report Features A Differing Account Of PlatinumGames VA Pay Offer

cleveland124

@HeadPirate

While this is a 3rd returning role, this is not a big series. Duke Nukem 3D sold 3.5 million units while the original run of Bayo 2 sold between 300,000-400,000 on the Wii U. Bayo was dead and done until the success of the Switch lifted the boat and Nintendo thought maybe we won't lose money on a 3rd. As they very likely lost money on the Wii U version until the Switch re-release.

Re: Nvidia Employee Comment Confirms Chip Rumoured To Be Used In 'Switch Pro' Is Real

cleveland124

@NintendoKnight

I'd hope Nintendo does the backwards compatibility thing. The PS5 and Xbox series X are heavily backward compatible with prior generations. Assuming you can just download eshop games or play existing carts on the Switch 2, that is surely the way to go. It's too late in the cycle to do a New Switch or whatever they call it and it won't get people excited to keep playing existing games with either slightly higher framerate or slightly higher resolution. A new product is needed to excite the market.

"It’s ridiculous to equate a bottle of fizzing drink with alcohol. It could be sparkling apple juice.

It sums americas issues up in a nutshell. Always looking in the wrong places for the ills of society."

Some guy at Nintendo decides to censor something and that means Americans are screwed up? Sega didn't censor blood from Mortal Kombat 2 and it did better than the Nintendo censored version. "The SNES version was developed by Sculptured Software. Because of poor sales of the censored SNES version of the original game, Nintendo decided to allow depictions of blood and Fatalities this time around." That's a quote form Mortal Kombat 2 wiki and how Nintendo was forced to allow things because the market liked it. Seems maybe Americans don't care about these things afterall and maybe Nintendo's censorship policies actually had nothing to do with what Americans are like.

"Video games tell a story through player action - they have to be interactive. It is hard to adapt that to a linear medium."

Maybe most games, but if you are telling a story of the early resident evil games 1-4 they are all really linear. It's always do x to unlock new area or access boss fight. I've always thought it would be very easy to make a movie with this plot. Sure they'll have to change some stuff, but it'd be nice if they kept the core backstory of umbrella the same and I think it'd be great if they started with the team getting trapped in the mansion like the original. I just think that's so brilliant the way the original game was setup.

Re: Analogue Pocket's Next Big Beta Update Will Roll Out In July

cleveland124

I get being disappointed. They really did promise alot of features that haven't landed yet. The hardware is awesome though as a little bit more than a GBA right now and could be very nice if the 1.1 roll-out gives the promised features.

My hopes for this roll-out:

1. Jailbreak. This device has so much potential, so it'll be sad if they decide to cut-out this feature. Some people are speculating it'll be released with 1.1 as there was so many things being added that it was the focus. So I guess we'll know pretty soon if there will be a jailbreak.

2. Hopefully it's really open. I've been confused with a couple of things. At one point they said the bigger FPGA was going to be off-limits to developers. That would really limit what could come to it. I think they have clarified this is not true but would love to see the final product. The second limiting thing could be that they are requiring developers to register and work with analogue on releases. This could be pretty limiting too if analogue doesn't approve cores that they have products for.

3. Full Everdrive GB support. It's my understanding that the reason some carts don't work with the pocket is there is some sort of electrical spike that the analogue produces that is not in a real GBA. Seems to me this should be fixable but I guess we'll know soon enough.

4. All the promised features. Would love to get multiple save states, multiple cores that were promised (neo-geo pocket, turbo 16, lynx). At least right now I'm not sure I get the library feature. If there is a jailbreak, essentially all the games can be listed anyways. And if there is no jailbreak and you need the cartridge anyway, what's the point?

Re: The SNES Classic Is The UK's King Of The Micro-Consoles

cleveland124

@gutsdozier

I don't know why they aren't available. It would be a great idea to rerelease them at least every couple of years with maybe different games or different colors.

My experience with original hardware on hdtvs is that it really only works with an appropriate scaler. Most hdtvs don't come with analog inputs anymore, but the ones I've used that do don't properly accept 240p. They try to de-interlace and then it adds a significant amount of lag that makes it unplayable. 480i consoles seem to work okay though a scaler would still have less lag.

Re: Soapbox: Why Can't Nintendo Offer Both Virtual Console And Switch Online?

cleveland124

I think the virtual console will come back with the Switch 2. I think the NSO online games solved two issues for Nintendo this round. Issue one was the upgrade fee was insufficient to get third parties excited about the Wii U virtual console. Many gamers that were interested in those games already bought the virtual console games on the Wii. Genesis didn't come to the Wii U because they didn't want to sell the games for $1.50 each. By missing a loop they will probably start over and not allow a discount if you've purchased those games previously.

I also think the second option is that Nintendo didn't think they could sell a $50/annual online membership. So the NSO games were kind of an inbetween. Not quite the full games that Playstation/Xbox were offering, but a discounted price to try and get more people involved. I think Nintendo is seeing that adding the Mario Kart pack/Animal Crossing pack/ and potentially a Pokemon pack add more value than the older games. I think with Switch 2 they will migrate to a $50/annual system that offers benefits tied to more recent games and hopefully a few recent games even if you lose access to those games in a few months.

Re: Soapbox: Why Can't Nintendo Offer Both Virtual Console And Switch Online?

cleveland124

@Mallow

"What I don't understand is why people want VC on Switch. It will be digitally only, meaning, as is no surprise with 3DS and Wii eshop news, there is no ownership forever of the games - which is the exact complaint leveled at having to use the streaming service."

Who wouldn't want every Nintendo system in a portable solution? The ability to travel with every Zelda, Metroid, and Mario game ever made is extremely appealing. Plus all the other great games that graced their systems or others as Genesis/Master System/Turbo Grafx/Arcade games/C64 were all highlighted on the Wii. If you kept building that collection on the Switch, it could really be special.

I think you have to highlight the reason people hate the subscription model is you pay and pay and pay again for the same content. Let's say you were interested in Ocarina of Time and Banjo Kazooie. Two excellent games that could sock alot of time for. You might be inclined to drop $20 to be able to play them the next 5 years on your Switch. You might be less inclined to pay $50 a year or $250 for the privilege of playing those games on your Switch. It's just too much and many people want to pick and choose the games they want to play. Also, while you can argue that you don't own digital games, there is no set timeline for games that you purchased. I'm still rocking virtual console games I bought on the Wii from 2007. Yeah, potentially my console will break and I'll lose access to them, but that's alot different than knowing in exactly 365 days I have to pay more or lose access to the games.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Mastery Of Physical Game Sales Hides Limited Digital Growth

cleveland124

@TheRedComet

"It’s a portable system first and foremost. "

It's complicated.

1. Some people use it only docked.
2. Nintendo typically has more of a kids focus where the kids don't have access to a credit card or password to use for Nintendo digital store purchases.
3. The primary reason to own a Nintendo system is Nintendo games and retail stores have much better sales on Nintendo games than the digital storefront does.
4. The sharing ability is atrocious on the Switch. I have a family with 3 girls. You can only share games with other profiles on one system. So games that we want to share must simply be bought physical. I'm kind of mad at myself for buying too much digitally up front and now being stuck with workarounds to allow them to play many of the games I've bought.

"I feel like I have more space on my Switch with a 256 gig SD card than I do with my PS5’s 667 gigs of free space."

Really depends on the games you like. The digital storefront has much better sales on third party games than Nintendo games. Third party games can get pretty big. I picked up NBA 2k21 when it was on sale for $4. It uses a 39.4 GB download. Witcher 3 is 31.5 GB, LA Noire is 27.4 GB, GTA 5 is 25.4 GB. So if you are into playing AAA games on the go it'll take alot of space.

cleveland124

"The only difference you can kind of see is the white in the shrine ceiling, it's ever so slightly dimmer, and the blueish-white has a slight green tint."

Isn't that proof of burn in or at least damage to the screen and the start of burn in? Burn in on an oled is worn out pixels. I.E., they can no longer produce the colors they could originally produce.

Here is the rtings burn in test that they performed a while ago. If I knew how, I'd post the exact picture. The pictures are about mid page. https://www.rtings.com/tv/learn/real-life-oled-burn-in-test

The CNN logo is mainly red. On the full screen red images, the CNN logo looks black and is clearly noticable. It's this way because the red, where the CNN logo sits, is incapable of producing that color of red any more. The red pixels have worn out in that area. The CNN logo is also noticable on the yellow and magenta backgrounds again because of the inability to display red properly in those colors. The green and blue screens look perfect because those individual pixels are fine since the CNN logo doesn't use those colors so the green and blue subpixels in those areas are not worn out.

Re: Reminder: The Analogue Pocket Will Be Available To Pre-Order Again Today

cleveland124

@RupeeClock

Analogue employs like 5 people and likely doesn't know fair market value for the work. How many people can reverse engineer a gba bios? It's such a niche thing that the people who can do it can probably ask what they want and feel justified walking away from reasonable offers.

But I don't really think it matters. If someone doesn't offer you fair market value, you say no and move on with your life. I think it makes you a bad person if you write write an article telling everyone how important you are and how bad they are that they couldn't see your value.

The whole thing kinda reads like an advertisement for mgba and just seems like the writer was biased from the start against working with Analogue unless they gave him everything he wanted.

I think alot of niche coders/developers are jealous of Kevtris. Without Analogue he is probably making cores as a labor of love and releasing them for free on the mister. But Analogue provided the capital and now he's making great money and doing what he wants and getting recognition for his talents.

Re: Reminder: The Analogue Pocket Will Be Available To Pre-Order Again Today

cleveland124

@RupeeClock

There are always two sides of a story and that's one. But it doesn't seem like he got screwed. He was offered $25 an hour, he said no. They upped it to $50 an hour and he said yes if the details work. They didn't so he declined. Then he went on a long rant of things he heard and ripped on Kevtris while never having had talked to him.

I'm sure Kevtris and Analogue aren't saints, but I didn't think the developer's whining and speculation makes him look good or is a reason to not buy a pocket.

Re: Review: Paper Mario - A Well-Crafted Creation That Stands Up Beautifully

cleveland124

@mariopartyfan68

Deals are always very specific to the individual and the value they get out of it. What if you have no plans to use the Animal Crossing DLC or the Genesis games? Is it still a good deal to pay $30 annually for access to 10 N64 games?

I also think it's absurd that you give the same value between owning the Animal Crossing DLC forever as to renting for 1 year. I'd love to rent you a $25,000 car for $25,000 annually.

Re: Review: Paper Mario - A Well-Crafted Creation That Stands Up Beautifully

cleveland124

@imgrowinglegs

You are both right. If you only have one switch it'll check 1 time a week. If you have multiple switch systems, your non primary systems have to check every time you play.

Also annoying that it doesn't automatically check to update the 1 week flag. You need to start the program after 1 week to get it to check. Where this can become an issue is if you are running to your car to leave and grab your Switch. Since you didn't take the time to boot the Switch and launch N64 games then you won't be able to play them until you have access to internet and that process is complete.

I'm not a huge fan of how complicated Nintendo has made this. And if they would have made sharing between your own systems easier I would have bought a 3rd (OLED) model.

Re: Random: Waluigi And Wario Get A Much Deserved Celebrity Endorsement

cleveland124

@Rayquaza2510

It's not about playing something because Christina Ag is playing it, it's about getting a consumer to tune in to the message. We are inudated with ads all the time and I and many consumers don't pay attention at all.

So let's say some consumer is about to play on their phone until the commercial is over. Then they hear her voice and they look up to identify her. And then now they are paying attention and think the game looks cool so they want to buy the game. Celebrities naturally garner more attention.

Re: Random: Waluigi And Wario Get A Much Deserved Celebrity Endorsement

cleveland124

@Rayquaza2510

If you are on a Nintendo website, then it probably doesn't matter who is in the ads as you are more knowledgeable about Nintendo products than the average person. That said, there are many casual gamers who don't know anything about games that there are not advertisements for.

Good products don't inherently sell themselves. You can look at Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros, Super Mario 3D world and the other Wii U ports that sold far more on the Switch as proof that good games don't necessarily sell themselves and marketing is important.

Re: Video: The GameCube Is Over 20 Years Old, And Blimey Do We Have Memories Of It

cleveland124

I go back between the SNES and Gamecube being my favorite. The SNES was my first home console and also was when I was younger and had lots of time to game. Parents didn't buy me an N64. When I was going to college I saved up and bought a Gamecube so it's the first game system I purchased. Coincidentally I also had some great gaming sessions with friends. I still enjoy gaming but I've never had as much time as I did for those two systems so it's unlikely I'll ever like another system as much.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's N64 Emulation Is Serviceable, But Treasured Memories Deserve Better

cleveland124

@Zag_Man

The safe space comment was specifically a reply on you telling me what to do. This wasn't an attack on you as much as me sticking up for my right to my opinion.

You said you were tired of the complaining and just wanted to play some games. I said specifically if you want to play games then play games. It wasn't an order or me telling you what to do. If it wasn't clear before, then do what you want to do. If you want to keep complaining about the negativity on Nintendolife then keep complaining. And no, that isn't me telling you what to do.

I don't think it was a clickbait article because I think the comment section was entirely predictable based on the title of the article. That said have a good one and I hope you find your positivity yet today.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's N64 Emulation Is Serviceable, But Treasured Memories Deserve Better

cleveland124

@Zag_Man

I didn't tell you not to express your opinion or dig at you for your opinion. There are obviously some people happy with the service and that's great. My response was to your comment that "the complaining on here is out of hand" and telling me to vote with my wallet instead of with words. You are certainly entitled to that opinion but you don't control the comments section and can't tell me what to say or not say.

"But I generally don't complain because I get the business model and I have no obligation to click."

But you did click and made multiple comments complaining about users who responded.

"I don't blindly defend Nintendo I have been very critical of them at times but in all honesty it is tiresome and I'd rather enjoy gaming."

Great, go game if you are tired of this website. I often take long periods of not looking at this website and spend it gaming instead. If you don't take breaks for games what is the point of hanging out on a Nintendo focused website. Spend your time doing what you want instead of something you find frustrating.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's N64 Emulation Is Serviceable, But Treasured Memories Deserve Better

cleveland124

@Zag_Man

Nobody said emulation was easy. Just that it's dissapointing that this is Nintendo's 3rd round implementing N64 emulation (Wii, Wii U, Switch) with each round having more powerful hardware and Nintendo having more profits than ever so it wasn't unreasonable to expect improvement in this area.

"But in the end, you don't like what's on offer, vote with your wallet because the complaining on here is out of hand and Nintendo never listens anyway."

Of course not, the purpose of a message board is good faith dialogue with the opinions of members. This should have gone without saying, but since you did say it I'll add the part you left out. Nintendo spends millions on PR each year. They don't need you to defend them and luckily they won't decide to release even buggier software because you are spending your free time defending them.

This wasn't a clickbait article. The title made it pretty clear this individual bought the N64 online expansion expecting better. If you don't want to read negative opinions when the title is negative I'd suggest you'd avoid these articles and probably the forum posts in general because sometimes people have negative opinions of services that cost money. The internet is not a safe space where you get to decide what people can discuss.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's N64 Emulation Is Serviceable, But Treasured Memories Deserve Better

cleveland124

@Zag_Man

The comment is weird to me. The Switch is quite a bit more powerful than the Wii U and the Wii U had better N64 emulation with most of these games.

Nintendo also had it's most profitable year ever in 2020 making $5.9 billion US dollars. They also charged way more than expected for these game add-ons as the highest option in the Nintendolife survey was $20 additional, not the $30 it ended up being.

Nintendo didn't have to make these games if they didn't have the resources to make them right. But they gave it minimal effort and asked more than expected. That's indefensible.

Re: Poll: What's A Fair Price For The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack?

cleveland124

@Aya-chan

Well realistically they should split it and charge a price for online and a price for retro games. The issue is most people probably only want one or the other now but are forced to pay.

But Nintendo chose this path. Having multiple plans is confusing and will leave future improvements (potentially for online play as well) behind paywalls.

Re: Talking Point: Should We Be Worried About Screen Burn-In With Switch OLED?

cleveland124

@Savage_Joe

Are you sure you didn't notice image retention on your laptop? That can happen with cheap displays but it shouldn't be permanently built in. I've just never heard of an LCD with burn-in. Sure they can have several issues like stuck/dead pixels, uniformity issues or even have sections of backlight go out. But never heard of burn in on one.

Re: Talking Point: Should We Be Worried About Screen Burn-In With Switch OLED?

cleveland124

Yes, you should be concerned. Here is a video with Linus and the 48" LG CX and how he's gotten burn in already. This TV is less than a year old. So while some things have gotten better, they haven't resolved it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWrFEU_605g

Burn in is really weird. Sometimes you wouldn't think people would get it and they do. Other times you think people should and they don't. Maybe it's something with material variance in the organic layers that we'll understand later.

If you view the OLED Switch as a 3-4 year investment until the Switch 2 then buy it and enjoy it to your hearts content and any burn in during that time should be minimal.

Re: Video: Comparing The OLED, Switch, And Switch Lite Screens

cleveland124

@Scoopz

"How can i reference a machine like the Steam Deck whilst saying a Pro is impossible?"

That was my exact quote above. But you ignored it to continue your crusade against things I wasn't saying. It later became apparent that you were just arguing yourself and I tried to correct you but you still don't let it go.

"I said it didnt make sense and i have outlined why very clearly. I will not cater for incompetence."

If my point was unclear you should have asked for more specifics instead of arguing something you didn't understand.

"Knowing that would require a new chip i told you why Nintendos decision to not release such a Pro made sense."

Digital Foundry said specifically this wasn't the case. They said it would require a new cooling solution, not a new chip.

"I then provided evidence from hardware and graphics experts to state that whist overclocking was possible it was no easy fix and would actually require a significant re-design"

Never said no re-design. I said no new chip because a significant part of your argument was the chip shortage. Digital foundry agreed that a redesigned dock could allow additional cycle speed.

"You sent a link of market analysts(glad youve learned the difference between these and engineers)"

Says the person who said Digital Foundry was a market analyst and proved your point that the market wouldn't accept a Switch Pro. If you read the link, some people said it was time for a Switch Pro. So it's not in support of your position.

"I said youre no engineer to know the OLED is enough for this. You conceded (quietly and therefore cowardly)"

What a weird thing to say. Were you cowering when you admitted you weren't an engineer? Maybe we should stop this discussion. I'm worried about your mental state and I don't want to be the person that drives you over the edge.

Re: Video: Comparing The OLED, Switch, And Switch Lite Screens

cleveland124

@Scoopz

After I said as noted in post #35 that the OLED would get you "part way there", you proceeded to say it was impossible. So you dismissed my point outright so I dismissed yours with the McFly comment. You have to ignore my previous posts to pretend like that's all I said.

You are moving the goalposts now. All I said is the Switch should perform better. I never threw out how much better. I never said 4K, never said 50% improvement, or 25%. So yes it seems that Digital Foundry agrees with me as they explicitly state performance on the Switch OLED is better in variable scaled games due to better heat dissipation. That's all I've ever been saying all along.

They do say the dock design prevents better performance in docked mode. I actually never mentioned the dock in any of my posts. So this is of no consequence to me.

How many pieces of video game hardware has digital foundry released? Oh, zero? They are hardware experts, not market experts. If you were an analyst as you say, you'd know there are dozens of market experts and that some think it's time for a Switch Pro and some don't. A real market prediction would have product cycle comparisons and project what sales for the Switch would be if a Pro version came out and if a pro version doesn't come out. It would compare market share to the competitors and it would speculate on when a Switch 2 would come out and what the impact a Switch Pro would have on those sales. Digital foundry gave a one sentence opinion that it wasn't the right time. They gave an opinion and did no market analysis and it's not proof that a Switch Pro would fail in the slightest.

Re: Video: Comparing The OLED, Switch, And Switch Lite Screens

cleveland124

@Scoopz

You seem to have misunderstood my posts. From my post #35

"Either way it's a question of how to get better cooling not how to design a new chip since the Switch is like 30% underclocked. Oled screen would help but more work would need to be done."

So I indicated that they would have to design better cooling to get improved performance out of the existing chip. I said explicitly that OLED would help but more work would need to be done. It seems Digital Foundry agrees with my analysis. They said it performs slightly better in handheld mode but would need better dock cooling to do better docked. I fully admitted a redesign may be needed to get better cooling in post #35. The funny thing is Nintendo did redesign the dock to accommodate the bigger Switch but it seems they didn't take the opportunity to make the cooling any better.

The Switch Pro was rumored at $399 so I'd expect it would include some redesign that I still think they could keep the same chip with other solutions to improve performance. I was never thinking the Switch Pro would be a 4K machine which would clearly indicate the need for a new chip. I always said I wanted some incremental improvement to go with the nicer screen.

It's Digital Foundry's opinion that it doesn't make sense for a redesign at this time. That may be so, but we don't really know how the Switch will sell from here on to the Switch 2 or even when the Switch 2 will come. I had industry analysts in my above article that did think it was time for the Switch Pro. Different opinions you know even with experts in the field. Market projections are some science and some guessing.

To be honest I couldn't understand why you said a Switch Pro wouldn't be possible. But it seems you thought my opinion was based on not doing anything but just squeezing more power out. I even said above that in a world the Steam Deck exists how can you think it's not possible to make a Switch Pro? Because in my mind I want a Switch Pro and if it takes additional resources then so be it. Even though I'd be happy with minimal gains and the same chip.

Re: Video: Comparing The OLED, Switch, And Switch Lite Screens

cleveland124

@Scoopz

As do you not my friend. I do love that you can't counter any of my points and that is your fall back is the fallacy that I have to provide proof and you don't. I'm the only one who linked experts agreeing with me but expert opinion is still opinion and I wouldn't try to present that as facts like you do.

Keep rreading up on the market and one day you'll learn something about business. I'm a little dumber now for having read your posts but I'll recover.

Re: Video: Comparing The OLED, Switch, And Switch Lite Screens

cleveland124

@Scoopz

You haven't cited one expert during this discussion. In a world where the Steam Deck exists your argument can't be that Switch Pro isn't possible. Heck even just upping the ram would have performance benefits and be super easy.

So your argument seems to be that cost/benefit to market isn't here. You aren't always clear so I'm guessing a little here. Now what your fail to realize is that the industry experts are giving their opinions on that. Not facts. So if you were smart enough, you'd realize there is no way to win this argument and and would bow out with agree to dissagree.

Here is an article from early this year. https://www.geekinco.com/2021/02/nintendo-switch-pro-several-analysts-do.html?m=1

Several industry analysts (which have infinitley more knowledge than you) agreed with you that the time wasn't right for a Switch Pro. Others agreed with me thinking that Switch momentum was slowing some and that this would be a good stop gap until Switch 2 comes out. Nintendo agrees with you because there is no Switch Pro. You may think this means you win, but you'd have to ignore that Nintendo is wrong on the market just as much as anybody else. Much like they thought the market would buy 100 million Wii Us or that the NES/Snes classic wouldn't sell so they barely produced any. They didn't even project the original Wii's success and it took them 4 years to get manufacturing up to demand. So at the end of the day, you have your opinion and have some decent thoughts to support that opinion. I have my opinion and some decent thoughts to support that opinion. And the only way we'd know for sure is if we could quantum physics split the world into parrallel worlds where one gets a Switch Pro and the other doesn't and then we could see what the better business decision was.

Re: Video: Comparing The OLED, Switch, And Switch Lite Screens

cleveland124

@Scoopz

You are such a jerk. You just can't control yourself. Learn to see the bigger picture? And you clearly did throw yourself in the technical discussion with a text wall about how technically hard it would be to create a new chip. I guess I'll just say if only Nintendo could see the bigger picture when they made a new 3DS and Sony when they made a PS4 Pro and Microsoft selling an S series and an X series. If only they had your knowledge they could avoid these mistakes. Pretty impressive that you have more bussiness acumen than all of them. Or were you speaking from a place of zero knowledge again?

Re: Video: Comparing The OLED, Switch, And Switch Lite Screens

cleveland124

@Scoopz

Oh you are the technical engineer? So when you say it's stupid you are talking from a knowledgeable position? Either way it's a question of how to get better cooling not how to design a new chip since the Switch is like 30% underclocked. Oled screen would help but more work would need to be done.

Based on the number of articles and forum activity it seems like there is interest in a pro model. You come off as very condenscending always adding small personal jabs like me crying. Also, you felt the need to say I had zero knowledge(when I destroyed your argumemt) and not include yourself in that zero knowledge bubble. So I find it amusing that I need to be humble. Try sticking to the topic and don't make personal attacks and I'll treat you with respect.

"The Switch released in 2017 with GPU power in between 360 and Xbox One. Nearly 5 years later Steam Deck is releasing with cutting edge mobile GPU hardware and thats only reaching PS4 level power."

Nobody was asking for 4k hardware in the Switch. Incremental improvement would make a great deal of improvement for games that can't hold consistent frame rate or games like Doom eternal that drops to 360P resolution in hand held mode.

It's also pretty consistent with Nintendo's recent upgrade strategies to give late cycle power upgrades.

1. The Nintendo DSi came out increasing the power of the original DS just over a year before Nintendo came out with the true successor the 3DS and about 5 years after the launch of the original DS.

2. The New 3DS launched 4 years after the original launch of the 3DS in the US and about 2 years prior to the launch of the Switch. This was actually a pretty big power increase and extremely noticeable in performance.

"Gotta use common sense."

Personal attacks that imply the previous poster has no common sense are really uncalled for on this forum. Especially when Nintendo has done exactly what you say isn't common sense by giving late product life cycle power increases in the last two generations with the DSi and New 3DS.

As someone who owns an oled tv, I disagree on this point. There is a wide variety on the quality of tvs from something of the $200 black friday deals to some lcd tvs that cost >$2,000. I have a nice lcd tv and a nice oled tv. The Oled is slightly better because it's dark room performance is amazing.

That said a good lcd tv will be much brighter than an oled tv and the colors will be very close. If you were looking to put a tv in a bright room, an lcd will probably be the better choice.

This oled screen is brighter than the original switch, but that's only because nintendo cheaped out on the original screen making the comparison more staggering.
