@Giygas_95 I'm w/ you. But gotta please this generation who wants sequels (read: more of the same) over new and original things. I'd much rather have a new Zelda game than a sequel.

Wish I had a Switch so I could be more excited for this. FE is one of my favorite video game franchises, but I'll likely either miss this one completely or just play it way late. My current backlog of games (PC, 3DS, Wii U) does not justify getting a Switch, sadly.

Definitely pre-ordering. Curious as to how much longer til the 3DS becomes obsolete. Isn't Nintendo wanting to push the Switch as its potential replacement? Could this be the last major physical release on 3DS?

There's been a re-emergence of the metroidvania genre in recent years (Ori, Salt & Sanctuary, Xeodrifter, Song of the Deep, Axiom Verge, Black Knight Sword, Guacamelee, etc).

I see no reason why Nintendo can't bring Metroid back to its roots. =) But I'll really take anything!

While I like the idea and functionality of dual-screens, having a single screen and no software gimmicks is what will draw the third-party support, therefore possibly saving/extending Nintendo's life.

I think I'd be much more interested in and excited for the NX if my Wii U (and Wii for that matter) backlog was completed. But I still have...6~8 Wii U games I gotta beat. And that doesn't even count the eShop games, which is around a dozen or so... sigh why do i do this to myself.

Despite the bad rap Star Fox Zero is getting, they have a solid track record (one of those "none of our games are below average or will always be at least a 6", akin to Grasshopper) and every game I've played of theirs (Bayo1+2, W101, MGR:R) I've enjoyed.

I have faith in them. Definitely a company I'd like to work for.

@SM4SHshorts well, it could just be a reboot that includes previous stories. The ones they chose to re-master.

It's like DC's New 52 reboot. They (unofficially, but kinda officially) picked and choose what was still canon.

@Yrreiht that's how i'm gonna interpret it lol. I'm somewhat new to the LoZ series anyway (only played 2 games...WW and PH). So this is a nice soft re-boot for me. I already have SS and MM3DS. Just need to get OOT3DS and TP HD and I'll be set (I don't mind skipping the Hero loses timeline).

Does this mean all the pre-2011 games are now non-canon?

I have both SMGs for Wii. Have yet to play either. Just comes down to me 1. dwindling down my backlog and 2. having the motivation to boot up the Wii Menu...

It IS on my Steam wishlist...but I've been holding out for the Wii U version. So I could both support the Wii U and Crescent Moon.

I wouldn't say the timeline is necessary. But it is nice to have as a little side note, since some games do make pseudo-references to other games.

Count me as another supporter of the game. And yes, the amount of gamer entitlement the past few years is just really disappointing. But that's Gen Y/today's world, I guess...

Fatal Frame, Devil's Third, Xenoblade, and M&L:PJ are probably "musts".

Zelda, Star Fox, SMTxFE, Fire Emblem Fates, Yoshi's Woolly World, Mario Tennis, Metroid Prime FF/BB, and Triforce Heroes are all definitely up there, too.

Pretty excited.

Besides that, I completely disagree w/ almost everything you say. You group games you just classify as "dark and gritty" w/o any "good story" (I assume you mean like CoD, God of War, etc) w/ game w/ actually good stories, stories that have had numerous analytical articles from various publications (even Forbes.com) like Last of Us and BioShock Infinite. Maybe if you actually played those games instead of just criticized them, you may know the difference.

And yes I have played Tales games. Like i said, by JRPG standards (emphasis on JRPG) they aren't kiddy games.

@yorumi I associate colorful w/ kiddy, b/c that's how the common perception is, fair or not. And a developer/publisher has to play into those perceptions, whether you like it or not.

Besides, I wouldn't call either the Xeno games or Tales games colorful or kiddy. They are fairly mature, by JRPG standards (that's another topic - the storytelling standards of Western games vs Japanese games. If you noticed, coincidentally, all the games I listed were Western).

What colorful kiddy games have emotional or thought-provoking stories??? Zelda series? Mario RPGs? Great stories, yeah. But nothing compared Bastion, BioShock Infinite, Deus Ex, Last of Us, etc in the emotional or thought-provoking department.

and that's one thing that a lot of modern day gamers like and appreciate - mature, emotional or thought-provoking stories they can try to relate to. Nintendo rarely offers that. Another reason why 3rd-party support is desirable.
